  4. Hi Val, I looked for your freebag to no avail. It will probably turn up just when you buy a new one. Larry
  5. I saw a good here on the forums "because it aint no fun if it's broke"
  6. I mean we're happy to help and teach them but geez, shouldn't there be some interest in helping themselves, too? Great point!!!! Most know the answer but want to get a rise from our forums to argue ppl's answers. The bottom line is that BSR's were not pulled from where the sun don't shine. They were compiled from (pioneers) skydivers. The SIMS was NOT written by a politician.... we wrote it so Therefore READ IT. nuf said
  7. My son and his friends were going and I sort of blew them off, WTF I am 46yrs old until one of his buddy's said " your old man is a pussy" now they call me a crazy bastard
  8. decided from the get go to jump with a hook knife. I did something very stupid but felt very smart when it was there when I despertly needed it.
  9. I just sent a PM, I am there every weekend and I live in Babylon therefore we could hook up at the train station. Larry
  10. Couldn't I just stow the released brake back, and use rear risers in this case? Someone want to chime in on the con's of in-air rigging? Yup, hook knife.. that would be the extent of my rigging in the air
  11. Well its not really that long. Runway 14-32 calverton NY 10,045'
  12. Bi-plane and choopper are going to be here *** Did the Biplane, never done a chooper yet
  13. Landing on the dropzone is overrated. Landing off is an opportunity to sight see and discover new lands Sly Wendy W. *** Very well said!!
  14. what fascinates me though is seeing the fun people are having on videos, the community, and flying birman suits. It is a sport second to none but some people (me included) don't realize how time and effort it takes to become confident & profiecient. I have been an avid bowler all my life & I could go to the bowling alley and practice for 4 hrs. As skydivers we can only practice for 1 minute at a time (freefall). I love the sport and have learned to take it one jump at a time and increase my skills 1/10th per jump, thats good.
  15. prices WILL drop once we get smart and start driving more effiecient cars. Think about why ppl in europe pay $7 per gallon, the petro co's know that they drive those little lawn mowers that get 40 or 50 miles per gallon. We are still driving those huge suv V-8's. The equation is relative & simple.... if we do what the europeans do the petro co's will raise the price. $7/gal at 40 mpg = $3/gal at 20 mpg. We are victims on both sides of the coin. please kiss me
  16. yup shunkka is right, there is a show tonight at 10pm on discovery about a skydiver who got caught on the step of a cessna. Is this a repeat and if so, I must be outa da loop??????
  17. If the guy has 20 min. of freefall he's not likely to be wingsuitin' it yet, just to keep things on the real side of the planet..... Ditto Tbrown... My car (STOCK) goes from 0 to 60 in 5 seconds. Wingsuit says..I have a turbo.... stay with the post bro
  18. *** The reason I posted this is because I have spent almost two and a half decades standing out at the pea pit screaming FLARE Why wont they listen? Object fixation maybe???????????
  19. I am surprised that you are getting MIXED advice. Go with a 170 bro, that will put about 1:1
  20. I just recently found out that insurers (health) are permitted to exclude extreme sports from their plans. I have been out of the Ins biz for about 6 months now and prior 2006 insurers were not allowed to make such exclusions in NY. Anyone like to chime in on this, please
  21. ***solos are not a waste of time... My reply as to solo jumps was to make a point. I should have posted it for all to understand. My reason for this statement was that it is nice to have a reference point (another jumper) to practice foward, backward movement, fall rate etc. I did about 30 solo jumps & learned stability. I will reiterate "waste of time" to "doing two ways on your belly will be a better choice"
  22. The OP is a low-time jumper who has made 5 posts to DZ.com and is asking legitimate questions about the WFFC. The first reply she gets berates her for not spelling Illinois correctly and provides no useful information. Was that really necessary? Ditto Doug, The wffc is a wild and crazy place with numerous canopies in the sky at any given time, and it's an expense. 2005 ran me about $1000.00. I think that packing Cathy might be the one to talk to about rental rigs. As far as spelling Illenoys wrong, get over it ppl. Do a search and see how many spell "licence" wrong. oops I got them both wrong
