  1. I've never had metal in my body...but I did hold on to my free bag from my first cutaway even though it's destroyed and unrecognizable. I'm thinking of putting it in a box to frame or something maybe? My best friend thinks it's trash and has tried to throw it away on numerous occasions...
  2. Congratulations! My father is coming up on 16 years...and I can not tell you enough that your friends and family probably love the you you are now!
  3. I only have about 60 jumps on my sabre 150 but I love it. I have a pocket added to the slider my rigger did to slow the openings. I also don't do anything to the nose, but i push it in really far. (that's what she said) But anyway...I LOVE mine, haven't had any trouble yet, and I learned to pack on it so my pack jobs are not great.
  4. I jump a sabre 1 150 with a pocket on the slider...and it is awesome. Of course i've only put like 60 jumps on it, but have not even come close to a hard opening yet.
  5. FOZZ!! Love the suit...but does that mean you're going to abandon jumping with me for wingsuits?! I'll be out tomorrow and this weekend, I hope I get to see you! And just know you brighten everyone's day.
  6. Haha, sounds like you speak from experience!
  7. Okay so I carved a pumpkin this year with my best friend...and I decided I would freehand it and do a parachute. I'm pretty excited about it, even if it does look like an 8 year old did it (i'm not that artistic okay?!) And my best friend did a republican elephant..haha I'm sure our neighbors wonder why we didn't just do the classic face or ghost.

    Woo hoo

HAHA that's totally what I thought too...and wrong that I still don't know what the f word is that is meant here?
  9. I had the same feeling after I saved a kid from drowning. Didn't have to perform CPR or anything but after the rescue I had tons of adrenaline. Loved the feeling, after all that's why I'm a skydiver!
  10. Tell me about it, my first three days off in 9 days and I couldn't jump!! If the winds are bad on Thursday I'm going to be in need of something else high adrenaline!
  11. Although I've never jumped at Hollister, I've heard nothing but good things about them. My home DZ is Lodi, "open 365 days a year" as Bill would say. Good weather all year long, and lots of really awesome jumpers that know a ton. On the weekends a plane will run only for fun jumpers, so come on down!
  12. I second that! My first boogie too, my first jumps on my new rig, met lots of cool people, just all around an awesome time.
  13. I love standing at the door and the excitement that fills up your thoughts. And I love on the plane ride up watching everyone's faces! Tandems are the best because they are either really excited or really terrified and I love that they are going to experience something I am addicted too.
  14. I agree with the This is my second season ending and I have not seen it yet. I dread the day and I worry how it will effect me and how I view the sky.
  15. I heard a story from a guy once about him reconnecting his canopy wrong and finding out it was backwards. He landed it that way but was SO lucky he was okay. And to this day it terrifies me!! (Note: I heard this story at a boogie, at night, after a bit of drinking so I'm aware I could have misunderstood it or it could have been played up.)

  17. I took AFF in the summer at Lodi last year and I think that was the bets time for me. I had about two months to basically jump as much as I financially could. I got about 50 jumps under my belt in three months. I didn't jump much over the winter and started again in the spring. Aside from the drive you have, it is very cold in the winter and the dz is a lot slower than in the summer. Personally I would wait until you could jump more often, but tandems are definitely a way to pass the time until AFF! Lodi is my home dz so of course I'm partial to it, and although Bill is tough sometimes, he knows a ton and can teach you so much as long as you're willing to listen and learn! Let me know if you have any other questions and hopefully I'll see you out there one day!!
  18. Congratulations on your jump! I'm a huge fan of Skydive Utah. There is no turning back now! Blue skies.

    Vibes for Fozz

You'll be in my thoughts Fozz!!!
  20. I think I misunderstood your post, but I do understand how a bad spot can effect someone with fewer jump numbers. That's why it's important to police yourself and your fellow jumpers. And I do feel that at Lodi there are a lot of jumpers looking out for each others backs...and since you mentioned your instructor called you the other day I'm guessing you know that too. I would say just make sure you educate your friend with 35 jumps on what to do if she was in that situation so that you can help her learn to make the right decisions that could one day save her life. That is a perfect way of describing it. Lodi maybe does allow those things...I honestly don't know, but I make sure to stay within my limits. I guess it's just frustrating going to different dzs and getting the same negative response from jumpers when they hear what my home dz is.
  21. Ugh I'm so tired of hearing how "unsafe" this dz is. It's as safe as you make it...same as EVERY OTHER dz. If I want to be unsafe at Davis or Monterey or anywhere else in California I can. If I want to be safe at those places, again, I can. Tell me one thing that happens there that jeopardizes your safety that does not have to do with human error? But back to the original post... No go around because you pay for a plane ride, not a skydive. I actually talked about this exact issue with the dzo today because I was curious what his stand was on it and that was his answer. You're paying $13 to get to 13K and it's up to you to decide what you do when you get up there...jump or ride down.
