  1. started at 46 now 48, and glad I did not start in my 20's because I had no respect for my motorcycles or anything at that point in my life. Once you lose respect it will bite you in the butt. Loving my non swooping wuusy ass canopy rides.
  2. ***He doesn't just sell you something and move on to the next customer. Art takes the time to talk to you about your jumping experiences, your dropzone, etc. Ditto on that.. thats because he is a skydiver first and a business man second. From my alti to a complete rig... none other than two thumbs up.
  3. Well said, but I think the good, safe, positive ppl out weigh your scenario of skydivers in general. I have seen the one's you speak about at some real big DZ's and just recently @ the WFFC. I am very content at my DZ and we would and have spoken to the ppl whom you describe. We are self governed and it should remain that way... stay heads up to what is going on and your DZ will be a safer place.
  4. ***9) golf carts at night with 12 year old kids driving is way dangerous None of the 12 yr olds broke their limbs via flipping the golf cart over.
  5. ***I'd love to know where you got TSO'd reserve handles for $25. Yeah me too, I paid $95 for reserve handle..mirage g3
  6. Not even the worst idiot could forget to "cock" a bungeed pilot chute. *** A gross understatement
  7. I have to agree (personal opinion) with flyangel. 100% visibility is esstential therefore I opt for clear glasses or goggles. Thumbs up sister
  8. So spoke a 100-jump wonder... Should any D-license jumpers especially with more than 2000 jumps care to disagree with me I'll be happy to explain to them why they're wrong... *** Easy now sweep, your advice was concise and if it's read from the book,IRM or SIM ppl won't dispute it.
  9. thanks tink, been to Eloy and xkeys and Eloy was quite a bit more busy than xkeys, but thanks for the heads up. Just gives me idea of my surroundings
  10. I am going with a friend of mine to help out with his booth. When I tell ppl about my trip to rantoul they either roll their eyes or say "good luck". Is it that crazy out there??? I will probably work more than jump and to have hundreds of canopys in the air is not something I am comfortable with. What the hell am I up against. And I am told that when you get home that my liver is going to jump out of my body and run down the street yelling "no mas". WTF
  11. SGLI is underwritten by federal guidlines,.. not from state to state therefore under the federal reg's, you are covered. This will change once you get out of the military as each state can dictate their exclusions.
  12. the casa will be here 7/15 thru 7/17. Great party, DJ beer, dogs, burgers and then some. the Caravan will also be up and about. Not sure if beach jumps into the neptunes bar @ the hamptons might happen but it's worth the trip to come out.
  13. Great question.... after some serious thought.. 10 yrs in the sport
  14. Oh The Flare!!! my first 30 jumps where perfect, then the next 60 jumps were 1/2 very good and the other 1/2 ...... very impressive clouds of dust...... I was told that I am fixating on my target. Thanks to ppl who care, I rec'd some video's and yup they were right. So once you think you got your stuff together. eg: ME ... not.. Landings are the most important part of this sport and I have learned the hard way. Listen and learn. Don;t watch other other jumpers and try to imulate them, just watch and observe
  15. I can just see it now.I am going to try to whistle on the plane this weekend. Reminds of the email that said that "no one can lick their elbow" This is too damn funny. If I can do it, I will send you an audio of Mayberry RFD, on the way to altitude
  16. You've got an A licence. Go jump somewhere gear rental isn't so expensive.*** Good point, but here on Long Island one would have to go to xkeys or the Ranch and thats $40 in tolls and gas. WTF??? It's tough when $ gets in the way of your passion.
  17. just hate seeing newbies walking around with brand spanking new gear but flying it like crap. *** why??? I had a choice, I went new. Money was not an issue.I am not as seasoned and proficient as you, maybe i should have waited until my 300th or so. PS: I am buying another new one next year...
  18. you have some valid questions. I would suggest that you hang at the DZ for a couple days and then ask about the thingfs that concern you
  19. ask the jumper getting out after you to look down as you get out and you have to look up with some eye contact then smile with up 2 thumbs up Look around for other ppl in freefall to see what they are doing. Look up again and watch other ppl getting out. Glance at your alti in between this stuff to see how much altitude you lose, then to realize that you have another 30 or 40 seconds to have some more fun. Try it, it keeps your mind busy with important things that will make you a safe skydiver.
  20. purely out of respect for my DZO and Pilot I would not jump an out of date reserve Well said
  21. This was the second time of the weekend for chest-strap saves on the same person. Once in a lifetime (maybe) but twice the same weekend....DOH!!
  22. you have 2 DZ's in close proximinty to you... The Ranch. Gardiner, NY or Crosskeys in Williamstown NJ. both of these DZ's have alot of talented skydivers. You can't go wrong with either one. Good luck, be safe and enjoy.
