  1. Don't waste your time and energy on doing solo jumps. I did and regret it. Get proficient doing two ways. Do 100 jumps doing two ways, then jump into a 4 way. Get good on your belly first. Before anyone flames me, I think that was good conservative advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. ***and not only did he FIND it, it STILL WORKED Laugh Marketing commercial
  3. Quote Sorry for the 1 point question from the 2 jump chump. What happens if you flare too early? Too late? Thanks! Its a skill I will need in the next 10-12 hours, so your quick reply is much appreciated! Too Early: Biff in Too Late: Biff in I have broke doing both
  4. same thing for me, I dipped my shoulder upon deployment and my speed increased very quickly. I would not have believed it . But have it on video. YUP I got slammed.
  5. you can call Mike Gocke at 516-713-1590, he works in Greenpoint )brooklyn) or Mark Kruse @ x-keys
  6. i'm off to practice arching.*** I used to practice on my bed looking at the mirror, just hope I don't end up on america's funniest video's. It helped me big time
  7. I pretty much don't care about lift tickets because it's my choice to skydive. DZO's profit on a fun jumper is approx $2 maybe $3 per jump. Most medium DZ's are not rich. It's a passion for the sport. But as time goes on with increased fuel cost and Insurance, I would guess that it will become a sport for the wealthy. The system is making it difficult, the DZO's are jusy trying to stay ahead. maybe thats why base is so popular???
  8. G3, sabre2 190, 176 reserve, 2 hook knives, aad 24 lbs
  9. Art at the skydive store (http://www.skydivestore.com). His customer service is top-notch! He always had time to answer all my questions and put up with me on week 11 when I would call all the time for updates! Yup.. Art gets it done and he treats everyone with that respect that you would want. Good business man, good people and very good at determining ones needs in equipment. Funny guy and alot of fun to jump with. Keep up the good work Art.
  10. noise of the Otter/Free fall/etc can damage hearing after long term exposure? I am also hearing impaired (can't hear a dytter in freefall) I was told that freefall is approx 120 decibles and at that rate you will experience high frequency loss and speech threashold loss (unable to correctly determine prefixes and a suffix of a word. Wear ear plugs
  11. GWB supporters tend to be the "America is the greatest and can do no wrong" type of fools, so GWB and Rumsfeld will/are getting off scott free for their crimes against humanity. How many people did you lose in that tragedy???? PS: MOVE
  12. I am by no means a seasoned jumper, but I am qualified to say Be Careful Bro just by your description of the jump
  13. ***The absolute easiest way to get it to pack up smaller, better, easier, nicer, flatter, prettier.... give your rig and some of your money to one of us packers. Yup, thats what I have been doing for the past 2 years. The packers would get $7.00 (PD190) I would put a 10 spot in the reserve flap. I didnt care about money then. This year will be different because of financial ruin. So out comes the rig on the living room floor to prepare for the 2006 season. After careful observation I have come to the conclusion that PD has a area 51 that installs a very small person(not visable to the naked eye) with a huge pair of lungs that is programed or instructed to expel huge amounts of air once boby pressure is released from the squashed miserable piece F$%^ing nylon(what ever you want to call it). I can and authorized to offer this advice...... If you do buy the tape "Pack Like A pro" then prepare yourself with a TV brick.Billy Weber packs a rig faster than I can make sandwich or open a beer... WTF.. I am laughing as a write this but it just takes time and fu%^ing patience. Popping a vein ( I have several) really sucks.Oh well gotta go ,.. good f^&%ing luck with that defiant piece of "living cloth" hehe
  14. great place.. take advantage of the water training for your B . It is ( in my view) as close to the real thing than most DZ's offer. Just look out for the big girl with the dark hair.. she's not so friendly
  15. I never thought i was doing what my instructors said I was doing (I am a thick headed german). The video's humbled my german ass. After that, I found it easy to look in the mirror and call myself an "A" hole... Thank you Guy Wright... quote from Guy "one more jump like that last one and I will drive you to the bowling alley"
  16. Since "buddy" has already demonstrated his lack of altitude awareness*** ditto. good question...answer.. don't go there
  17. ***save the experiments for later, much later. It would be interesting to know how close one could determine their altitude just by visuals. I have met a few who don't jump with alti's or dytters and no aad. I am not impressed or intimidated by this but inquisitive as to their reason ( better senses???) I got on a load once & while waiting for all to load, did my checks & noticed my hook knife missing, I got off the load. Oh well, that just me
  18. ***But the real answer is this. Why bother? It takes a few mins to repack it and rest your mind. Ditto
  19. I will sum it up in my own words: Rig..$5000.00 jumpsuit $300 helmut $300 Altimeter $170 jump tickets,etc......... Seeing seasoned jumpers on the ground withOUT their jumpsuits on and a beer in their hand.. PRICELESS. I don't need a book to tell me when it'safe to jump.
  20. *** dont look below you feet behind you: if you do, you are probably pitched too much. Well, you just corrected my problem. Yes in deedy. I owe you a cold one
  21. great post Rob, I was impressed with your info. We as a community should appreciate what ppl do to ensure our well being. hats off to the unsung heroes
  22. It's really somewhat of a rush when you see your alti approach "0" when doing a 23K jump. BRRRRR wtf. or yes in deedy.
