  3. ... and gold!! A wise man once told me "Investing your money in silver and gold is foolish. Instead, invest lead and brass. If you have a decent stockpile of lead and brass, you can get all of the silver and gold you want." Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! 4. I searched for info on this particular lens without success. Does anyone have experience with this lens in the skydiving realm? I am looking for Inner Focus and zoom as a replacement for my Canon 18-55 Kit lens. I have had a lot of issues with the kit lenses in our dirty desert environment and am hoping that the inner focus will help. Any suggestions (that won't break the bank)? 5. As opposed to the usual "this guy must be nuts" looks you get at the DZ that you get now? Just kidding. Sorry to see the glue for the ERAU team shipping out for the summer. 6. Doesn't Skydive AZ have this policy in place as well? Last time I was in Eloy I had people asking me about the policy at Red Rock Skydiving because they were told they would have to make all jumps with an instructor, or coach, until they had their A license requirements completed and paperwork submitted to USPA. 8. At my local DZ we have a Turbo 206 that regularly takes 4-5 jumpers to 17,500 MSL in under 30 mins. Yes we have O2 onboard. I believe I have heard the ceiling of this plane is 21,000 MSL. 9. *** This is what I had in mind but I forgot those key items enclosed within the reserve pack tray. (Tired from a long night at work) Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! CWR #23 (It's called CRW, add an e if you like, but I ain't calling it CFS. FU FAI!)
  10. It is my understanding that in some containers, the cutter is placed on top of the pilot chute/closing flaps. In this instance if the cutter is pinching the loop the container is effectively locked closed and will not open, even if you pull the reserve ripcord. This is the big issue. If your container has the cutter located below the reserve pilot chute and closing flaps, the you could still manually open your reserve (altitude permitting). 11. This is true for Airspeed not Arsenal, Arsenal are still charging $950/hr. According to their webpage $950/hr but just last week a friend paid $170/ 10 mins for coaching with Jason Peters. 12. Tunnel time in Eloy is based on $950/hour when booked directly with a Skyventure coach. http://www.skyventureaz.com/Staff/Default.aspx Prices are slightly higher when booking through Airspeed, Arsenal, etc. Alternatively, you can book directly with Skyventure at their posted rates (see link) The rate then fluctuates and becomes a better deal at the 30 minute mark 30 min coached = $455 = $15.17/min 60 Min coached = $890 = $14.83/min http://www.skyventureaz.com/Experienced/Rates.aspx warning: turn your volume down I hear that the coaches are paid way less if you book through the tunnel and not directly with them. 13. Two years ago today I lost one of my best friends. I still think about him every jump. Back in the sport going full throttle. Thanks for all the good times everyone, especially the big ones with Verley. Blues! Fly free Rob! Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! 14. I fixed it for you. As an addict, I say the more time the better. You instructors may disagree. I recommend people to start with 10 minutes and increase time as they build stamina. No sense in pushing too fast as I see people getting sloppy and the learning stops. The tunnel is the best tool I have ever experienced and recommend that all of our students and new A licensees (hell everybody) do as much tunnel as you can afford. It is cheaper than jumping (per minute of working time) and even more so when you are able to safely fly with friends. Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! 15. +1 for the T2i although I bought mine thinking I would have the video option as a back up if my Sony took a dump. However, I do not believe I would use the video feature in freefall as it appears that you must manually focus in video mode. Still a nice camera that meets you requirements. I picked mine up for

  17. I'll start off by saying I have never ground launched (intentionally). In recent years the Mingus hang glider launch site has been improved and can now accommodate Paragliders and we see them quite often. As for a ground launched canopy, I would be most concerned with a suitable landing area. The mountain is covered with thick manzanita and other brush. There are several two track roads criss-crossing the mountain, however. Are you local? Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! 19. I finally made it into a "Post your best shot" post.
  20. Scroll through the previous photos and you will see that it almost caused a wrap of the row 4 wing and their lockup on the opposite side. They sorted things out after falling away from the formation. As for the remaining 9 in the formation, It was flying fine, the row 3 wing dropped their lock-up, so we broke it down to the 4 way diamond. The video should be out in a couple of weeks. As for seeing it, well I am not sure it will hit Youtube unless Laszlo posts it for all to see. I had an awesome seat (#4) for this wrap and cutaway sequence. I only wish I had had been wearing a camera. Chico had a clean reserve deployment and all of his gear was recovered. :-) Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! 21. Brian and Kirk deserve a huge THANK YOU for their well laid out Big Way CRW event in Eloy this past weekend. Additional thanks to Pam Pangburn and Laszlo Andacs for their in air camera work, and the entire Skydive AZ staff for helping make this happen. It was great to meet all of the CRW dawgs and see some old friends from the way back machine. It is nice to be back "fondling the nylon". Now, who wants to part with their 176 or 160? Does anyone have my old one stashed in a closet somewhere? I am looking forward to seeing you all in the near future. Maybe over Easter at the Oka Cup. 22. Saw this in another thread and thought it belonged here as well. Re: [trig78] GOBANDIT GPS HD - NEW [In reply to] I have been trying the ContourGPS....without much luck in Wingsuiting, it never gets a good fix and then it turns out it isn't that interesting to watch either! It does have a much better rear door and still mode that the 1080P. Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! CWR #23 (It's called CRW, add an e if you like, but I ain't calling it CFS. FU FAI!)

  24. Just use the 3M sticky tape and mount the Go Pro on the end of the telephoto. That should work. Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! CWR #23 (It's called CRW, add an e if you like, but I ain't calling it CFS. FU FAI!)
  25. I built my first camera helmet based on the Mantle design and eventually ordered a new Mantle when BH was offering 40% off. I love the platform as it is a huge amount of real estate for my older tape camera and still with room left over. Trouble I have is the cutaway system doesn't. In checking with others using the BH Cutaway system most have never tried it on the ground. General consensus is that they will "most likely" try to get out the way they got in and use the cutaway as a last resort. Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings!
