  1. I have not flown many suits, just Bird-Man Classic, GTI, and S3. I think you will find that different suits are good for different things; i.e. aerobatics, glide ration, fast inflation for BASE, or flocking. Though all suits can be used for most everything, it's the very talented pilot that will want to specialize the suit for different disciplines. As someone who doesn't always jump out of planes, I have a very good feeling about Roberts new suit, but we will have to wait until more suits are made to see the proof. I think the V1 will have more range than any other suit on flocking dives and the max for air time and glide ratio will be higher with highly skilled pilots. And hopefully the contour of the arm will be more ergonomic to cut down on possible fatigue on long flights. That's my humble opinion. Have at it... ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  2. I like discussions like this. As an engineer, I love coming up with an idea that seems crazy. Then, as a group we can bring it back to reality. I think this big PC of yours would take too long to open. Then it would take a lot of pressure to hold it's form. And, you're rite, it would ancor the canopy real good The biggest reason is that the 48 does the job, and why f with a good thing. Tom, what do you say - wanna try it over water? PCs may be the most important part of gear and discussions like this may prove very helpful. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  3. I went to the Bird-Man "closet" in DeLand and tried on their stock-built suits (Small, Med, Large, X-Large) and fit into a Large really good. So I bought it and jumped it at Skydive DeLand that day. "Instant Gratification" Or, you could contact the others looking for a GTI, put in an order for 4 or more suits and get a discount. Call BM for details. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  4. I think the monster was there. You just helped bring it out safely. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  5. I second that! Great flocks and a bunch of different experiences. 1. The midnight 3-way (awesome job Chris and Mike). 2. 208 seconds from 22600 ft this morning on my GTI. 3. Chopped arm wing because I got my undershirt caught in the zipper. 4. Chopped my main because it wouldn't stop spinning. Z-hills sure rocked the house. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  6. 4500 (break off) 3500 (pull) 2000 (what the fuck, why haven't you pulled yet, your fucking Cypress is going to go off in like 5 seconds dude.) I've only heard the flat-line once and that was after I'd already pulled. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  7. I vote for Zep, too. In a class all their own. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  8. It was my brother's bachelor party and I was up all night drinkin in the casino (Vegas Bachelor Party) and the guys decide we need to go to the space needle-lookin thing. Details are all little fuzzy because I was drunk, a lot. But we get to the place and we go up to the bar at the top and we make a wrong turn and walk into the biggest guy I had ever seen. He was in the door way and I looked around him into this little room (this was not easy - I tell you this guy was huge) and see Britney Spears talking to a couple of people. The guy steps forward and says "you need to go around" - "no problem huge dude, we'll go around." That's it for my story. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  9. Yeah, women who climb have nice shoulders and upper backs, that's awesome. But the down side is they sometimes develop man-hands. Those huge sausage fingers, that's a little off-putting. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  10. I have no main, it's getting re-lined. I would figure some way to jump without it, but I'm going to Florida next weekend anyway. I'll jump plenty then. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  11. Lets convince Consumer Reports to do it. Or better yet, a government grant ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  12. You gotta play the double jeopardy rule with the beer offenses. I once did one jump with 1) new helmet 2) new suit 3) new ProTrack 4) first out of a Cessna 182. 4 beer offenses and only 1 case of beer owed. Because you can only owe 1 case for a single jump. (Rules and participation may vary. Consult your locals for current standards.) After the jump, one guy said I should have landed in the experienced jumper area too. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  13. I'm with ya. I'm gonna live in Florida for about a month, starting in 2 weeks. I'll be jumpin all day every day
  14. I like spy novels where the hero shoots the terrorists and gets the girl. If you like that stuff too you might like Vince Flynn. I would suggest reading his books in order though because some of them play off the older ones. Term Limits is his best, I loved that book. I'm also reading the Thru-hiker's Handbook, but that is a guide to hiking the Appalachian Trail so it might not apply. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  15. Another vote for Atheist. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  16. If I had my rig I would head to Orange in a heartbeat. I just sent my main in for new lines. They're probably jumpin in Pepperell, too. Probably only weekends though. We jumped in Orange on 14Feb and it wasn't nearly this nice. I can afford to be a weather snob though because I'm going to DeLand in 2 weeks. Blue Skies (and warmer weather) ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  17. I like Paul Oakenfold, too. He has a lot of good stuff. I love: Ready, Steady, Go Freefall (Skydive) Starry-Eyed Surprise ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  18. You gotta be sly, and know the double jeopardy rule. I did 1 jump with a new jump suit, new alti, new helmet, and my first out of a certain plane. That's 4 "beer offenses" for the price of one. But, yeah I have gotten away with some stuff. And one offense was disputed so I only bought 1/2 case of Heinekin for that one. I don't feel bad when someone doesn't catch me for beer because I don't ever drink. I actually have 94 jumps now, so I'll be getting Pied soon, too. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  19. I think the general rule is that you are not supposed to do this... add up the totals. It makes the denial a lot more difficult. (Don't worry the word Priceless does not appear anywhere below this line) AFF (I count all 20 jumps) = $2000 Used rig = $3500 Jump Suit = $300 Helmet = $300 ProTrack = $275 Alti = $150 Gloves = $30 2 Power Tools (don't open beer bottles with this) = $30 100 jumps = $1900 2 hours coached tunnel time = $1600 Travel to Florida = $300 Cases of beer for firsts = ~$50 Total = $10435 If I had it to do over again... I'd spend even more ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  20. It had been almost 2 months since I got back from Florida (I live in Massachusetts). But I got to jump to weeks ago in Orange, MA. It was about 0deg. F at altitude and a little windy, and we landed in the snow; but it was awesome. It's cold up here in New England, but we're used to it and you can ussually find a few nuts to go up if the temp. gets above 40deg. F on the ground. I'm going back to DeLand in 19 days. It's gonna be awesome. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  21. ...naw I think I jumped the gun on this one. It's not that tune. Techno is tough... ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  22. ...sorry I don't think that was it. I guess all techno sounds the same to me. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  23. I posted my response in Talk Back. I think it is Paul Oakenfold "Lost in Love". Video starts at about minute 2:00 of the song. Nice video by the way. ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  24. Sounds Paul Oakenfold "Lost in Love". Video starts at about minute 2:00 of the song. I like this guy's stuff for skydiving soundtracks. Also look up: Freefall (Skydive) and Starry Eyed Surprise ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
  25. Hey I was wondering if I need to get my B-License to get my C-License? I checked the SIM and it reads that one needs an A to get a B, but it changes the wording for the C. It reads that you either need a B or all the skills and training required for a B to get a C. Maybe I'll have to take both tests? ~ Fear is the thief of dreams...
