  1. For me the V1 gave best results when the armwing span was cut like the guy in the picture in the performance flying article. Anyhow, IMO, the Vampire arm wings must be held in such a way that the end of the arm wing forms a tube. There is a reason for why the wings are attached the way they are...let the trailing edge form by itself. Tony, If I get to do 5 jumps in the new V2 this weekend, I will try to better that 2.14 L/D that Tornolf is getting. I am nearly 35-40 lbs heavier out the door than he is for less than two inches of extra height. Also flying a big rig 176R and Sabre2 170. I have done one wingsuit jump in a borrowed phantom since March this year. We can see how important Currency is once someone knows how to fly for for glide. Kris.

  3. That what the original poster wanted. Kris.
  4. I know...I don't fly in flocks where I have to bend my legs very much. Most of my flights are solos and the few flocks I get to do at headcorn, we fly at a nice pace. Now that Pierre has his S6..the flights will be even more comfortable. Kris.
  5. It is definately one of the V2, RM and the Trigger. Not trying to avoid the question. I have not flown the RM or the Trigger yet. If it has to be one suit and right now, I choose the V2. Kris.
  6. It depends, if you are a lightweight the Vampire can be flown slowly a little bit easier. But the suit was never designed to hang back and float it was designed to fly from lift generated by speed. To fly slow you need to increase the camber or the armwing, the more you are loading it the more camber is needed. This can add strain and instability. But if you flock where everyone is in Vampires then you get the picture. In case you didn't know, I am not amongst the few people. Kris.
  7. The difference is not in the brand of the suit. The difference is in how the area is distributed. You made a comment( albeit jokingly) that a lot of V2s were for sale. A few people complained about not being able to flock easily in a V2. What is the characteristic of the V2 that makes flocking in the suit a pain? It is the balance of the suit. There is no math...just common sense, should people choose to use it . Look at the attached picture...what happens when that suit if flown with the knees bent?...the amount of available area becomes relatively less. This makes flocking with the knees bent hard. The opposite is true for suits that have a lot of arm wing area and relatively less legwing area. They are a joy to flock in but a pain to fly for max performance. Given my choice of flying style it should be no surprise then that the three suits I own have the same kind of balance. V2, Rigor Mortis and the Trigger. Kris.
  8. Can you explain the score in the Alti-2 time competion? O.k, assumed that the time competition was a slow fall competition. Its just a trackingderby type competition judged on distance. Kris.
  9. In a lot of wind. 237km/h is the average for the leader. Will be interesting to see what he does in the glide competition. Kris.
  10. There are good illistrations of the 'bound vortices' that Kasper Witold researched in patent 3,831,885 that are mentioned in riggerrob's post. The bound vortex that is discussed in that book(original post) is different to the one researched by Kasper Witold. www.twitt.org is an interesting site. Kris.
  11. precisely shaped ?? Why do you say that? IMO, most wingsuit wings are just approximations. To the original poster, go for it. If it does not come off as expected you would have learnt a lot in the process. The back inlet can either be contained between two ribs or be two seperate inlets. Good Luck, Kris.
  12. Simple practical reasons...do you want to know? The new s-fly looks good. Kris.
  13. Balloon ZP is not that flimsy . It is tougher than the ZP used for canopies. Not as tough as the sail material but there are good and bad reasons for each choice. Kris.
  14. I wore a full face and did not use the oxygen system correctly and passed out on my first 23K wingsuit jump at Rantoul. When full consciousness returned, I was flying stable around 18-19k. If you are in Mullins plane, there should be no problems it has the best O2 system. Just make sure you get a good seal between the mask and your face. You will feel the oxygen flowing. I did a few high altitude WS jumps. Agree with Chuck, they are tiring and the only reason I'd want to go higher than 15k is to build a flock. Kris.
  15. Has anyone travelled via Haugesund? Ryanair flies to Haugesund. Ferry Schedule Kris.
  16. the tailwing was flapping like a motherfucker for some of the flight because he was flying dirty to get down close to the slope. I actually thought he was pretty clean and not flying erratic at all. I liked that video. Chuck I have not seen Scott Blands legwing(whatever suit he's flying) flap lilke that in any of the videos posted. You have no doubt seen numerous people fly dirty at close proximity. Will you agree that the flap from flying dirty occurs maybe every 5-10 secs not 10 times every sec? Dave is flying with his legs almost extended and relaxing by letting the arms up. The tail will flap like that (as seen in the video) if the length of the suit is too long(or the suit is too loose around the torso...like it was measured with winter clothes on and now its summer and a few layers are missing). It can be seen when Dave is talking on the radio how there is slack around the body area of the suit. When the legs are done up and he is ready to exit, the slack is gone. Well, not gone, it has been pulled downwards because of the legwing being done up and the sitting position. Kris.
  17. If money is an issue, go the smoke pants route. It will save you a bunch towards the jumps and the wingsuit(eventually). The tracking garb are rmostly only useful for BASE. You don't need a tracksuit to simulate exiting and opening while keeping the arms at your side. Good Luck Kris.
  18. The Lateral width should not be a problem. My Mirage G4 has cut-in laterals and they are pretty wide. That is the rig i have used for almost all of my wingsuit jumps. Kris.
  19. Never owned a Forerunner. Was looking into it but got the edge units instead. I own an Edge 205, 305, ForeTrex 201 and a GPSMAP 76CSX (external antenna for jumping). There are many new generation bluetooth GPS recievers that are better from a size perspective. Kris.
  20. Thanks Yuri. Are you jumping the Trango 185? It must not matter to you at 3+ L/D in the suit . What is the glide of the canopy like? Kris.
  21. Kind of an important typo . Kris.
