  1. yeah looking back it does seem serious. I would hope that no one would be dumb enough to try that. The orginal poster hasn't posted any video of his quick head down learning progression. I think he probably wasn't really head down and was most likely in a steep track and just thought he was head down. I think everyone starts out that way. Unless they started in the tunnel. I know it took me quite few jumps to be able to fly head down with out tracking like crazy.
  2. It was joke. As in I wasn't serious.
  3. hell with enough weight in your helmet anyone can go head down NO PROBLEM! The real trick is not breaking your neck on opening!
  4. The pressure to buy your own gear will go up once you have your license. Mostly because renting gear all of the time is really expensive. Your training after your license is really up to you. There are many routes to take depending on what discipline interests you most. Some require a lot more effort and time then others. If you want to be a world class 4way RW or 4 vRW competitor it will take a lot longer then if you just want to have fun with your new friends on the weekend putting together various formations or freeflying and looking at each other and just enjoying the view.
  5. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dont marry a woman for looks alone, cause as she gets older and her eyes go bad, you can have surgery that will give you 20/20 vision. If her hearing starts to go you can get a devise that will make you hear like the day you were born. If her boob start to sag, to can get a operation and lift them right back up where they were, you can go to a strip club and say I want those tittes on that woman, but let me tell you something folks.......can't fix stupid. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~Ron White I fixed it for you!
  6. I am sorry. I don't know what I was thinking. It's been a long week. Yea I guess they are dependent on freefall speed. I don't know what that speed is.
  7. I don't think the alarms are based on speed. They just go off at the set altitudes.
  8. I am all for going after the vSCR and vSCS!!! I know I have have been on a head down 8 way or more before, but it wasn't documented.
  9. I started using a Neptune for a log book at around jump 600 and I back it up to my computer at home. I also have nearly every jump since jump number 435 on video from my perspective. I keep all my video and never over write any tapes.
  10. Obviously, we don't have access to the trace info. Given the repeated usage of the term 'assault weapons' and the concurrent images in the news interviews, I am reasonably sure they are NOT talking about my brother's deer rifle. Grenades, fully-automatic M16s and M203's aren't exactly spilling off the shelves in gunstores. The idea that these weapons are being bought in the US and brought into Mexico is, frankly, ludicrous. Class III weapons aren't sold without a huge amount of paperwork, and the ATF keeps a VERY tight supervision on Class III weapons. Hypothetical situation: An illegal Russian arms dealer sells 1000 Soviet era AK-47 automatic rifles to an illegal arms dealer in San Diego, California. That arms dealer, in turn, sells 200 of those rifles to a member of a Mexican drug cartel, who subsequently smuggles (successfully) the rifles into Mexico. Did those 200 rifles in Mexico come from the US? Could the ATF trace them to the US, given the opportunity? Your hypothetical seems pretty unlikely. Why would they bother going through a middle man in the US when they could just deal directly with the Russian themselves and avoid having to pay the middleman and smuggling from the US?
  11. He got exactly what he paid for an old canopy with lots of jumps on it.
  12. He edited out the name. It was there originally.
  13. Sounds like you made a mistake in buy a canopy with out having it inspected first. For $200 what can you expect?? Why would you pay $50 more then the asking price??
  14. I think audibles should be required for all new freeflyers. Especially for someone who has a lot of belly jumps. I know that I have an internal freefall clock that is set to freeflying speeds. I have been doing so much freeflying that I expect the dive to only last a certain amount of time. The last belly dive I did was flying camera for a four way. I was freaking out at about 6000 feet wondering why they haven't started tracking away yet! I had to glance over at my altimiter to see that it was early still, but that feeling of "OH Shit we are going low" really freaked me out!
  15. LOL ... after a good weekend of team training I am tired and wore out. Yes skydiving can be athletic. It's not just falling!
  16. Good post! I prefer to try and learn from other peoples mistakes rather then making those mistakes myself and then having to learn the lesson.
  17. uh yeah I think that would be out of most peoples budget.
  18. It also depends on what format the video is being rendered from. HDV to AVCHD takes much longer as does HDV to MPEG-2 for DVD or AVCHD to MPEG-2 for DVD.
  19. I think that would make the process take longer. You are better off importing and doing all your editing in windows rather then converting and then editing in Mac.
  20. Not at the minimum requirements will it be faster. It might be slower. You really need a quad core computer if you are going to be rendering video to a different format.
  21. What is on the streets is what matters. It doesn't matter how much drugs the cops confiscate. All that does is raise the cost of what does get to the streets. Take a drug deale off the streets? Another replaces him almost as quickly sometimes quicker. Yes the war on drugs is failing.
  22. I don't think the current tactics work at all. It's easy buy illegal drugs in the US.
