  1. you don't bake the whole helmet with a mamba, just remove the pads and bake them, then reinstall and put the helmet on. not sure about temps and such though. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001
  2. be careful what you wish for. i saw her break a fairly substantial paddle on gonzo's ass. wicked swing. must have played a lot of baseball.
  3. thanks guys, good stuff to know. i think i missed this one, but i'll keep an eye out for another. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001
  4. does anyone have and experience with this techsew sewing machines? i found a couple for sale on ebay. price looks reasonable, i think. i'm looking for a starter type machine, something to do canopy repairs and other light work, not harness stuff. 5. i have a friend with a javelin, had the same problem, and got that fix advice from derek thomas. it worked great! "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

  7. The Lotus is no longer available... wow, that sucks! "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001
  8. Lotus! i've had one for the last 350 or so jumps, loaded at ~1.3:1. great fun, and i like the air locks. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001
  9. first, congrats on reacting the way you were trained! second, a clarification of your beer owed. you can buy all you like, and the bottle for the rigger is a separate thing, but you actually never owe more than one case per jump, no matter how many firsts were involved. 10. that's why k, that was funny as hell. to the OP, go with the infinity, you can't go wrong. great product, great service. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001
  11. i imagine there will be a high pucker factor on the cypres team. imagine a premature firing at 100,000+ feet! i wonder if there is a plan for this, or any situation that put the reserve out that high. i can't see felix taking enough oxygen to last for that long of a canopy ride. 12. a storm (or any other 'square' 7 cell) would probably pack a little smaller while a pilot (or any other 'square' 9 cell) would probaby pack similar, if they were measured the same way. edit to add, forgot about the zpx option on the pilot. in theory, teh 150 zpx pilot would pack like a 135 zp "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." 13. i'd certainly like to see it available electronically. i have the rig in hand, don't have a week or so to wait for a dvd to be delivered. oh well, i've seen it done, read the manual, looked at scott's pics and i've done a reflex, so i have the basics. should be fun. 14. thanks scott, those are the pics i was looking for. also, thanks beatnik for the tip on the tso'd part. i'll just buy one if i need it. maybe i'll get them to mail me one with the dvd. 15. i find that applies to any rig! that stupid pilot chute and it's spring have to go somewhere. it's either in the packjob, or on it. on it never looks right. cool that i can make them, just wondering why there aren't any diagrams around. found one fairly easily for a reflex. i'm guessing this is the same only different with two pins and all. can't do anything without a picture and some measurements. 16. i'm dragging up an old thread because i think i'm about to pack my first racer. i saw a demo of one being packed at my rigger course, but never got my hands on it (intentionally, there weren't any racers around my dz then). there is some good info here, but i still have questions. the pictures that were posted (via a link to dz.com photo gallery) now lead to a dead link, does anyone know where they are? i read through the manual and it goes into some detail (although confusing) about tacking this thing to that thing (i will read it again, and look at the rig when it comes apart) but is this something you have to do on every repack? since the quickloop is the closing loop, i'm guessing it has to be replaced every repack like any cypres loop? if i do have to replace it, can i make one on my own, or do i have to buy one from jumpshack? if i can make one, where are the damn instructions? someone mentioned a video, is that available anywhere? 17. He was at our little DZ last month and about 24 people took the course. The differences we see are amazing, didn't matter if you had 10s of jumps or 1000s of jumps, there was something for everyone to learn. If he ever puts on a course near you, take it. 18. technically, you could have legal in-service time of 5 years between inspections on a cypres II if you got it serviced at 3.5 years (6 months early) and again at 8.5 years (6 months late). it's still less than 20, but a lot can happen in 5 as well. 19. Do you really have to pay custom charges when sending stuff across the boarder for maintenance? That has got to be the first bad thing I've heard about Canada.
  20. i got my senior rigger ticket from handsome dave in 2009, and we were taught, and had to pack 4 or 5 rounds. that said, riggers don't have to pack anything they don't want to. if you come across someone that doesn't want your money, find someone that does. personally, i would pack one if i had the tools. the only round canopies in the neighbourhood belong to the school, so i don't see any of them and investing even $50 for stuff would be silly. 21. Sky Train by Redoxx. Can't beat the quality! I bought one of their bags and thought it looked very well built, same materials and methods as a rig. i mentioned that when i was asking them about something. They told me that the company was founded by a couple of ex military riggers. it's not a rig bag as such, but it doesn look quite professional, is available in many colors, it's a max-carry on size and it will last you for ever. 24. 15 year hiatus? did you start when you were 5? FWIW, i've had one cutaway, on a flat packed manta. go figure. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001
