  1. I really have to ask, and this is not an attack, i am genuinely curious. Brenthutch, do you work in big oil or coal or something? I see thread after thread started by you gleefully, joyfully alleging/reporting the demise of solar companies, green jobs, any environmental effort whatsoever, etc. What's the story? I mean, no offense, but i now have this picture in my head of you driving down the street in a hummer H3 on trash day knocking over recycle bins as you pass, stopping in the park to chainsaw all the trees, throwing rocks at any solar panel you see, dumping acid in the streams, and finishing your day ransacking the zoo and clubbing all the animals while laughing maniacally. I seriously want to be proved wrong here... I am trying to understand your agenda, or for that matter, why anyone (not just you) would be so actively anti-conservation. I don't expect to ever change your mind, but I do want to understand your motivation. I would think that for a conservative such as yourself, any industry that brings jobs and growth to the US would be considered positive, yet, somehow, in your eyes, this isn't. Please, educate me. 2. not sure if serious... If you are? Might wanna re-read the article and my post. If you aren't? well-played? I guess? And my "company" was the US Air Force, and I am proud they are developing ways to NOT kill people, and just kill electronics. Or NOT kill rioting crowds, just force them to disperse. Yes, actually, I think that's pretty damned cool. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  3. Technically, it's not an EMP. It's a high-power directed energy weapon that uses a beam of microwaves to take out the targets. Probably developed with the help of my old employer, the AF research lab in Albuquerque. I didn't work on this particular application, but our division was definitely studying it. My particular project was using DE to shut down moving vehicles, which is a much trickier problem that you'd think. We also worked on the much-vaunted "people-zapper" that came out a few years back, which is a non-lethal riot/crowd control device. Did some neat stuff at Kirtland. 7. They DID voice them months and months ago, and the same thing happened then. the party leadership shut them out because they didn't agree with the party line on all issues. Look at Gary Johnson. tried it as a Republican, but you and I and your neighbor's dog and everyone else knows that if you are a social liberal, you don't have a rat's chance of being allowed to see the light of day in the republican party. So they shut him out, and now he's libertarian, and no one knows who he is except New Mexicans, where I predict he will get a significant portion of that state's vote. Because he made a damned fine governor. I was just in New Mexico...driving around albuquerque i saw a LOT of Gary Johnson 2012 bumper stickers. I'm actually disappointed and a bit surprised at you here, tbh. It's NEVER going to change if people keep thinking like you do. 8. This is the first year i've seriously considered voting for a 3rd party candidate. Having lived in New Mexico when Gary Johnson was governor, I can tell you that he knows how to run an executive branch of a government, and he did a damned fine job. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see him take a significant portion of the vote in NM, because everyone who was there during his terms as governor can tell you he left the state better off. While I differ with his views on a couple of points, most of them i heartily agree with. I just wish he had more than a snowball's chance in hell of winning. 9. "In the clearing stands a boxer and a fighter by his trade and he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him till he cries out in his anger and his shame, 'I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains..." Maybe he was just...tired. Tired of fighting a losing battle, where you're guilty until proven innocent, and the people charging you with a misdeed are allowed to change the rules at whim to stonewall you and head you off and never ever give you a fair shake. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-hiltzik-20120825,0,2080853.column Doping or not, Armstrong is definitely not the only party here that could be considered shady. 10. SPF 50 for the win. I was outdoors for 34 days straight, it only rained 4 times, it was above 25ºC for most of the time, and I never even got burned. Wearing short sleeves and shorts most of the time. I did get slightly darker, though. (meaning i went from "visible from space" white to slightly beige ) Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  11. Absolutely true. When I walked across Spain this summer on my Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, There were a LOT of Koreans walking as well. Even on the days when it was 90 degrees and the route was 28km in the hot sun across the meseta (think CA's central valley, without the smog), the Korean pilgrims were covered head to toe, even wearing gloves! I remember wondering how the heck they could stand it, especially the older women i saw. Social status is so important, they chose sweltering over comfort to prevent tanning. Chili

oh man, making me miss living in New Mexico. See, the trouble is, for those of us who don't live in NM, it's nearly impossible to find fresh green chile =( Albertsons here does sell frozen green and red, but it's all of the mild variety, and i find that has less flavor than medium or hot. as for me...I'll go for a Four-Way, please: http://whatscookingamerica.net/Beef/CincinnatiChili.htm yeah, it's not my own because i'm a horrible cook. And it's not Skyline because their recipe is a secret. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  14. You obviously know nothing whatsoever about Orange County, California. rofl, yeah. I'll tell him. OC is one of the most conservative counties in the country Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  15. eh, that's the old team who was "led" (*snort*) by carson palmer. Now they have some real heart on the field, the off-field antics have diminished a lot. Not like the raiders are much better. speaking of which.... HAHAHA. I'm so sorry for you (well, not really), but I do thank you from the bottom of my orange n' black heart for giving us so many great draft spots in return for one out-of-shape guy that really has no drive to play football anymore... Deal of the decade, IMHO. Well, for us. you guys? kinda got the short end of the stick with that one oh boy, i can't wait for the season to start! Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  16. oh man, my team had an incredible draft, for the third year in a row. The Bengals are killing it! I am so excited to see this young team mature. I'm not sure who kidnapped Mike Brown and replaced him with a GOOD owner, but I thank them... Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  17. and soon you'll be able to drive it with this: http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/deal-google-crazy-augmented-reality-glasses-225744545.html the future is now! Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  18. probably. The only issue i have is that most insure covers viagra, but nor birth control. how in the HELL iis that in any way....right? not sexist? fair? you pick the word. I'll tell you why. because underneath all the church/state rhetoric, it's really about good old fashioned "conservative" values and controlling the bodies of women. they can dress it up all they want in economic or constitutional terms, but really, that's the gist of it. So the OP is actually posing a very astute question. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  19. what strikes me most about that video is how completely effortless it is for her to hit all those notes perfectly. no strain, no squinting, no "belting it out". it was 100% natural for her to sing that way. you can tell by the way she's smiling and looking around, like she isn't even trying to sound that amazing. RIP Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  20. It's in the subtext of the whole thing though. The fact the guy thought his gun was the solution to that particular problem says a lot about how he deals with life in general. I'm sure there is a faction of folks out there who think he's some kind of "hero" now because he put a few holes into a laptop. However, it's not parenting; it's childish. IF, in fact, the video is actually real. IS it? Or is it simply a great way to get hits on YouTube? Now, there's a point! Could it be just for 'hits'? Then too, it is on the internet! Chuck Well, his clothes doesn't add up. Just because someone speaks with a southern accent or dresses like he does, doesn't mean they are stupid. If you read the accompanying article and comments he makes on facebook, he is actually more articulate than most of the people you come across on the net, including here >< I have no kids. i really have no opinion other than I think most teenagers now are snotnosed punks, but that could just be me getting old. I'm sure our parents said the same thing about us. However, I DO think that more parents need to learn how to say "NO" to their kids more often. 21. I'm not sure what that means - 'liberal' policies just mean new and out of the box (if you avoid the partisan sterotype of the term). They can either move us to more individualistic stances (not restricting marriage, school choice, partial privatization of health care, freedom of travel, speech, etc) or they can move us away and more towards a collectivist stance (restricting rights, telling us what kind of light bulb we have to buy, restricting business opportunities, religious persecution, hiring and firing restrictions, redistribution, usurping property rights) So saying, that guy's a "liberal" doesn't help - what kind of liberal is important the funny thing about parties - both the DNC and the RNC are organized groups intending to push an agenda that does NOT equal (in general) protection of individual freedoms, just the opposite, they want to exercise power, not release it - so they both are primarily collectivists by design. that's the irony Unless you're just buying into the partisan stereotypes, but I think you're smarter than that of course i'm smarter than that (and modest, too), which is why I put "liberal" in quotes. In recent years, the candidates who identify themselves as liberal or "democrat" or what have you, are *usually* the ones who seem to be more in favor of individual liberty in areas that I care most about. I;m gonna utter a political blasphemy here: Personally, the economy (gov't spending, etc) isn't a make or break issue for me like it is for the majority of people. Honestly, I don't care. I know from experience how government appropriations works, and i'm realistic about it, which leads to my complete apathy. I vote on social issues. call me idealistic, a hippy, a granola, but i'm a social liberal and if a candidate comes in and tells me he/she is anti-choice, anti-environment, anti-civil rights, anti-gay marriage, etc...well, he/she doesn't get my vote. That being said, I would vote for Gary Johnson had he not been completely marginalized by the media, for example, even though he doesn't identify as Liberal or democrat. This is also why you rarely see me post in "economy" threads, but i'm all over the gay marriage, environmental, abortion, etc threads. Also, I'm not so naive that I don't understand that they are all tied together. I know that. I just pick my arguments. 22. My name is BikerBabe, and this is my favorite post on the internet! (video game reference, sorry for those of you unenlightened by the largest sector of the entertainment industry) Just quoting to re-iterate. This is also why i usually end up voting for "liberal" candidates. And scooby, I'm pretty sure "deny cert" means (in laymans terms) that the SCOTUS won't hear the case, but i'm no expert. 23. In any event It is more data to go over This whole discussion is weird. You guys are claiming that they are distorting or misreading the datas, but David Rose is notoriously famous on doing just that! or when you call someone: Aren't you guys also "technically illiterate"? (in the sense that you guys don't seem like scientists). Otherwise, wouldn't it be better if you guys had a much more argumentative structure? Something in the format of: CASE 1 This is his argument Rebuttal: Why the model is completely wrong CASE 2 This is his argument Rebuttal: Why he is wrong again etc... This whole debate by casual people always seems without substance. I'm more of an economist/business analyst so I won't comment too much on the whole climate issue. However, its disturbing for people to keep using: "Oh the climate-warner's arguments are SOOO simplistic" yet the criticisms themselves are even more simplistic. These kind of discussions always feel like: "I argue so I can win the argument" rather than "I argue to learn about both sides". I guess I'm still naive enough to think that people want to argue in good faith. JMO Cheers! you must be new here.... It's ok, you'll come to understand in time Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  24. did an entire season of 8-way training and competition with them...never had an issue. at the end, your final trays can be used as teeth whitening trays too, if you want! Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  25. Here again, what's the fuss? It's like putting women's panties over the enemy's head. Big deal. I couldn't even detect the urine flow in the video. Since the repeal of DADT, there are probably videos of U.S.Troops urinating on each other. One of the Marines understood the meaning of "Golden Showers." Back in the day, troops would often cut off an ear and attach it to their web gear after leaving a unit death card in the corpse's mouth. It's called combat and not everyone is cut out for it. But, if you are, you better have the right attitude about it. Otherwise, you won't live very long. you're joking, right? This is a troll post. It has to be. Because someone claiming to be a Christian would never write something like this in seriousness. right? A Christian would never think this is an OK thing to do, just part of war, just "boys will be boys". Trolling, right?
