  1. where you seeing that? I'm betting all vets are welcome DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  2. holy crap is right this move was spineless If I were the PIA, I'd be talking to my lawyers DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  3. and now for something completly different..... ok, let me get this out of the way.... a d-bag, bridle and pc are part of the container. lets say you want to demo a friends canopy, it's similar in size to what you already use, but their harness won't fit you for what ever reason. providing that their dbag fit in my container (w/o using a crowbar) and there was plenty of tension on the closing loop to keep it closed in free fall, would it be safe to jump for a jump or two? Sure changing a d-bag/pc is basically a quick-link away, but if I don't have to, would make things a lot easier. 4. customer service, communication and response factor into the equation somewhere DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  5. I won't say much about this, as I'm obviously biased, based on my dealings with Karel in the past. but, I see that he's pretty transparent, most responses in this thread have seen right through his cloud to what he's really saying. it IS about safety Karel. I won't say anything else, if Aviacom hasn't gotten it by now.....its way too late. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  6. Parachute Australia and a few other lesser known rigs (here in the US) can be added to the list. the NZ PIA has more info on their FB and I believe web pages. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  7. I agree that Safety Day is a good thing, regardless of when it's held. I think that USPA selected a date with some thought and input into it, and not that all DZ's are required to participate, but how about if you asked your DZ about it and were ignored? DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  8. I just remembered this post as I saw the USPA FB image that they use, and I said "thats it!!!"... and came here and see you're already on top of it
  9. did you try calling the Sunshine Factory? they're on the Icarus Demo dealer list. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  10. The rigger who packed your reserves should be able to remove the AAD without repacking the reserve. I'm a rigger, so I can do my own
  11. I have 2 Javelins with Argus. I'm not happy about it, but no need to be out of action - I'll just take them out and jump without AADs until they sort out the problem. I'd never owned an AAD until a year ago anyway... 90% of my jumps are w/o AAD, so no biggie there.. just that most places require an AAD (not that I'll be a tattletale or anything if one was required and you took it out) then there is getting the container open and resealed.... how about jumping w/o it turned on? ....but if the SB sez "take it out..." then thats what ya gotta do. 12. that about sums it up, pretty concise now I'm even more thankful I didn't buy one for my Javelin, I'd hate to be out of action this early in the season. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  13. I've only had a barotrauma incident once, and that was while diving.. "mask squeeze"... didn't even know or feel it.. but others sure could see it in my eyes! DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  14. are you aware it is NOT an Alti2 AAD ? it is a MarS product, and Alti2 are exclusive importers for the US ok, I didnt know that little bit of info, but it's a moot point really. you did know what I was talking about and they will be connected here in the US to Alti2 for some time to come. No offense meant to our friends in "European and other countries" or MarS. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  15. I got the run around from Karel too......after i bought an Argus and thankfully before it shipped. Cancelled my order and got a Cypres 2. I am very thankful things turned out the way they did, for me anyway. I know one guy at my dz who owns one, he not happy before, and especially now. Now would be a great time for Alti2 to get theirs to market. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  16. It's a awesome gesture on your part. there are a lot of variables that he needs input on. How about a hand made "gift card" stating what you intend to do (?) that way you get to surprise him and you can both sit down and decide what to do together DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  17. Ummm, youtube (?) DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  18. having worked in aviation from the transition from analog to digital cockpit instruments, I've seen quite a few papers written on the subject. analog are easier to read, and by that, I mean you can quickly 'read' them. take a watch as an example, you can sneak a quick peek at one to get a general idea of what time it is, and you can also take a bit longer to get a more accurate reading. with analog, you get a relative reading and something to reference the needles movement against. digital will more than likely always give you a more accurate number, but you cant see trends and you don't get any reference. a lot of aviation instruments or displays will combine analog with digital for the above stated reasons. I use analog for free-fall, it's easy to glance at and get a relative idea as to where you are from break-off. I like the digital under canopy as I'm looking for more accurate altitudes you need to decide for yourself which you want to use, I bet you can borrow to help you decide. 19. I have one, only used it once. regular pull-up cord works just fine and I can put it my packing card pouch and not worry about losing a ~$12+ "tool" once I get the loop through the first flap, its relatively easy for the others. FWIW, I do see more women using the tool. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930

  24. I have something similar for my SCUBA gear, made by Samsonite... it does the job. There are also some decent soft travel gear with wheels that you can get at SCUBA shops (and retailers on-line), but you WILL pay for 'em. 25. I should chime in on my own thread.... My home dz didn't do anything to my knowledge... I even inquired via email well in advance, with no reply I was there on Saturday and nothing was mentioned or posted DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
