    Cobra Canopy

Thanks, as you can tell from the lack of responses, information on this canopy is pretty rare!

    Cobra Canopy

I am about to try a Cobra 190 canopy. It is not the size I question, but the make. Is anyone familiar with a Cobra and any secrets to pass along before I jump it. The canopy is not known at the local DZ, hence I must solicit the help of my on line DZ friends. Thanks and Stay Safe!

  5. Hi Jak: I remember when I met you at Perris Valley (Jan 02) you impressed me as an honorable man. You may recall, I arrived from Cleveland and the airline gremlims kept my rig, log book and license. You made me feel welcome and showed taking care of jumpers took precedent over profit. No doubt that was the same motivation you had in allowing ESPN take up everyones' day for free. Thanks for giving your side. Bill
  6. The only story I have is my own. Hopefully your friend will read it as it is intended. I was on a student canopy until 20 jumps. Things (landings) were progressing well. I went to a 215 Falcon F-111 at 22 jumps ( exit weight about 210#) and landings were good and fun. Then a 190 Robo, landing okay, but not great, then about 70 jumps, I went to a Sabre II - 170 ZP canopy. WOW, that first landing came in so fast it truly was scarry. I did not expect it, nor did I know what to do with all that speed. I flared, too late, and it hurt. After several more jumps, I sought expert help with landings. For my .02 cents, stay conservative until you can handle any situation with your current canopy before down sizing. Listen to the conservative, experienced jumpers. "You don't get old being stupid"
  7. All set for Richmond! Leave Cleve after work (4 ish) arrive about 21:30. Jump all day Sat, Sun and Mon. Any advice for a first time Richmond-er? Happy trails and Stay Safe
  8. Hidy Ho: I hope to be there for at least a few days!
  9. Don't give up. Landing takes practice. You are following the right path by taking a canopy control class. Landing is like riding a bike, once you get the flare level correct, you don't forget. Stay Safe!
  10. Wish I would have seen this about a week ago! I was in a sit, pro track said 155 MPH when the p/c flew out, bridal around right arm, untangled it, poof -Sabre 2 - 170 opened at 6 grand. Yep, worn p/c pouch. Had pocket replaced and toggle keepers resewn. Smart man learns from his mistakes: A wise man learns from others mistakes! Stay Safe
  11. This happened with a Javelin with a BOC pocket. Since then, I have replaced the BOC pocket and had it moved closer to the body. Thanks for the imput. Stay Safe
  12. You should love your new Sabre 2! I sure enjoy mine. I had a brake come unstowed. It was a twisting fun ride til I got the other one undone. Ahhhhhh, life in the fast lane!
  13. Recently I was doing a sit fly, going rather well too - then I heard a flapping noise and found the pilot chute out with the bridle around my arm. Obviously, all turned out okay. I am having the p/c pocket re-sewn (tighter & closer to the body). Any other suggestions? This is a Javelin container.
  14. Hi Grumpy: Thanks for the info. Add this to the other 1 million things to be mindful of. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Call me strange, but I actually enjoyed my night jumps. Offered an entirely different perspective. I found all the hype talk of others made it sound alot more difficult then it was. Same basics applied = PULL Remeber: "Life is the only classroom with the test first, and the lesson last."
  16. Thanks for all of your informational feed back. It is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  17. What is considered to be a "normal" fall rate for belly flyers? It seems everyone has a different opinion (based on their fall rate). Admittedly I am new and have many questions. Best way to get answers is to ask! Thanks and Stay Safe.
