  1. Does the Heatwave complete your new set of gear? fHappy trails!
  2. Thanks for asking the question, I had the same one. Also, thanks to those with info responses. I have a better idea of what I need to purchase.
  3. I bought a gear bag made for SCUBA divers. It is waterproof and has a very large horseshoe top opening. Zipper bag on each end and a large zipper bag on front. Comes with carry handles and two well padded shoulder straps. Best part is, it holds 2 rigs, 2 Jumpsuits and plenlty of spare "stuff". I am very happy with it.
  4. Follow up to Billvon's statement: I watched my entire rig be assembled. I learned more about my rigs and rigging during that time then I did in a year. The rigger was very informative and really made me feel good about my stuff and how, what to look for in the future. It was a great learning experieince and it took about 2 hours. Have fun!
  5. I agree with Chile and others, if in doubt - chop it. No decision is a decision. If you can't control it and your are debating, you are losing altitude. Practice rear riser landings gradually. If you do not feel confident in doing them, then you have your answer - chop it. Stay Safe

    Crash...

He was lucky no citation. Glad he is okay
  7. Glad you are okay. I had that happen once. Canopy did not fully re-inflate. Very hard PLF.
  8. Lucky you, but don't you need some "Administrative Assistants?" Packers? Handlers? Research assistants? Share the wealth!
  9. It is October 1, how did it go? Update please.

    Fun 2-Way exits ?

What type jump craft are you using?
  11. Point noted - remove "run." I find if I prepare to run (which I hate) then landings are better. A few fast steps and done. Thanks for the input. Also, if teh canopy lands in front, it was not done flying yet.
  12. Or a laxative and prozak. You spend all day on the toilet but feel really good about yourself!

    Fun 2-Way exits ?

Depending on jump craft: Otter - backs out the door, hold on to each others arm and exit in a sit. Otter - Face each other, shoulder to exit holding each others shoulder straps. Go into a 2 way head down. Otter - both with backs to exit, hook your left and their right leg together and exit. Fly on your backs and go into horny gorilla, then each extend your right arm and go into a spin. Enjoy, be safe and have fun!!!
  14. I have a Sabre II at 1.3, not quite half brakes to surf. You will need to play with brakes a couple times to find the "right" spot. Then, as was already mentioned, continue applying brakes gradually until you lose forward speed. Go to full flare, run and smile!
  15. I agree; when you have another job! If you are bored and not interested in what you are doing and you don't see it as a career - look for another. Talk to all of your contacts, network, find something then quit. Once you are not interested, your boss will feel it. Your relation with the current boss will deteriorate and all of a sudden the decision to leave will not be yours. Good Luck!
  16. I have shipped lots to Canada. The two taxes and broker fees can get very high. A road trip would be fun, jump another DZ and avoid the mailing hassle. Good luck!
  17. Hey Michele: You are doing plenty of things right! You are landing safe and having fun. Remember when you crawled alot before you ran? Same thing. Hang in there. Everyone with 1,000 jumps first had to have 40. Keep smiling and have fun!
  18. I enjoyed jumping with them at Cleveland Parachute Center (Ohio). They were here for a while, with the cafe. They are missed. . . . .Bill
  19. Good advice. If more experienced are staying on the ground, so do I. I was at a DZ once, windy and I sat. An AFF student did go up. The last words heard from their radio was, " You are a bit off, flare above the trees and you are on your own!" Don't know if that student ever went back, but could have been terrible for everyone. High winds, tricky winds both = stay on ground!
  20. Hi: You made the right decision. Plus at his age he really wants a parent, not another friend. Hold tough, explain why you are opposed and case closed. I do like the idea of him paying for the whole bit, that will slow things down. Hang tough, whoever said it was going to be easy?
  21. Oh well, not individual. At least we are not pink!
  22. Cute and very individualized! Go pink
