  1. I have not heard much about the new Lincoln dz, but it is VERY new. Lots of experienced, established AFFIs at Lodi.
  2. Hello! I am a woman jumper at Lodi, and actually there are quite a few of us there! AFF costs $1000 at Lodi, and you will probably end up spending about $3000 to $4000 on a rig. What I did was just worry about getting through AFF and getting some jumps under your belt with rental equipment ($35 a jump at Lodi) until you know what size canopy you want and then buy. Let me know if you have any other questions about Lodi or the training or anything. I'm the girl around the dz with the lavender and bright pink rig.
  3. That can't be real. It has to be photoshopped. I refuse to believe that!!!! EW!
  4. I voted who cares...get the fuck out. But only because for some reason I have never been terrified or even slightly scared in an airplane. I guess I'm just too excited about the jump to focus on anything else.
  5. It's cool the farmer leases the land or something from the airport since it is on airport property. The guy is friendly and knows when he plows his field he is going to find lots of cool stuff.
  6. I had a mal about 20 jumps ago and never recovered my free bag from the field it got lost in. Well...long story short, the farmer found it when his tractor ran over it and mangled it. (although possibly more damage to the tractor then the free bag ) So now I have a destroyed free bag that I cannot use anymore and I don't know what to do with it. It's weird to say but I'm kind of attached to it!! Haha. Someone recommended framing it since it was my first cutaway. What else could I do with it?
  7. :3:1 I did my 100th jump! Thanks to everyone who made it fabulous!! No pie, but I did get soaked in ice water. I followed a 4 way RW, a 7 way BFR, and a 4 way RW.
  8. Whenever I go to Utah I always have to visit Skydive Utah in Toole close to Salt Lake City. If you make it that north into the state you should definitely check that place out...one of the best dzs I've ever been to an a beautiful view.
  9. I'm not sure numbers exactly, but from every student I've seen they have passed. In my AFF class there was one student who wasn't progressing as fast as he should, and the instructor continued to work with him and helped him get good enough to pass. Sure, was I kind of freaked out when I realized that every other DZ did two AFFIs instead of 1? Yes, but it was because I didn't research, I picked solely on price. I have full trust in the instructors there and Bill would not allow a shady instructor in the sky by himself with an AFF student. Shit, Bill grounds people for far less than being unsafe in the sky! But back to the real question...I think Bill requires a tandem before AFF simply because he likes watching them all watch his tandem safety video from 1970. Actuallly I agree, without a tandem prior you have NO IDEA what it is going to feel like in the sky, and why would he throw someone out like that with one instructor? Note: I understand I have 98 jumps and don't really know anything...this is just my 2 cents. And jaxton..."no swoop for you...come back 1 year". I have not jumped on a saturday in ages! I will be out this Saturday for the BBQ, you better be staying around, there will be a keg!
  10. I love skydive utah!!! I'm jealous you got your 100th there. My 100th is coming up on Tuesday hopefully!
  11. Congratulations on finishing your AFF!! I think I was there you were jumping right after you finished with your friend. I offered to do a 2way with you guys. I'm sure I'll see you out there!
  12. Hey Jeff, congratulations on graduating AFF!! Who was your instructor at Lodi? Lodi is my home dropzone so I'm sure I will run into you sometime!
  13. HAHAHA!!! Pete, you better be replying from your fabulous new laptop. I'm in Hawaii, but I miss you guys in Lodi!! I'm already wanting to jump again, I'm having withdrawls.
  14. I can hear it now..."open 365 days a year, come before 3."
  15. Well, since Lodi is my home DZ...of course I am going to recommend it. They do TONS of tandems on the weekend though, so if they want to see lots of action go on a Saturday or Sunday, but the wait can be up to 4 hours. I think usually it's around 3. If they just want to do a jump and don't mind it being kind of quiet, go on a weekday and they probably will only have to wait 1 or 2 hours.
  16. I think the thing that amazes me about him is his flip turns! I heard he practices those for like two hours a day alone. If you watch him in a race that is where he kills everyone, on the turns!
  17. :2:1 First 9 way and first 12 way RW. And beer owed for my first cutaway! Thankfully it was my first 12 way, first cutaway, first ride ever on my reserve on the same jump so I only owed beer once.
  18. So yesterday I had my first cutaway, on my 80th jump, on my first 12 way RW. And yes...I bought beer. :) We did a pretty decent 12 way, tracked away at 4,500 and after that is where things get a little confusing. I'm not sure what altitude I pulled at. I know my parachute opened with major line twists, slider above them, and the main wasn't fully inflated. I looked at my altimeter at that moment and it was 2,000. Well 2 is my harddeck so I decided to cut. I remember hesitating for one minute thinking "Shit!!! What do I do now?!" But then I pulled my cutaway handle and threw it...no idea why I didn't save it! Then I don't remember my reserve deploying. I do have an RSL but I felt like I waited forever to feel it, and then I pulled my reserve handle...I did save that one. (Btw, after inspection from my rigger, my RSL did deploy my reserve.) Then a beautiful pink reserve opened! This was it's first ride! As soon as it opened I looked again at my altimeter and it was 1,500. I had a great landing on it. I tried to spot my main and free bag but I couldn't. One of the girls on the jump actually landed a little out with it and brought it back. My free bag is still laying in a muddy field with crop that is like 6 feet tall. Couldn't locate that. :( So I know I should have looked at my altimeter when I countered to pull. I'm not sure if the line twists were my pack job, or my body position when I pulled, or both. I thanked my rigger, and he had me ready to go in about an hour and a half again. Also, another girl on the load saw my canopy and said that it was a good thing I cut because I probably wouldn't have been able to kick out of the line twists. And now I feel GREAT that I have cutaway and that I did the right things!
  19. Because when every other dz raises their prices Bill doesn't so then all the jumpers come here to Lodi! And correct me if I'm wrong...but I think he also owns all of his planes.

    Mad Men on AMC

I LOVE that show too! I just started watching it like two weeks ago when they played the first season non-stop. :)
  21. I haven't had any more sheep encounters!! In fact, I've even had a successful landing off situation!
  22. CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm very excited for you. :) Once you get good with accuracy you'll have to come visit Lodi!
