  1. I don't clean the housings, but I bet a BoreSnake would work. As for Teflon powder, the Lolon cable coating is slick, like Teflon, so Teflon powder would be redundant. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  2. C'mon, you're a smart guy. Do we have to recite every Ponzi scheme since Ponzi himself, every HealthSouth, every Enron, every MF Global? Did the economy go bust in 2008 because a few individuals asked for loans they didn't intend to pay back and left the poor, well-meaning mortgage originators holding the bag? Wendy asked for the best and the worst. There's plenty of both, but there's enough intentional fraud and dishonesty that it's an ongoing concern. Not wanting to put words in Wendy's mouth, but I took her question to be a way of asking why some people take the high road and some take the low road from the same starting point? Capitalism certainly gives people more freedom to do as much as they can in either direction. There's more to it than that and it's something I'm sure a lot of people would like to get a handle on. 3. This was actually a story on TV this morning. The story was "747 jet lands on wrong runway". The caption under the picture said "747 jet lands on long runway". You don't have to outrun the bear.

    Who's BAD?

Wow, you turned that bitch around and went straight for the chocolate! I shouldn't talk. One time, I took a match out of a matchbook and didn't close the cover before striking. I still shudder to think what might have happened. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  6. "Republicans are either too scared or just too dumb to mount a credible opposition. " Put me down for "too dumb" on that choice. The thing I'm tired of is hearing officials say "I'm sorry", but just keep on going while the consequences fall on someone else. Actions speak louder than words. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  7. " knew I was getting old the first time I drove past a high school and found myself looking at the teachers. " No dude, you're getting old when you drive past a high school and don't look at the teachers. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  8. An extremely interesting paper that outlines how insurance companies use social media for underwriting http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/national/2011/10/13/219764.htm Forget those hackers at the NSA; this is what you need to understand if you buy insurance or use social media or know someone who does. An excerpt from the article: Currently, social network data are being used as sources of evidence in courts of law in claims cases. Individual underwriters are retrieving risk evaluation information on their insureds through manual searches on social sites. But in a few years, automatically mined data from social networking sites could find their way into the underwriting pricing process. It could become a factor in determining premiums You don't have to outrun the bear.

  10. "execution was flawed from the start" And that sums it up. Twenty years from now, Obamacare will not be the way the health care system runs. ACA is simply a mandate for insurance companies and that is not the model for an effective health care system. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  11. "your a Nazi. " That should be "you're a Nazi." Please do not continue to taunt the grammer-and-spelling nazis in such a blatant manner. Carry on. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  12. And according to this quote from the article, they didn't have to open it. What a bunch of chowder-heads. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  13. have you ever navigated without GPS ? or gone to the bathroom in an outhouse ? or changed the lining on a drum brake ? or typed a letter on a typewriter ? or done a calculation on a slide rule ? You don't have to outrun the bear.
  14. My manual is a few years old, but on page 26-27 it explains automatic and economize modes. See if that helps. You don't have to outrun the bear.

  16. A guy walks into a bar and tells the bartender, "Give me a beer before the problems start." Bartender hands him a beer and says, "You want to run a tab?" Man chugs the beer and says, "Yeah, run a tab. How about giving me a tequila before the problems start." Bartender gives him a tequila, man gulps it down and says, "I'll have a whiskey before the problems start." This goes on for about ten drinks. The man gets up and heads for the door. Bartender says, "Hey buddy, how about that tab?" The man replies, "Now the problems start." You don't have to outrun the bear.
  17. The only bad habit you'll learn in a wind tunnel is lack of altitude awareness. That's easily overcome, plus, wind tunnels are fun and you can go on a rainy day. You don't have to outrun the bear.

  20. You might wonder why the "pick-up agent" can't just bring cash. Don't ask him about it. Don't correspond with him ever again. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  21. I don't know what happens when it hits 20 years, but when mine hit 21 years, I bought it a beer and packed it again the next day. You don't have to outrun the bear.

  23. Thanks for that link. That Youtube page is a treasure trove of useful - oops, I meant interesting information. hey Lucky, don't worry about getting the guy fired. If he meant well, he needs to learn. If he didn't.... [/begin rant] If you'll permit me a small rant here: burglars, rapists, con-men, and miscreants of all sorts depend on two things. People are polite; people are trusting. The guy who comes to your door to "check for a gas leak" might be from the gas company, or he might want to get in your house to steal your virginity or your jewels. Don't worry about offending him. Tell him to stay on the porch while you call the gas company to verify. Keep your knife in your hand while you make the call. If he's for real, he'll understand. If he's not for real, he'll understand. If you're out jogging and someone approaches you, move to avoid him. If he keeps getting closer, tell him loudly and emphatically "That's close enough". Keep moving away, but get ready to crank up the whup-ass. Don't worry about making a scene. If someone is rude enough or thoughtless enough to make you feel threatened, you don't need to be embarrassed by sticking up for yourself. [end rant] Carry on. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  24. Would you make a complaint for someone entering your room despite the Do Not Disturb light being on? No, I would simply call the front desk and ask them to come remove the body. You don't have to outrun the bear.
