  1. Knew a guy named David Arnquist (AKA David Armtwist) that had an underdeveloped arm (baby arm if you will) from birth and he was/is still? a very prolific skydiver for many years. Has thousands of jumps and worked as a loader/mechanic on several DC-3s on the boogie circuit back in the day. He flew and landed his canopy with only one arm and was always in place, on time in his slot on many, many big way dives. If this person you speak of wants to do it, it can be done. 2. You should consider yourself lucky that you only invested four months of your life on her cowardly ass. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  3. Damn the environment, who needs any better reason than that not to have kids ......... uh, and that's only the beginning. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  4. When I was stationed at Korat AFB in Thailand in 1969, the base post office set out several boxes of Christmas cards like mentioned above. While checking my mail that morning I noticed five or six GIs tearing the cards open as fast as they could, checking for money, then throwing them in the trash. 5. Here's a poster that I still have from 1983 when Chris was jumping at Decatur, TX. Chris was a good friend and lived on the DZ in a small hangar that he'd made into the coolest apartment. The poster was left behind in the apartment where I found it very shortly after he departed for the Army. Had an erie feeling then that I needed to grab it and hang on to it. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=91947; Thanks to efs4ever for uploading it to the board for me. 6. There was a P-82 that sat on display just outside the barracks I lived in when in basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio. Turns out that the CAF has that actual aircraft their inventory, however. doesn't appear to be flyable anymore.http://www.p82.org/history.html Never got tired of looking at that thing and in retrospect, feel lucky to have even seen one.
  7. From deleted post 05-06-05: The first time I ever jumped at a big DZ was at old Z-Hills in 1979 when I had 60 jumps. I had gotten my rig back from the rigger the night before from a reserve repack, did a hurried reinstall of the main, packed and got on a private jet in Dallas heading to Tampa with dreams of skydiving glory in my head. Finally got to Z Hills, got on a DC-3 load organizer load, exited with the wrong group, opened with my canopy in backward, landed waaaay off the DZ, hiked (slunk) back to my car, went back to my hotel and did other things besides skydiving that weekend. 9. Everyone keeps referring to the 80's do I not rememebr them in the mid 70's or even earlier? I seem to remember they started dissapearing after Snyders square came out which would have been what 72? Hell, my first jump was a static lined square in 1984, heck I might have been the first student to jump a square in Texas. Did a one foot stand up in the peas, of course Bob Chaffin talked me in with the radio strapped to the top of my helmet, dad threw me out of the 182 (they didnt trust him to bring me back to the dz
  10. Works fine though, I had four cutaways on my Classiflyer. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  11. Jay, if its a single keel and orange, it most likey used to be mine. I gave it to John Stanford when I quit then when Story took over his rigging business he ended up with all that stuff. Oh yeah and Mike, you taught me how to pack that same canopy at Decatur. I am glad you told me that, I have wanted to buy that thing from John for a few years, now I know what he has in it Well I paid $25.00 for it in 1983 so at least you have a starting point for negotiations, The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

  13. Man, draining the pool is a pretty drastic measure in my experience, the only time we ever drained ours was to have it replastered. A good pool man should be able to deal with whatever problem you have with the existing water. Our pool got so bad before the pool guy came into our lives that I expected the Creature From the Black Lagoon to emerge from it some nights but with the proper know how, the pool guy got it straightened out in 2 days. If that green/black sludge could be cleared up, seems like yours can be too. Are you using a pool sweep such as a Creepy Crawley or some such? The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  14. You can do it if I can bro. After 20 years, I went "cold turkey" five weeks and three days ago. I can tell you where and when the last puff I had was and how much I enjoyed it. Finally got to the point where I just shamed myself into laying 'em down. I don't miss them or even think about them at all anymore. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  15. How much are you shelling out for all those chemicals you're dumping down the drain? Like has been brought up before, hire somebody to come twice a month to clean the pool and keep the chemicals in balance. With all the chemicals you're dumping in the water and the frustration it seems to be causing, a 'pool boy" would be money well spent and a bargain at twice the price. 16. Jay, why not go with the original logo? The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  17. I'll sure go along with your choice there and the absolute funniest scene for me was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt5SpujxYaY. Tears still run down my cheeks from laughing at it. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  18. Saw this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LTV_XC-142 at the LTV plant at Dallas Naval Air Station in about 1964. It was hovering about 20 feet off the ground for about 45 minutes due to the fact that they couldn't extend the landing gear. Finally landed it very gingerly on the belly with no injuries and little damage. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

  20. Wow, John Harris, a name I haven't thought of in 22 years. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  21. Last I heard and this was several years ago, Fred was still around and still selling concrete pipe for TXI. Currently, no idea. Perhaps efs4ever might have more updated info on him. Russ, you out there? The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  22. AggieDave, that 411 in Decatur was operated out of the Decatur Airport DZ and was owned by Fred Elsner and I think Bobby Bennett had some intrest in it. After it was sold, rumor has it, that it was shot down in the Nicaraguan civil war while being used as a "bomber". They were actually shoving bombs out the door over enemy positions. 23. My first square jump was on a Flyer modified into a 7 cell. Worked fine.

  25. Was Rouillard's drogueless tandem video during a certification course? If so, I got my Strong rating at that same course conducted by Ted and Bill in 1985 and could be in it. I worked with Jerry at Lavon North DZ for about 3 years doing tandems and demos with him. Damn, those drougeless tandem jumps were insane!!! I had an opening so hard that it cracked two of the passenger's ribs. After that, I elected not to do any more tandems until Ted came out with the drogue system. Ted's primary focus was for his system to be the next revolution in student training but it was just too much of a quick money maker for the DZs to use it for any other purpose than what it's become. Besides, I never thought it was a very workable training method compared to AFF. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
