Did your home DZ participate in USPA Safety Day?
Coreefdiver replied to Coreefdiver's topic in Safety and Training
Interested in seeing how safety day played out. no need to point out who didn't, if you don't want to DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930 -

Inverted airplane spin in Santiago - video...
Coreefdiver replied to skydiverek's topic in Safety and Training
this scenario is probably my biggest fear in skydiving (getting stuck in the plane with a bunch of skydivers between me and the exit, in an emergency) followed closely by a durring/after take off incident. I feel better when I'm near the door for a first out and/or hop-n-pop. Slightly clauserphobic maybe? glad everyone made it out in both the examples in this thread. this is the interactive web page I used to select my new belt and pulley combination. http://www.csgnetwork.com/pulleybeltcalc.html it's not rocket science eta: its got a speed calculator too. if you know the RPM's of your motor, you can also see how much of a difference different pulley sizes will have on your machine. word to the wise

I have a Sabre2 I've read that the Sabre2 performs better with swooping and handling. They are both great general purpose canopies. I don't know anything about the Pilot. you should be able to load up a 150 w/o any problems, taking it easy till you 'grow' into it's "higher performance" capabilities, but I don't know your experience or skill level. Have you spoke with local instructors / ST&A? here is a pretty decent guide to check out: http://www.bigairsportz.com/pdf/bas-sizingchart.pdf DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930

you can get some good info from http://www.needlebar.org it's a collectors forum, they're picky and it could take a day or two to join.. but they do have some decent info and pictures. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930

depending upon the size of the pulley you switch too, you'll probably need a belt. there are some belt size calculators on-line you'll need to know shaft diameter, distance between the two shafts and the pulley diameters. Damn!!!! wish I had thought of saying that the one time the Caravan lost it's engine! All I could think of is getting out of that plane as fast as I could!! lol... I got out after my student in a SLJM course, the engine died shortly therafter.. the Instructor and pilot remained and the pilot did his thing and things went ok from there... but I could just imiagine him saying that and jumping out (oh, C182). just the other day I got back from a >1 mile spot from about 3.5k using ~ 1/3 brakes and ~ 1.04 wl on my Sabre2 don't recall the ground winds exactly, but above 1.5k or so, I know I was going into the wind as I was keeping an eye out for an alternate landing spot two out before me, 1 made it to the official dz, the other close, but they pulled lower. none of us were in any danger or at risk for the long spot (upper winds pushed harder than expected) there are trees and ditches, but plenty of open space to land I wouldn't be too concerned when going with the wind as I would against it. Don't be affraid to call for a go-around (before you get out) or keep an eye on where you are in relation to the DZ while in freefall, and pull higher if you have to. Some places don't have the luxury of open space options that others do. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930

you won't always have connection to teh interwebs with the app, you get some functionality not available in the html version and for those without unlimited bandwidth, having the SIM in an app or .pdf saves having to be on-line all the time, saving both time and money.
