  1. John Eddie Let Me Down Hard "Don't let me down easy, oh make it hurt like hell. Don't you kiss my cheeck, don't you wish me well. ..." I love this song. Sorry I couldn't find all the lyrics, they are really good. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  2. You suck, I'm moving to Florida. [anoying wining tone]New England sucks. We can't even go skyjumpin, or anything.[/anoying wining tone] Way to improvise, though. Skydivers and Diver Drivers are real creative when we want to be. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...

  4. Yeah I owe too. Not as much as you though... only $3200. I wonder how I'll spend it...? ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...

    Jobs

I'm quitting my job in 5 weeks, living at DeLand to jump all day every day for a month, then hiking from Georgia to Maine. Be back just in time for WFFC 2004. How's that for a career plan? ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  6. I wouldn't buy one, when it's free... I've looked at it online many times. I use it to study for the tests I will have to take for my B and C lisences. Edited to add jump #. I have 92 jumps. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  7. This is a cool thread. I often feel realy out of place with my skydiving friends. When I first got into the sport I had been sober for about a year and I didn't even want to be around after the prop stopped. But then I just got used to it. I hang out with them now when they're drinking and I don't mind. A big thing for me is when I have to buy beer. It doesn't happen much, but it makes me uncomfortable because I don't like alcohol. Not only do I not drink, but I hate the stuff. I don't go around preaching that noone should drink, but if someone asked I always tell them my honest opinion - you are injesting poison. Now, everyone is allowed to do whatever they want, but don't make me buy posion for my friends. I've thought about buying icecream or something, but I always just cave in and buy the freakin beer, because I don't like rocking the boat. Can any non-drinkers let me know what they do when it is their time to buy beer? Thankx ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  8. I love my Benchmade Osborne 942SBT. I use it for Backpacking mostly. I don't carry it around other than that. It's light weight and I can trust it not to get rusted to shit on rainy days (or rainy weeks). ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  9. Wow, looks like you are already getting a lot of advice. I am thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail starting in April so I trained last summer. I started with short day-hikes with a pretty light pack, then went to over-nights. Then I did 2-3 night hikes in the mountains (the rough terrain really does you in). Then I ended the summer with a 100-mile hike in Maine. We brought all of the grear and food we needed for 8 days. I like going ultra-light weight so I can get a lot of miles in each day. Find light weight gear. Depending on the terrain, wear trail running shoes not boots. They say a pound on your feet is like 6 pounds on your back. Go to http://www.backpacker.com they have great gear reviews. PM me if you need any specific advice. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  10. Oops... Aviatrr beat me to that punch Great minds think alike (I sure hope you are a great mind and not a wacko) ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  11. http://www.nationalflight.com/kiloalpha.htm I hope that comes out clicky. This is the website for the upgrade - it reads 2,500 FPM climb rate from in-flight testing. The 4000 FPM is probably a theoretical thing, you know with zero weight and perfect conditions. Or maybe they just lied. Any plane can climb that fast if you lie That's just my $0.02. I don't know much about planes, but I read very well. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  12. Oh, I love Ben and Jerry's. My favorite is Mint Chocolate Cookie. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  13. Dylan Thomas..yeah that's probably my favorite. But I like this one too - mostly because it is simple. I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. I small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself. D.H.Lawernce -Self-pity ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  14. I'd love to see GPS used to track where a skydiver is in space. I know Bird-people are looking into this already to track their flights. And, I don't think it will be soon, but eventually someone is going to safely land without an open parachute. With a Bird suit, ya know... But, first, we need to invent a much more efficient flying machine to take us to altitude for less money! And a machine to pack a parachute.... ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  15. I'm not a BASE jumper. I have about 100 skydives and said I'd never BASE jump. But now I know that is because I didn't know anything about it. It was the thing where you are scared of what you don't understand. Now, I can't wait until my friends say I'm good enough to go BASE jumpin. This is a little different then trying something, having a bad experience, and swearing off it. Skydiving was the same way for me. It was scary, but then I saw how the gear really worked, and now it's just a part of my life - like driving to work. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  16. I have about 80 jumps and 2 hours of tunnel time on my FreeZR. I love it. It's got the clear visor. It's got great view range for RW. And the helmet is super-quiet. I love the internal pocket for my ProTrack. There is a little square of pad that comes out to make a real pocket so it doesn't poke out into your ear. I did stop flipping the visor up though. I found the repeated motion loosened the tensioning screws a little, and it was a hassle to tighten them back up. Maybe I'm just lazy. Anyway, I love my FreeZR. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  17. I was new to the tunnel too, but I did 2 hours in 2 days over the xmas holiday. I am in really great shape and it ripped me in two. I was able to split it up with a lot of people and never did more than 15 minutes in any given hour, and the day was 8 hours long (first session at 07:30, last around 16:00). But I'm with Ari on this one, if you do this much time, you may waste the last few sessions just trying to stay stable with your fatigue. Oh, and the first day was all belly, the second was all freefly. You use totally different muscles for the 2 disciplines. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  18. Sabre 210, some hard openings. I think I'll go with a Sabre2 for my next canopy. It's good to go used for your first rig. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  19. Yeah, I know of lots of sites that describe gear they used, miles hiked, where they stayed, and the great people they met along the way. I don't think I'll put up a site like that after my hike, but I do plan to create a journal so it's a possibility. I did just find out that I have to hike faster than expected because the WFFC starts on the 6th. I was planning to finish on the 19th (my birthday) but now I'm changing my plan to accomodate my new addiction. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  20. Robotics Engineer. I test Software for Robots used in the Semi-conductor industry. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  21. 70 jumps in 2003. I started jumping in August, though. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  22. No, no web page, not a lot of RJ45 jacks in the trees in the Appalachian Mountains. But it's nice to hear that someone else has a Life's To Do List. Thanks for the greetings all. It's nice to be in the mix. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  23. Hi everybody. I'm new to the sport and to the forums. I've been lurking for a little while, but here's my introduction: I did my first jump in Aug03 in Maine and went to DeLand, Florida on xmas day with 40 jumps. Now I'm back up north with 92 jumps and a couple hours of tunnel time (That thing rocks!). It was pretty obvious for me after my first jump that I'm here to stay. I had my own rig before I got my A License. This sport is awesome, but the people are the best part. (It's all about people and gravity I guess.) I also like Backpacking and I'm hiking the Appalachian Trail starting in April04. I'll be done in time for the WFFC. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
