  3. why do you ask? most attempting such a feat will get busted up. wouldn't it be better to get familiar with ONE site and then concentrate on developing skills? DON'T PANIC The lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. sloppy habits -> sloppy jumps -> injury or worse
  4. o.k., so if he could use the copter to land on the ESB, why not do the same on the UN? either I'm a blonde, or there is some sort of magot-logic that alludes me... can ya help a brother out? personally, I read the attacks on Tom and don't understand them. they seem full of allegations and conclusions but lack any evidence. I read Tom's posts, and he generally backs up his thoughts with facts. until you provide supporting facts, I'll find it difficult to agree with your opinions. potential exit point conversation: "hey, go ahead and jump, it's safe!" "in this wind? how do you know that?" "what? you don't believe me? JUMP!" "uh, you sure about that? this looks shakey..." "it is safe! must I spell it out for you?" "YES! I don't understand. educate me!" hmmmm. proof that Miles D is damaging to the sport? can't be done. by the time we would all agree that someone's actions are damaging, the situation would be out of control. it's like on a jump when things look perfect, but don't feel right. many jumpers will climb down, feeling it was the right decision. proof? well, they can still jump again. how do you prove Russian Roullette is dangerous? heck, squeeze that trigger. if nothing happens, wow, this is cool and safe? careful, you seem to be posting a fact. if you keep doing this, others might be able to draw their own conclusions! can you really allow the rest of us to think for ourselves? . 7. If you can't find 4 batteries, you can always stop by and get a few containers of pool chemicals I have in the shed. just use tent stakes. cheaper, smaller, lighter, and more secure! New rig..

maybe. maybe not. while I admire VBK's efforts, not all designs work as planned. they DO have a great track record. VBK demonstrate tremendous creativity that must stem from asking new questions. so, keep asking yours! New rig..

the VKB guys appear to know how to R & D new ideas. remember, an airfoil creates a differential pressure between the bottom skin and the top skin. in this case, the bottom skin is his chest, torso, and wingsuit. there may be very little air pressing up against that extension. but hey, that is what test jumps are for! good luck! Training for BASE

um, that is why you get the pilot's consent. I guess I didn't make that too clear... DON'T PANIC The lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. sloppy habits -> sloppy jumps -> injury or worse

    skydive mag

I thought good BASE pay attention to incredible detail to prevent incidents. they don't just shrug and say "ah hell, it was bound to happen..." bragging about ending a popular event? that doesn't sound like a way to gain respect. it also doesn't show much respect for the people trying to keep sites legal. maybe I'll feel different if I ever have a cliff strike (but I doubt I'll post the video on the internet). remember, the best BASE jumps are the ones nobody knows about. Training for BASE

wha??? a BASE jumper advising someone to obey every law? does the devil need woolen underwear? certainly don't use a BASE rig from an aircraft in the US without the pilot's consent. who knows, the pilot might want to get into BASE as well... Surviving BASE

this post shows great formatting skills! it appears to be a rather cumbersome attempt to analyze the risk/reward ratio for each jumper (a.k.a. cost benefit analysis...). those choosing a lower value are signalling the importance of jumping. those choosing a higher number are admitting they have priorities outside of BASE (such as a family, job, etc.). everyone must choose their own path through life... 18. if any activity demands we all take responsibility for ourselves, it is BASE. just because someone with 1000+ jumps says you're good to go doesn't make it so. everyone must make their own call. and if you make the call, how can you NOT be responsible? 20. I like the idea of strong winds... unfortunately, I've scouted many towers set within a wooded area. one 1000+ footer had cuts in the trees for the guy wires and anchors. I'm not yet comfortable putting a big, docile canopy in a confined area with turbulence created by high ground winds. yuck. 22. true. while the Go Fast RG event is an "invitational," this event seems more like an "open" event. and if you are trying to raise money, why limit the number of competitiors? 23. it's not HOW you learn, but WHAT you learn that is significant. every path has strengths and weaknesses. none are perfect. make your call, make the most of it, and enjoy! 25. I don't think they can stop you from jumping, just from competing. doesn't that bridge still host death-camps? hopefully, they'll consider some sort of catagories. it sounds like a great way to challenge people, but I can't compete against Miles.
