  1. I have a Cypress and simply forget about it after I turn it on each day. Not a dependent type thing, more like an air bag in the car. You forget both are there until they work. Just my minor opinion. Stay safe.
  2. Looks like a good suit for the money. Comments seem positive. I think I will get one. Thanks!
  3. Go for it Taz! After 80 military jumps, the AFF will zip right along for you. After 80 working jumps, now is time for fun jumps! Good luck
  4. If you are almost military, are you democratic? Power in numbers, have a team get together and voice your opinions 3 to 1. It may not get rid of him, but at least you will all know what you are all thinking. Good luck! We defend democracy - we do not practice it on this team!
  5. Congratulations! Just remember to be careful and never sto learning. Welcome to the addiction.
  6. Glad you are okay. WE all make mistakes. A smart man learns from his mistakes; a wise man learns from the mistakes of othters. Thanks for sharing and heal quick!
  7. Hi: Due to my work travels, I took my AFF at several DZs. Had no problem and feel like I learned more because of diferent instrucors. Now it is nice to go back to these DZs and be treated like an old friend. Good luck, just don't burn bridges.
  8. I jump a lot in the winter (Ohio) and I really like my Z-1.
  9. Hi: Like you, I was nervous about flips. My instructor, who was great, put me at ease by telling me not to worry about the actual flips. What he reallywanted to see was my ability to regain stability. You will be fine! Stay Safe
  10. Congrats to you and welcome. If you can get someone to shoot video for you, it will help withyour legs. I had leg problems early on. Someone video-ed me and instantly I saw, and later corrected, the problem. Stay Safe
  11. Sometimes we are forced to learn the hard way. Your injuries are suvivable though. You were lucky. I fly a Sabre 2 - 170 and at times it is tricky. I am glad you are fundamentally okay.
  12. I believe, in English, you are falling at 32 feet per second - squared; per second falling until you reach terminal. Hence in 12 seconds you fall about 1483 feet. If you have access to a pro track read out, it displays you fall graphically, although not 100 per cent accurately.
  13. Gale: Ito took me longer then I thought it should have to stand up my landings. The suggestion of video taping your landing is excellent. Once I saw video of my landings, the problem was extremely clear to me. Do not get discouraged, you can do it. It took me a while to get it, but good things take time. Do not go for a quick fix. Get the basics of flaring and once youhave that, it is like riding a bike; youdon't forget!

    landing off

Glad you made it okay. I have landed off by choice several times myself. You made the right decision. Snickering is temporary, fractures are a lot longer.
  15. Glad to hear you were well trained. Plus it all paid off big time. Good for you and thanks for sharing your ride. Stay Safe
  16. Thanks. Now it makes sense. I will try it this week and feel the difference.
  17. Okay, dumb question to follow: What about your toggles when you pull the slider down farther on your risers? Or do you just pull the slider down to the top of the toggles when they are all the way up? Call me naiv'e. Thanks
  18. Good for you. Glad all turned out okay. I too am interested; did you use a different canopy? Stay Safe

    Sit Fly

It is lots of fun, as you discovered. Good luck and welcome!
  20. I have gone into a sit from a Cesna by standing on the step facing forward. simply let go of the strut and right into a sit. It has worked well for me. I have a few video exits like this and it does work. Good luck and have fun!
  21. Hi Arlo: Thanks for the opinion. You brought up some good facts. Now if your employer wanted, they could give you a nice raise and use your statements for a promo! Thanks.
  22. Problem is, the people that talk bad about you generally never have the nerve to actually confront you. If they do come up and say, "Hey, I don't like you because . . . ." You can then give your side of things. Generally I don't let the creeps get me down.
  23. I try to make pertinent personal notes regarding each jump right after the jump. Then I will cheat with pro Track to actually fill in times, alt etc about each jump. Love the pro Track!
  24. Why ask why, ask why not! Now go shoot the funky kid. Won't change the smell, but you will feel better!
  25. I have done that on my Sabre II with the same results as you. It is all about knowing your canopy and your limits. No pain = no foul.
