  1. I'd like to sew some reinforcement material (cordura~) to the seat of some pants. anyone have any tips or even better, a pattern for doing so? DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  2. are you sure it's Lateral epicondylitis ? I've been misdiagnosed on several occasions, I've did my homework better than my doctors. not saying you cant trust a doctor, I'm just saying that you can't trust doctors. I've had lateral and medial epicondylitis, as well as cubital tunnel issues.. mostly all diagnosed as carpal tunnel. I've even been given NSAIDs and PT for what would be confirmed as a bone spur. point is, be your own advocate. do your own reading/homework.. save yourself some trouble and pain in the long run. remember it is your body and your money. make sure they listen to you. usual disclaimers apply DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930

  5. I'm not a DZO, but as with most business decisions, I think it has a lot to do with ROI. best features, options and quality for the money. I'm sure experience, and any contractual agreements will play into the decision somewhere ;) I've also seen a lot of the student/rental gear is what ever the main line is of the local loft/SD goody store (usually pretty close relationships (business and/or personal) DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930

  10. Funny you should mention that... I went to a boogie a couple years ago with a few friends. Everyone's gear was piled together in the back of the van. One of the guys was going to borrow another guy's rig. He had borrowed it before, so he was familiar with the rig. He grabs the wrong rig from the pile. Thinks "strange, I don't remember it being this colour". Tries to turn on the AAD, but there isn't one; thinks "strange, I know he has an AAD in his rig". Puts the rig on and boards the plane. Just before jump run, another jumper on the plane points out an incorrectly assembled three ring. A gear check would have caught it. He rides the plane down, and blames the owner for incorrectly assembling the three rings (the main had been reconnected the night before after a reserve repack; it had not been jumped like that). He did eventually admit that the plane ride down was for the better - after he found out what size canopy was in the rig! damn, the stupid is strong with this one DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930

  24. I've been in aviation, in one form or another, for a LONG time. as it is with any business, they need to make a profit to stay in business (and I'm sure everyone will agree) also, any costs of doing business is ALWAYS passed on to the customer. the issue here is, like a lot of companies now days, they only see near term not long term. they will sell out to make their money now instead of the long haul. as mentioned above, you gotta keep your customer in mind, they need to keep coming in and/or coming back to keep making money. you keep the customer happy, they come back and you profit. you do them wrong, they won't come back, or not as often as they would otherwise. Being the only game in town and then being arrogant about it doesnt go over well either. Customer relations and Communication are two often overlooked aspects of doing business. Lots of places could do with some remedial customer service 101. They may have a good customer service policy, but is that what their front line employees are doing? I don't think anyone is expecting a DZO to kiss the customers ass or give away their product; People want to be treated fair.
