some of the larger drop zones require a riggers ticket or working under the direct supervision of someone with a riggers ticket.

You only have to prove your identity. Contact your state dept. they will send you instructions on filing (at least that's all i had to do in CA).

Peru plane crash survivors found map Rescuers have found several survivors, a day after a plane with up to 20 people on board crashed in Peru's eastern Amazon jungle, reports say. The twin-engine air force plane disappeared from radar screens shortly after taking off from the town of Orellana in the region of Loreto. Officials said rescue helicopters spotted a fire started by the survivors in a clearing. The plane was part of a service connecting remote communities. The Twin Otter air force plane was reported missing on Thursday evening after taking off from Orellana some 580km (360 miles) north-east of the capital, Lima. Officials said low clouds and heavy rain were hindering rescue efforts, but on Friday helicopter teams managed to reach eight survivors, guided to their location by a fire. The search for the rest of those on board was reported to be continuing.

Has any of you experienced a bag lock and..
jsaxton replied to autoset's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I had one, I threw out my main (a Stilettto 135), got stood up, and saw a classic bag lock, as I was reaching for my handles the canopy came out (rather violently) the left riser scraped the side of my head (I was not using a helmet at that time) and I got bloodied up pretty good. -
Davis CA has two, we turn for 6 and start for 8. We routinely launch 8way chunks, and beieve me, we are not small guys.

jsaxton replied to aguila's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Bill, you already have someone more interesting to do ;) -
Absolutely (old skydiver tradition, gives you more time to jump)
-
Congratulations!

Weather was a factor, but on the weather days is was great to hang with some old friends and meet new ones. A couple more jumps and we would have had it. Thanks to all the Organizers and DeLand for hosting the event and as an added bonus that Sunday afternoon jump with Guy Wright wasn't bad ;) see all y'all soon!
