  1. Match dives to peoples skills, give a little assistance in helping the dive go as planned for those that are new to that type of jump. That is not to confuse organizer with a coach. You pay a coach to help you with your skills, organizers help create a fun and safe jump around the skills you have maybe giving you some tips and challenging you but not getting you up speed for a jump you have no business being on with your skill level. This line gets blurred sometimes as an organizer should have some coaching ability and will to some extent do some coaching. But really they should be building a dive around what you bring even if that means taking you, and like skilled jumpers, up on a separate dive more in tune with your skills. Whether that jump be easier or more challenging.
  2. You can also augment a rig with leg straps that are more comfy. I stuffed some neoprene scraps from a wetsuit manufacturer into an old vector two for free. It would be more of a hassle if you had to have a master rigger work on your harness. But if you find a rig you like cheap, this may offset the cost.
  3. And were does the Lanc connect on the side prohibiting skinny D-boxes?
  4. Thanks, I do it under canopy ( traffic permiting ) it takes two seconds when the line is under tension and sunlight highlights the twists and direction. It takes just a little longer on the ground.
  5. Not to mention that you can't buy a velocity 190 or a sabre 1 87. So dealing with a WL perspective may have an effect on other canopy design variables.
  6. that's a $40 bottle of wine. And at that point I don't think I could have told the difference between a $40 bottle of wine or a $2 bottle. So keep some two buck Chuck on hand for the second bottle. Have FUN!! I once followed a bottle of two buck chuck with a bottle of ferrari cerano tresor, by myself while eating cheap pizza at a party. The tresor just didn't shine through like it normally does.
  7. Yours is about as aerodynamic as a camera helmet can be. An FTP or a helmet with a side box and top mount still won't be so smooth to the flow
  8. If you are in the ballpark you should be happy. Its really hard to quantify precisely unless your gauge is a cliff backdrop for glide and crossing the valley your measure of distance. I've posted before you can take up to ten computer audibles up and no two will give "matching numbers", five will be within ten percent, three will give totally erroneous readings and two will shut down and not register the jump. I regularly fly with three and am happy when two of them are within 15%. They are just not precise enough for the numbers you want. They are good for altitude alarms and not a whole lot more. But high performance two ways with a good pilot are a better benchmark of actual achievements. Anything above a 2 or 3 way and there is some "dirty" flying going on to make sure everyone can get in tight. If its a really big way the numbers may be no better than what you get on a tracking jump ( although distance covered will be a lot greater ). To answer your question I am 5'9" #170 with About 40 classic two jumps ( none in the last year )roughly 150 S3 jumps and about 30 matter 2 jumps. I spent a lot of solo jumps on the classic but now rarely do solos and mostly bigger than two ways. Chasing students tend to drop faster too as does flocking with a low performing base pilot. Less than 20% of my jumps was I trying to get good numbers but instead mostly flocking relative and safely or aerobatics ( on solos or smaller ways). On the classic it took my about 20 jumps to get into the low 50's. This took less than 10 jumps to do on the S-3 and about 20 jumps to do on the Matter 2. It took more jumps to do on the matter it does fly different than the bird-man suits that I'm used to and I do less "number getting" jumps now and more flocking than before. When I say the low fifties I'm saying a "full time" steady state glide not a one time on a jump micro second event. Back when I goofed around with profiling software I registered spikes of the mid to high thirtys and regular dips into the mid forties. I can get "numbers" in the high 40s on both my matter2 and my S-3 pretty easy. But unless the numbers are close ( within 5%) on multiple audibles for both halves of the jump I won't call it sustainable and maintainable. Regardless the matter2 and S-3 will give me more forward drive than the classic for a given fall rate. Along with getting good fall rate numbers there should be some importance on being able to slide forward and back but on level with and up and below but on line with a steady, stable base formation. And probably more importance on flying that steady stable base. I know of jumpers that are getting real numbers in the forties and can prove it. I know of jumpers that report numbers that are erroneous and its obvious when the come to flock. So beware of "number envy" by posts on this forum, your mileage may vary Sorry for the long reply hope this helps
  9. Wait, you are air force. What happened to all those northern teir bases that they forced people returning from overseas dream assignments to for a minimum of four years?
  10. Any pictures of the new suit?
  11. A great choice but he is not political enough. And not crazy enough to take the job.
  12. and 2) I have the Glock right here, it needed to be cleaned Derek Glocks rarely need cleaning
  13. Is it just me or does it look like it took a long time for that suit to start flying compared to the other shots? Nope, its just you
  14. Back? You never left. You are still right here very much immersed in the same ol' same ol. Its still not out of your system. Regardless if you frequent the danger zone or not. Don't get me wrong Derek I'm not trying to push you out just pointing out something
  15. dz "B" has no chance to drive dz "A" ot of buisness....Quote Yes they do! Or rather DZ A will drive THEMSELVES out of business with customer support plan like theirs. The just have to sting enough of the right bunch of customers and they will go across the street. Bigger aircraft, if needed, are just a phone call away. Let the word get out. This is how they treat people.
  16. One of the all-time great ones came out to see what the f*ck I was thinking when I downwinded (in about 20mph winds) at Eloy. "You gotta be smarter than that..." I was the Burkee. Maybe you deserved, and I would have taken it just as calmly as you did, But a downwinder may be better than a low 180 turn coupled with target fixation. We got some guys in the hospital right now who chose that route and it didn't work out. Being able to take landing option two or three when the obvious one has "closed out" on you and live is a skill, landing downwind should be a skill practiced. Just don't go making a habit of it!

Quote The wages of SIN is computer DEATHQuote But after they take taxes out its just a really slow hard drive.
  18. #1 At a hundred jumps went from a canopy loading of 1.1 to a loading of of 1.4 and simultaniously 1.6 both on elipticals. In retrospect perty dumb although I've gotten away with it. Others in the same boat were not so lucky. Now I'm in no rush. #2 250 ish jumps. Low altitude, regular rate turn but over water and not being able ( due to sheer lack of experience ) take into account the "mirror effect" of a smooth waveless pond and the brite reflection of the afternoon sun. Plowed straight down in it. #2 An incorrectly rigged bird-man base style bridle resulting in a cut away. Not scared at the time but NOW not very keen on having anything in tow in a wingsuit deployment. Easy lessens learned in retrospect all could have been mortally more expensive.
  19. I just tell them I'm not REALLY a skydiver, I just got a good nights rest at the holiday inn.
  20. Introduce her to some midget friends. Hot Porno drunken midgets are a bonus.
  21. Dude I know a handful of guys that are working on it right now,..... but if you mean sucessfully I don't know.
  22. In fact, another Birdman factory has been set up to deal strictly with EU sales and stream line the process so the European customer receives his/her suit in a shorter time than they have in the past. Quote I've never understood this one, if the factory is in Slovinia why would it take longer for the euro customers to get their stuff? Is the second factory going to be closer domestically and have the existing factory focus on the euro orders?
  23. There is a new S-fly on the DZ can't wait to fly along with it. Its interesting how the rig laterals and lift web zip into it from the wing trailing edge instead of from the top of the collar as some of the previous monowings do.
