  1. FAA never said 1 word about my felonies. And I had several prior to getting my medical and later my private pilot . Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  2. Which incident are you referring to?? Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  3. This seems like too much distraction while piloting a canopy with others in the air.. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  4. Mo secret there. The secret is... well don't want to spoil your surprise. .... when you get your legs or back broken you will understand. Jack Hammer found out the hard way and he,was a strong examiner who insisted everyone do it that way.. fucked him up in the end... Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  5. More skydivers die from canopy collisions with a working AAD than no pulls these days. Jumping without an AAD isnt a death wish although jumping with someone dumb enough to wait on theirs might be. Lots of them out there waiting on their dyter and AAD. Too scared to skydive without an altimeter and a buzzer....?????? Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  6. Throw the drogue like it's on fire. Not only can it half hitch around itself on a lazy throw or right side down throw or back throw it can and will hitch around yourS or you students arms legs and feet. At the end of every day my shoulder is slightly soar from slinging my drogue as far and hard into the realitive wind as possible. Usually new bs have this problem. Complacency or injuries can bring it into play for more seasoned veterians. Just my 2 cents. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  7. I died because the book said......... is that what you want you tombstone to read? Canopy transfer or cutaway are tools. use them when you need them unless it will kill you to use them unless not using them will kill you then use them any way. Hope that clears things up. 8. How many BOD members have been at the bonfire with instructors late at night and put students with TI'S who were less than 8 hours bottle to throttle..... every damn one of them. Half owned the dz and employed them.. times are changing but there used to be trust in skills and judgement of DZOS to run their ownshow. Mm doesn't even run his by USPA bsrs but makes rules for others to abide by. Never flown a plane lit either has he.... hypocrisy abounds. 9. We must all be over looking all the DUI convicted instructors involved in tandem accidents and tandem mishaps. A list of those would assist in illistrating the magnitude of the problem and give support to the medical requirement. If there is no such problem it must be due to the lack of a problem.... 10. I have 9000+ tandems and am a UPT examiner. Last Sunday it took me 10 seconds to get my hand firmly on the Reserve handle during my handle check. I personally Dont want that surprise at pull time or during an emergency. Do you? People are different they arch differently and can be positioned differently in the harness every time you enter freefall. There is no Good reason to NOT do handle checks in freefall after setting the drogue on EVERY TANDEM. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  11. Be happy and move on. Your tandem and your responsibility. It happens more than people admit in the states as far as liying about altitude. You are better off jumping legitimate with upstanding DZ. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  12. The UPT harness works just fine, it is mostly the cooleo instructors who jump with their chest strap too loose that allows the student harness to move about their students shoulders. A properly fitted UPT harness is much more secure and comfortable than a strong for the student during freefall and is much easier to lift ones feet and legs during landing. UPT could beef up the padding in the legs. Strong keeps the student in a forward leaning position and makes it harder to lift their feet properly. I have many rides on front on both systems and hands down I prefer the Sigma. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421

  15. 2004 from a 206 in Iowa. It was really cold and the plane had a roll up door that I was unfamiliar with, I was distracted after exit i found myself hanging right side up under the plane. did i mention I was last out and it was a utility 206 so no help from the pilot. Fortunately the belt release was at the harness and i released it and away we went. Sometime luck matters... Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  16. Failure to Follow Procedureis the leading cause of Tandem Fatalities. The disc and locking pin eliminate some opportunity for out of sequence deployment but do not do away with it completely and following procedure starts well before the jump on the ground and ends on the ground after the jump is complete and the student has safely left the property. 17. There are manufactures rules for camera flyers on tandems. I believe one must be Tandem or AFF qualified to fly video on tandem(minimum 500 jumps). That said this is busted all over the place. I personally think it is appropriate and refuse to jump tandem with a less experienced video flyers. Its about decision making and someone flying camera too soon shows me generally that they are willing to rush and make poor decisions and I do not want that person on my tandem skydive. As to the OP i have no idea about Tandem ratings other than the US. I suppose All are easy enough to pass if you can fly well and read the manual and have the ability to put the welfare of another before your own. 18. Like this one working for DC Skydiving Center in Warrenton Va. http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/flyer.do?personId=49506 Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  19. There are other issues here. A plane crash Their Staff failing piss test then being rehired (everyone except the Pilot failed). Operating un airworthy aircraft in-spite of complete knowledge of the mechanical failures.. Just to name a few issues.. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  20. Fuck the tunnel go skydive. AFF is scary but very rewarding. If skydiving is exciting to you don't waste your limited funds in a wind tunnel unless you are directed so by your instructor after ground school or after your initial AFF jumps. Tunnels are great for honing flying skills and have great value toward fixing free fall issues but you wont know what they are if any until you go for it. Wind tunnels ain't free fall. Choose your dz ask about their student safety and history . AFF instruction is very safe and the instructors are there to help you have a successful skydive under any circumstances. Just my 2 cents. 21. I have seen more and more students doing this and it is directly related to forums and social media forums like facebook where they can spread the word on how to do flips as well as the few DZ's out there that continue to allow their TI's to do flips and shit. If a student now ask about flips I share the part in the manual that says I can knock them the fuck out if they are endangering my life and I have not had any issues since. Once we took 2 guys in a large group who did this very thing and admitted they were trying to flip after being told not to. I sent the rest of his group home for the day and rescheduled them for a later date and explained that the intentional unsafe acts of their friends placed our staff in danger and might cause them to loose their tandem fee's. When they returned they all enjoyed their jumps without incident and expressed their understanding of the situation. You should have no issues informing your customers their boundaries and when they are crossed enforcing the rules. As Bill says this is not a carnival ride and their actions can drastically effect the outcome of their skydive. You better believe if you allow it or ignore it will increase. Just my take I would Love to Hear From Tom Noonan and other examiners concerning this as I am sure it will increase like go pro request. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  22. I say Fing go for it. 170 jumps into a place as big as their DZ. Some times you just got to have a little fun and take that chance. There was a time when USPA had nothing to do with Demo's or personal jumps into back yards and open fields.. Shit i had 50 jumps for my first party jump and made the local magazine... BANDIT JUMP BANDIT JUMP BANDIT JUMP Hell yeah... Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  23. It is a Tension knot you might look at the cascade on the brake for damage or something protruding but you probably wont find anything. The second inboard brake line is not fully extended and the outboard C line looks to be thru the brake-line cascade and wrapped around a couple more D and C lines on the other side. Flake that tail and clear your brake lines. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  24. Sorry to inform you there is a woman in Brazil who has jumped since her 100th BD and this year jumped at age 103. here is the artical on Paulo Silva's Facebook page from last year. http://www.fozdoiguacudestinodomundo.com.br/es/node/1200?page=3 Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  25. tk I cant say the but landings are whats wearing me out. I think moving around in the plane with someone snugly attached at 4 points and flaring the big boys are the real culprits. I noticed a huge difference in my recovery from day to day when I went from mostly stand up landings to butt landings. I was not as sore each morning and my knee's and lower back felt much much better on a consistent basis with the butt landings. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
