  1. Rumor has it we are looking at February for an opening to the public.
  2. I will say this, out of all the tunnels I have been too and all the tunnel instructors I have met, the Hollywood tunnel has by far the most rude staff in all the Skyventure/Ifly organization.
  3. Thanks guys! I am now on a mission to make the second coolest video in skydiving...
  4. I am thinking about playing around with some skydiving and motocross video. I have seen a couple videos taken with the Canon 7D at 720p and 60fps then edited with Premiere with the Twixtor plugin. I was curious if anyone had other suggestions for capturing this footage and if anyone has slow-mo'd thier videos in this manner.
  5. Holy cow, how on earth did all of us thousands of skydivers ever make it through aff back in the old days without inside video? Lol I am not questioning ANYONES skills. Your student WILL make it through aff with or without inside video. They are a STUDENT, take it upon yourself as an instructor to remove any possibility for something to go wrong that you have control over. Leave it on the ground.
  6. The only answers your gonna get on the internet are flames from wanna be badasses. Get off the computer, go to the dz, ask a well qualified rigger and an experienced freeflyer to look at your rig. Absolutely no one can give you a legitimate answer with out physically looking over your rig.

    Texas Tunnel

Aggie Dave, you are so far beyond being trained you would not learn anything from any tunnel. And to state a fact, the tunnel in Houston actually helped several skydivers not only pass thier AFF course but also helped a few become better and more informed flyers. It seems you are one of the many brain washed people that think you cant learn anything unless you are flying in a skyventure tunnel. I myself learned quite a bit about what the body has the capability to do in freefall from that little tunnel. I have no doubt. It still doesn't provide the jumper community with a trainable tunnel that can also bring smiles to little kid's faces. Now if you could come up with a tunnel for canopy training, then you'd bring a big smile to this fat little kid's face!

    Texas Tunnel

AggieDave, the Gemini 1 is a completely different design than the tunnel that was based in Houston. And for the record, mobile windtunnels are not made for skydivers, they are made for non-skydivers to play in and have fun. It bothers me when people say they suck when a skydiver is trying to compare a $200k mobile tunnel to a $5mil fixed tunnel. This is an excellent example of apples and oranges. I worked at the tunnel in Houston and I can honestly say I had a blast and brought more smiles to little kids faces. It was very rewarding.
  9. Well good luck, I think NYC would be a wicked cool place for a tunnel. Back in the day my old boss lived in Brooklyn and talked about building one in a barge so you could just tug it up to anywhere in the bay you wanted. As for me I am stuck here in Texas, the home of the Skyventure Corporation and we can't even get a tunnel here. Kinda sux. lol
  10. If you can build a world class tunnel for just 1 mil I think your on too something. You can't get into any of the top manufacturers in the world for less than about 3.5 mil. And that is just the parts, you still have to put the damn things together. lol
  11. Have to agree with Lobos here. Skydive Dallas is by far the friendliest, most professionally run, and has the highest talent level of any dropzone in the state.
  12. It's not at Salado anymore? Makes me sad when people move boogies. Kinda like when Skyfest left Texas. I had been to every single Skyfest till it left. Kinda seems to break tradition to me. Hope you guys have a blast.
  13. I am curious if I can ask a question here without getting flamed. I read all the posts about the jumpers experience, the canopy size, how some of us high timers should lead by example, and to not tarnish the dropzones safety record with unsafe or reckless behaviour and so on. I am here to say that I have broken my femur, I have held a dying friend in my arms in the landing area and I KNOW what a bad approach looks like. I have tried to pass my experience down and I have tried to speak to younger skydivers about progressing too fast. From my experience if you do not have the support of your dropzone then you pretty much just seem like the jerk trying to hold them back from having fun. I have tried to do my part and I would like to see some USPA rated S&TA's step up to the plate and do what they are supposed to be doing. I watch on a daily basis, kids getting on the plane with a canopy they shouldn't or getting on skydives they shouldn't and I have also witnessed newbie skydivers remember to get on the plane with their camera but not their rig. And in the same instance I see experienced jumpers get kicked off a dropzone for going over the S&TA and the Managers head to inform the owner that dangerous things are happening and his staff is doing nothing about it. At some point can we actually hold people responsible that are in a position where they are supposed to be responsible for these kind of actions? If your proud of your dropzone, ask your staff to step up and be responsible. And if they blow you off, go somewhere that cares whether you live or die.
  14. Just my addition to the camera helmet setups. Helmet is a custom molded SkyPimp Helmets design with custom paint. Video is a CX-100 housed in my homemade ABS plastic form fit box. Includes HypEye D Pro flush mounted in left side of helmet. And last but not least a Canon Rebel Xsi with 15 mm Sigma EX lens. Enjoy
  15. Is it the same Skydive America that was based out of Pahokee Florida?
  16. I agree that all dz's kick ass. You can't take a dz down because of one person. I can say that I have jumped at all the Texas dz's and have yet to be banned from any of them. Every dz has something for each particular person. Whether it be beer, haircuts, aircraft, management, safety or the jumpers themselves. I believe you make a dz kickass all on your own, you will never have the ability to make your dz kickass for others. It is all a state of mind. Every time I jump at a dz I always feel like the people are nicer, the plane is faster and the beer is colder than the last. Have fun, and always remember its about you.
  17. Is there a confirmed dealer in the US for this canopy? I have tried emailing a couple of people but have not recieved back an email. Including Alain.
  18. I love these comments from you guys that are new to the sport. lol When I started, the Hi 8 camcorders were huge and camera flyers used to get neck injuries all the time. I actually saw a photo of my dzo back in the day with a vcr strapped to his belly with a handful of cables running up to the camera mounted on his protec.
  19. There's fees for extra altitude? heehee
  20. I think anyone who is too scared to put real information in their profile are trolls. Does that make me an asshole too? Check my jump numbers, I agree with everyone else, get the proper jump numbers and experience.
  21. So who is gonna teach him to swoop? Online... lol
  22. Dude you can't sit fly. We all know it. Im the only one that loves you enough to say it. DUDE! Shut up, I'm trying to look cool on here.
  23. Trust me when I say listen to Needtojump. He is dead on. It works for me.
  24. You don't show your jump numbers. You would need atleast 50 jumps before you put that on your head. And the GoPro is a great addition to this setup.
