  1. So I'm sitting in a stall in a public bathroom, and a guy comes in and sits down in the next stall. After a few seconds, he said "Hi honey, I've been thinking about you." I said, "Congressman, you've already got my vote." No, I didn't really. He was on a cell phone. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  2. How would you explain the right wing's desire to take their freedoms away? They'll talk to you and talk to you and talk to you about individual freedom, but if they see a free individual, it's gonna scare 'em. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  3. This is a hell of a lot more uplifting than the thread Nataly bumped. You don't let those kids read DZ.com, do you? You don't have to outrun the bear.
  4. There are also two psychological factors to consider. Would you cut away a bag lock? Are you absolutely sure you could tell the difference between a bag lock and a pcit ? The other thing to consider is that if your plan is to cutaway in some situations and just pull reserve in others, you have to make a decision. In an emergency, your sense of time and your altitude awareness are inaccurate at best. You might take too long to make the decision, and that is usually a killer. These are the reasons FJC students are usually taught to cutaway and pull reserve for a PCIT. That gves them one course of action that will probably work if they pull the main handle and don't get a canopy over their head. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  5. I've also just read your profile. No email, no location, no home dropzone, no container, ... . You seem like the perfect person to get involved in exciting, clandestine work. We'll just need to do a background check. If you could post your birthdate, social security number, parents' names and birthdates, home address, and the number of one bank account as a reference...... The really sad part is that some people fall for shit like this. That's why the scammers keep doing it. Did I tell you about the Nigerian guy who wanted to buy the freezer I posted for sale on Craigslist? You don't have to outrun the bear.
  6. "If there is a law that says a person can't lie to Congress, then why isn't there a law that says Congress can't lie to us? " That should be a bumper sticker. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  7. So you're in favor of sharia law? Next you'll want to take all the gay people in Manhatten and make them live on an island. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  8. 'cause all those oil and gas rigs off the Alabama coast are really Gadar Stations You don't have to outrun the bear.
  9. If this thread has any actionable point, it is that pilots - especially of twin engine planes- need to practice their emergency procedures. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  10. OK, here's some clarity on the source. EUT has been posting similar articles for years. Always some source at the Pentagon revealing secret military plans to their friends in the Russian intelligence community - unlikely at best. The quote above is from an article by the Southern Poverty Law Center from 2009. Here's a link to the full article: http://www.splcenter.org/blog/2009/12/16/racist-skinheads-wife-behind-european-news-website/ Don't let my skepticism stop the fun. Carry on. 12. Apparently she found a way to skip step 1. You know who we haven't heard from in a while ? Ted Nugent (a real singer). Is he dead or in jail ?? You don't have to outrun the bear.
  13. "...a former country music singer? How the hell do you become a "former country music singer" ?? You don't have to outrun the bear.
  14. Just my opinion: If you want to buy one and shoot it like it comes out of the box, flip a coin or go with whichever costs less. If you might want to make any modifications, the Rem 700 is one of the most often modified/customized rifles in the world and there's a ton of stuff you can get in the way of different stocks, different triggers, different scope mounts, etc. You don't have to outrun the bear.

  16. This is what Karl Rove said about the subject recently. He's a conservative and knows a thing or two about losing elections. Full article: http://rove.com/articles/492 You don't have to outrun the bear.
  17. Stutzman is a farmer. Here's one thing he and his fellow farmers will get out of a government shutdown: Local Farm Service Agency, Rural Development, or Natural Resources Conservation Service staff will not be considered essential, so farmers and ranchers will not be able to receive any loans for programs they have applied for. Just like Dick Cheney shooting his hunting partner in the face, Republicans were aiming at Obamacare, but they've hit something else. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  18. I'm sure there are self destruct charges in the QF-16. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  19. It is - clearly visible alongside an F-16 at 2:31. Look at Tyndall AFB on Google Maps and you'll see a ramp full of those. To see some of them in action, look at "QF-4" on Youtube. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  20. As I said in the repost in Bonfire - great story. Thanks for posting it. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  21. Never saw a blue Spitfire. Thanks for posting that. It's a terrific story all around. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  22. This is what the FAA says on the subject: Sec. 105.45 Use of tandem parachute systems (a) No person may conduct a parachute operation using a tandem parachute system, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow any person to conduct a parachute operation from that aircraft using a tandem parachute system, unless-- (1) One of the parachutists using the tandem parachute system is the parachutist in command, and meets the following requirements: (i) Has a minimum of 3 years of experience in parachuting, and must provide documentation that the parachutist-- (ii) Has completed a minimum of 500 freefall parachute jumps using a ram-air parachute, and (iii) Holds a master parachute license issued by an organization recognized by the FAA, and (iv) Has successfully completed a tandem instructor course given by the manufacturer of the tandem parachute system used in the parachute operation or a course acceptable to the Administrator. (v) Has been certified by the appropriate parachute manufacturer or tandem course provider as being properly trained on the use of the specific tandem parachute system to be used. 23. I think the news is that it's turning up in America. You can use the url tag to make things clicky. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  24. Read carefully folks. The Fox article says "headlines" didn't include "Islam" or "Muslim". In fact, many of the articles did. I read a bunch of articles from around the world. The typical headline was something like "69 Dead In Mall Attack", "Kenyan President Speaks About Mall Attack", etc. In most cases, you had to go two or three sentences into the article to get details like "...Islamic militant group Al-Shabbab...". Here's an example from the New York Times: headline - Militant Group Attacks Kenyan Border Town first sentence of article - The Islamic extremist group that killed scores of people at a Nairobi mall attacked two Kenyan towns near the Somali border, killing three people. Another example of how the gullible can be duped by careful wording. Sort of like "95% of doctors in our survey recommend our snake oil". You don't have to outrun the bear.
  25. Just saw closed circuit TV pictures of the Navy Yard shooter in a BBC news article. They didn't identify the gun, but it looks suspiciously like a Rem 870 tactical, especially in the close-up photo. Some conclusions I've drawn: No pistol grip, so not dangerous Not semi-auto, so not dangerous Magazine limited to 10 rds., so not dangerous Not easily concealable, so not dangerous Final conclusion: There must have been another shooter with a couple of pistols and an assault rifle (probably an AR-15 or an AK-47 or something with a pistol grip). I refuse to believe there are crazy people who will start killing folks with whatever comes to hand. That would be too hard to fix without spending money on mental health services. Carry on. You don't have to outrun the bear.
