  1. I went crazy with a spread sheet. I sat down and figured out exactly what I wanted I sent an email/requested via phone for a quote for said items. plugged the various numbers in my spreadsheet, added pros/cons to the lists. This process made it easier to make the decision. searching the forums here will verify that the choices I have made were the right ones.. Rigs N Things and Chuting Star have proven to me to be top notch, go-to places. Most places have great customer service, some have even better prices. 2. I'd say that a Parachute is NOT an Aircraft. it can't takeoff on its own. license is not required to operate registration is not required to own/operate a parachute is designed to slow the descent of a person or object through the air etc... of course, thats just my biased, humble opinion; I'm not the claims adjuster. 4. "Pretentious", "exaggeration" and "embellishment" all come to mind as I watched him read from his book. I think he may be trying to get a job writing news copy or scripts for one of the Discovery channels many "reality" shows I also gotta laugh at his 5k statement. We typically break off at 4.5-5k, and even hop-n-pops exit lower. Not trying to discount the fact he jumped from a plane, its how he's telling the story. 5. Color selection and amount of exposure to sunlight also factor into the equation. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930

  7. I ty-wrapped my Contour HD to my belly mounted bail-out bottles. I wore a wrist mounted gopro, but it only produced one picture will go back better prepared next year DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  8. I was on the first load, first pass in '92
  9. Jump #120 Ray Ferrell organized sunset load out of N41DZ back in '92 at Skydance. I had earned, but never got around to apply for an SCS until this year, and that was only because another jumper earned his SCR & SCS on the same jump, so it was easy to get everyone to sign two papers, instead of one. ETA: in the spirit of the OP, my first attempt at anything greater than a 5 way, was on #85, which was a 26 way attempt, out of a Caribou. #86 was a 12 way tube out of the 'bou. 87 got me my Falcon, andmy first 8 way was #88. That was a good weekend. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  10. this thread is of interest to me I have a eZ430 and played with it for about 5 min. set it aside till I could gather all the things I was looking to do for another, yet related project....time to dust the box off. the watch comes with everything you need to program it. 15. got mine today.. just played around with it a bit....did a pro pack to see how different it was... very interesting fabric, as noted elsewhere.. cant find any wear and the placard looks great. lines are almost as good as my other canopy with 85 jumps on 'em... I don't think this canopy has seen much use... but hey, thats ok, I'll take care of that DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930

  18. I got a Space after reading reviews here and other places on-line. I might be able to jump it next weekend if all goes well I just want to have all the info on my gear I can find (I have it for everything else) I already checked in with MEL, line replacement is something that still can be done :) DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930

  21. She's still flying... will be doing demo jumps on 20 August 2011 at the Erie Air Park (Erie, CO) see Jim McCormick on FB for more info on the jump. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  22. hmmm, what to do, what to do.... guess I best get a camera first, and go from there. I'm getting a gopro basically to put on my motorcycle (but lends itself more versatile for the halo jump, I think), my "more serious" skydiving camera will be a contour. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  23. I'd like to mount a go-pro on my chest strap or mud flap for a HALO jump (not my helmet to mount anything on) not keen on putting one on my hand. any commercially avail. products that work w/ skydiving rigs? COTS would be best so I can get some reg. jumps with this set up before going to 30k. if there is a better way to do this with a ContourHD, I'd be down for that instead. I want to capture the exit and freefall, maybe with a slight lookdown while belly. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  24. thats what I remember from my time there at SD a long time ago.. thing was, trying to get that physiological training, closest place was out at Beale AFB, and that was not easy to do, even when I was in the military. I think there are more places now, and a lot easier access. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  25. time to resurrect this thread! http://halojumper.com quite a few options. I just signed up for a load to 30k
