I will be the first in line. :)

From the horse's mouth they say iFly Austin will be open by the end of the year. I will believe it when I hear the fans turning.

Call Skydive San Marcos and buy the time for $800/hour from them. It's the cheapest there is that includes regular coaching. 512-488-2214

I doubt they did that. The last thing any tunnel wants is an injury. They don't even come close to topping it out unless they are very sure of your abilities. I think you were duped.

Reasonable cost expected for 1 hr coached in tunnel
pilot-one replied to jtfreefly's topic in Wind Tunnels
This depends on your tunnel skills. You can go to Denver and get 1 hour of tunnel time including the coaching at the beginner to intermediate level for $800. Once you start getting on your head you're going to pay another $75 or so for more experienced coaches. -
The problem with side mounting is riser strikes knocking the camera off. You really want the camera to come off in case of a line snag so side mounting doesn't make much sense. As far as comparing I have mounted both the goPro 2 and the Drift side by side. The drift looks better while playing back on a 50in HD LCD TV. They both recorded in 60fps and edited equally well. It was easy to tell which was which post production though because the goPro has that "goPro" look to it where the Drift does not. I should note that while I had no choice but to mount the goPro directly in the center on top I was able to mount the Drift anywhere on the helmet at any angle. I had it mounted it on top off to the side of center and with the adjustable lens was able to orient the picture normally. I don't have any video to post at the moment. Maybe someday when I have some time I will put something together. The Drift is really worth checking out. Someday when they get their marketing people off their asses it will overtake the goPro. In the meantime don't take my word for it go check it out.

looking for inexpensive, basic tunnel suit for kids

Vertical Suits in Canada. -
Check out the Pilot for several reasons. I've jumped all three and the Pilot is the sportiest of the three by far. It opens consistently without sniveling like the Safire 2 or the end cell issues like the Sabre 2 and you can buy one for much less.

He probably had one of the first cameras and they have long been replaced with the Stealth 170 version. There are many that I know of personally that are working perfectly with no issues including my own. They recently released an even newer smaller version that completely blows the goPro away. Yes, even the goPro 2. And now with the LED light similar to the Hypeye for the CX it's even better than better.
-
I forgot to mention too that the Drift now has available for $20 a LED remote record indicator...very similar to a Hypeye. This camera simply cannot be beat in the small format class.

Get a Drift camera. It's got a much better picture than the GoPro or contour and has a better profile for skydiving. It mounts nicely on the G2 with no issues of the visor interfering. www.driftinnovation.com

That's a bad link. "page not found"

That's pretty lame advice. I too fall very fast at 198 pounds. For those with athletic and muscular builds losing weight is not an option in most cases. Learning to fly slower helps but there's only so much you can put out there before it affects your manuverability. Flying your body free flying to slow down has more options than on your belly. While free flying you have your torso to throw into the mix. Since your torso is already a factor on your belly there's not much left once you figure out how to de arch etc. The last option such as my case is is to get some fabric out there too.

He is sending me a check that was "mistakenly" written for substantially more than the price of my canopy. Haha. He want's me to deposit the check and then wire him the difference and I can keep $50 extra for the inconvenience. I will report back when/if I get the check. -
Mounting a GoPro on the outside of plane
pilot-one replied to frequentfaller's topic in Photography and Video
Ask the pilot first but we tape the mount to the strut. It works great. -
At SVCO just call the tunnel and ask for Mikey. He will schedule you and give you the best coaching you can possibly get.
-
You can go to Colorado anytime and get great coaching. The rate is much cheaper than XP because the tunnel is a bit smaller. In your case or anyone else that would be alone it would make no difference and you could easily make up the cost of a flight out there in just one hour of tunnel time. Alll of the instructors there are well versed in AFF type flying and will be able to get you going on the right track. Have fun.

After you dispute the charges call Vlady at Vertical Suits. You can have a jumpsuit that not only fits but is bad ass within week.

It sounds too tight. Good free fly jumpsuits DO have spandex backs and crotches.
