even the ball of shut that ensued from cuting away the main can have a lot of drag in high winds on the ground... try it sometime. unless it's time for a repack, however, i don't suggest having the RSL connected. open the canopy? no. open the container? sure. this really should be in safety and training, but i'm sure it'l get moved anyway. It's all up to the pilot. In a 1 engine out scenerio, if you're not already in an unrecoverable spin by the time she says get out, she's probably got good control of the airplane. At that point the plane won't climb much if at all with a full load, so you get out, but it's not necessarily as urgent as, say, an engine fire or a stabilizer ripped off. If the pilot caually mentioned there's an engine out and everyone needs to get out low, you can probably afford a little exit separation (not what you would normally give for freefall, as you don't need to account for drift). If the pilot shouts "GET THE FUCK OUT" and takes out their rosary or starts getting up to follow you, exit separation be damned, you've got a better chance in a wrap. i'll put it to you this way.... a true freeflyer should be able to fly his body in any orientation. Most feefliers seem to think it's about flying any any orientation EXCEPT on their bellies. Really, if you want to be a well-rounded freeflyer, learn the belly skills and keep up with them.. go do a 4way with some friends some time, or some low-timers, or get enough to do the sunset bigway, even if that's only 12 or 16. You don't have to be ready for competition 4-way to be a competant belly-flier, but you DO have to be decent on yuor belly to be a truly compentant freeflyer. Consider this, IIRC there were belly points in the freefly compularies at nationals this year. Also consider. Most hybrid jumps start out with EVERYONE on their bellys. not sure what map or lake you're looking at, but the lake in question (water-filled quarry, actually) is just under a mile from the DZ (dependin which parts you're measuring from). For anyone interested, check the attached picture (or click HERE for a better version). K, so my Clie died and the only sony replacements Bestbuy has are much lower class of machines or the mucho expensive flip-out thing... So, rigth in the similar price range are the Palm Tungsten T2 and the HP Ipaq h1945 I'm used to PalmOS, but i'm intrigued by the more PC compatible stuff that the ipaq can do, though i have basically no experience actuallly using one. Palmos is quick & easy and i'm afraid it'll miss that with the pocketPC. anyone have any input on this, particularly from the pocketpc/ipaq angle? thanks!
