If you don't have a Blu Ray disc writer and don't want to fork out the cash for the blank media then yes it's the best way create discs that a Blu Ray disc player can read and play in HD. With DVD Architect 5 you can create an AVC disc on a DVD with menu's and everything just like a regular mpeg2 DVD. It won't play on anything except a Blu Ray disc player.

Blu Ray disc players can read AVCHD off of DVD's and play it in HD. other then that read DSE's post.

Ok, I am home now and can give you more specifics. Create a new project and set it to blu ray disk instead of DVD. Then it will give you the options you are looking for. I generally use the AVC 1440x1080 60i. I choose those settings because I want to write to a DVD so it will play on my Blu Ray disk player in high definition. Here is a screen capture of what I select.

I can't remember exactly what I had to do for it to be set to HD. When I get home I will be able to give you more specifics. Try creating a New Project and it should give you the option of choosing HD settings.

As far as I know there is no specified length for the main closing loop. Just make it short enough so that the pack is tight but not so tight that it's hard to close. It depends mostly on the size of the main canopy and the how dry or humid the environment is.

You apparently didn't understand what DSE was trying to say. The Sony IP5 records to MicroMV tapes. MicroMV tapes will be difficult to find. If you don't have any MicroMV tapes then you can't record any video with this camcorder at all.

Straight out of just about every first jump course sylabus I have ever seen. Man I am in trouble I cant pack for shit, always have bad body position and use rental gear that is border line worn out. No mals thus far, knock on wood. Has there ever been anyone that has made it past 1000 jumps without a mal? There have been a lot of people that have made it past 1000 jumps with out a malfunction. I have yet to have a malfunction and I have almost 1600 jumps.

The "bad luck" malfunctions are extremely rare. If you avoid sloppy packing, actively maintain your gear and avoid small HP canopies you can expect to have a very low malfunction rate.

Um that's kind of a big camera to be used for team training. It seems like over kill to me. I wouldn't want to make it any bigger then it already is by putting it in a box or adding anything to it. Have you thought of buying a CX105 or HC5e maybe? Both of those would be a big step up with out having that monster on your head.

If you are like me not musically inclined at all then get Cinescore in addition to Vegas. It makes adding a royalty free soundtrack very easy and I think it sounds pretty good.

Download the trial version and test it out. It's a pretty cool program. I like it alot. I don't do any tandem video.

You don't get much for free. The best route is to buy a copy of Sony Cinescore. It will generate a soundtrack for your video.
