  1. The sense of doing it is that it was a safer place to do that drill. A head wind on one side is a tail wind on the other. That way they could make one turn and land instead of doing 2 turns. The theory makes sense to me. They were supposed to land on the beach. They made a mistake. I know I make mistakes. Tom is one jumper who thinks of all scenarios before jumping. He himself landed in the water earlier that day(hoseing his cell phone and radio) because he didn't want to turn low. Tom is a good teacher. If you want to flame Tom, try his fasion sense. You'll have a lot more luck there. Be Safe -Bill

Jaap got us started so let me throw in my 2 cents. Congratulations on your 2 BASE jumps, hope you had a great time. My advise is to go skydiving. Do crazy freefly exits and party with your friends. Find someone and fall in love. Hell even get married and have kids. That way you will have had a full life when you come back to BASE. Or you will at least have better canopy skills and a stronger notion of why you want to jump. It would suck to fuck yourself up BASE jumping before you even know why you're here. 3. Thank you John, but there were plenty of jumpers around and more info is not needed at this time. Thanks for your offer. Be Safe -Bill
  4. An inspiring life is a noble life. Track Forever. Fly Free.
  5. This thread reminds me of a jump I did on an early iteration of a wingsuit that Tony made. It hangs on the wall in the free fly bunker at Z-hills. As far as I know I'm the only one to actually jump it. That's what Tony told me anyway. The free fliers called it Tony's Death Suit. Death Suit It's not a skydive video, it just shows the suit. TF Roll Call

I'm already here, too. It was a little windy today but some of us still got 6 in. NickNitro and Vince did 8, a couple were even packed See everyone soon. If you need a lift from the Twin Falls airport call Abbie -Bill ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...

    Dragon Canopy

Have you tried calling the manufacturers and asking if they have stock conopies? I would call Marty at Assylum and aslo Apex to see what they might have. They are much better canopies. -Bill ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  9. Cornishe is packing a reserve in our living room and he says that if you put the accelerometer up your ass you will get the best reading. I thought maybe the helmet would be good, but center mass would give the best readings. Oh, and feel free to haze him because he wears scrubs to pack reserves... what a freek -Bill
  10. That's a pretty loaded question. The G's are just Acceleration. In this case negative acceleration, also known as deceleration. So you have to determine how long it takes to slow you down. (v1-v2)/t And the variables are incredibly diverse. You ask "terminal and slider up". What kind of slider, what kind of canopy, what is your terminal velocity? Are you factoring in a forward vector like in a track? It has a lot to do with how you pack and what gear you use; so you would have to make an experiment and test a theory by jumping. You could probably analize the jumptrack data from Protrac on a skydive? So, to answer your question, No I don't know. But my Engineering brain got away from me there for a few minutes. For now I like using terms like "spanked" and "rocked". I also like "instant canopy" and "jesus titty-fucking christ" to describe my brisk openings on terminal jumps. -Bill ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...

  12. There's maybe 3 or 4 of us jumpin during the day this week, and a couple of the locals are ussually good for a hit-and-run jump around 5pm most every day. See ya. -Bill ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  13. Wow, that is a really bad subject line for this forum. But, Jesus Titty Fucking Christ!!! Congrats Ray I smell a Vegas Bachalor Party

    Tracking suit.

I think in the beginning a good freefly suit is the best thing for tracking dives. Especially if you want to fly with other people. Like Hookit says, the PF pants and jacket are for balls-out speed, that's why we use them. But before you have skill, you will fish-tale across the sky. And even once you master the suit it won't do you much good with others on a skydive. I'd stick with the freefly suit. You might do well to post this question in the freefly forum, if there is one... ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...

    Skydive Idaho

Private airstrip located just West of Boise. Large grass landing area, covered packing, and many other amenities. Good skydives and good vibes.
  16. For the reasons of this episode Miles counts each time he jumps off the bridge as 1 jump. He did 10 today by the way. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  17. This is not the place to discuss activities that are illegal. Noone on this site would ever jump in a National Park - they have shown us the light by making it illegal and we are nothing but grateful to them for this. -Bill

  19. Yeah, this just seems like a no-brainer. Use a rock, it won't spill battery acid all over your $2000 rig or shock the shit out of you when you grab your clamps. I'm all for using what is on hand: rocks, a friends rig, a small child; but a battery is a little out there. But that's just me talkin' ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...

    SLC to TF

Sorry I can't help with the ride, but I know Mark won't see this because he doesn't come on here. I think he will be out of town at a Ski-BASE event. I think the event is 23-25April. Hope you can get up here. We'll keep the bridge warm for you. -Bill (A loyal memeber of Mark's crew) ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  21. My non-vented canopy costs less than my vented canopy and I like the openings better for terminal jumps. If I only had 1 canopy for all my jumps, I would get a vented canopy (specifically a Black Jack). But there are still plenty of jumps where I would jump my Ace (non-vented). Wingsuit jumps for sure. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  22. I can't speek specificaly to the DW, but my Black Jack is always better off with the fine mess. I even jump fine mesh on the BJ from my local 486ft bridge. I have like 20 V1 jumps at the ITW with the BJ and fine mesh and the openings are great. On my ACE I would use fat mesh on anything under 6 or 7 seconds. But I go rite back to the fine mesh if it's terminal. So with vented canopies, I always go with fine mesh. These are just my experiences. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  23. Yeah Eric is crazy. I can't believe he made us jump in that wind. Sweet 8-way. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
