  1. I've known 2 skydivers who's shoulders dislocated in freefall. Both took time and PT before returning to sk6d8ve again. Both had subsequent locations within weeks of returning and eventually both stopped skydiving due to this problem. One with a broken ankle because he could not fly his canopy with both hands..

Tunnel to AFF training BSR change

We had 2 tunnel wufoos this week. Both from s as me tunnel and trained by skydivers. Both did well in freefall to a point then both put their feet on their ass and arched excessively at pull time both Put their feet on their ass and rolled their right shoulder at deployment despite extensive ground training to counter. Both also chucked an instructor mid skydive by arching extremely hard and extending the instructors armed suddenly. Weird exact 2 jumps 4 different instructors. My point is had these been one instructor jumps the students both most likely would have been alone and on their back while deploying.. student safety is first priority and evaluating them with 2 instructors seems prudent..

    Top 5 Tandem Scams

Here are the Big offenders owned by Luther Kurtz. They all sell weather insurance priority booking $50 and $100, slots never go to full altitude. I used to work for him. My job ended over a pilot flying an un airworthy airplane and hiding it from me with Luthers knowledge and approval. His ethics are less than moral for someone who is a Lawyer and holds public office. Or maybe just perfect. Does this sound right?

Confused students can go a hell of a long way with a radio. It happens all the time... the essential part is Instructors and coached present and watching the canopy ops to make certain they know the location of every student especially when there is an equipment failure.
  10. 4000 feet is good skydiving altitude. Get a bowling ball

What are you making or paying per Tandem

TI needs to set the harness up for success. The pressure on the femoral artery will definitely put big students to sleep. If you can get them to sit in the harness after opening rather than hanging it makes a huge difference. I take them all sizes and have for a long time. No complaints on weight fees lately. Most are really glad they can skydive. In the past I had a large nurse who I refused threaten to sue me... I just laughed at her and sent her on her way...

    60" drogue

I have jumped 60" drogues for years on both my micro's. 1) slower freefall 2) slower openings (dont be tooo quick on that cutaway handle) 3) Simon Wade makes some that will last fooooooreeeeeeeeveeeeeer 4) Less wear and tear on your Main canopy 5) Once you figure out the folding it fits in the pouch just fine. 6) You will need to replace your BOC pouch sooner but not much if it is packed nice and tightly and not stretched out. 7) Chubby Videots will need wings to stay with you 8) Maintain them and they will treat you very well. I have 3000+tandems on Simon's 60" drogues and 500 on UPT 60" drogues. The UPT oscillated like crazy and would spin up but not Simons.. Call Simon Wade 702-277-5273 you wont regret it.. I love them...

    Sigma 340 slider

I like the older ones. Openings are great. also the same slider as on the 370 so cheap to just keep one for my rigs. Lines need to be and should be replace before the slider does enough damage to amount to anything.. sliders should be replace about as often in my opinion..

    Another Student Harness Post (pic)

Mr. Cooleo there is clueless. I bet he pulls the main lift webs down as far as he can before exit and the chest strap becomes chest high and she becomes a squatting skydiver.. other wise this looks very dangerous....

    What are your wind limits?

Above 10kts I will sit down if there are gust of more than 7kts. I will jump in 20kts if it is clean and steady and I have some weight.. No 95 pounders.. Over the years I have jumped in much higher winds and gust and pressured TI's to do the same. Now that Im older and wiser (yeah right) I leave it to the group to decide. If one sits down Ill sit down with them. Sometimes I forget just how comfortable I am doing tandems and need a green horn to remind me this shit is dangerous. We set a 7 kt threshold for gust and have the S&TA check it with a wind meter. if gust are over 7kts everyone sits down. Having seen a tandem pair drug a half mile down a runway and both needing medical attention and seeing another TI break his back in 7 to 12 kt gust it just isn't worth it to jump in higher wind conditions. Set 400 and 366 are shit for unstable air Sigma 2 340's are my favorite. 9000+ tandems on Vector2's Sigma's and Strong's.

    composite parafoil

the reduced jump numbers and prohibitive cost are more than enough to keep the fabric from finding a place in the sport of skydiving....... no advantage cost or performance wise???? what are you looking for here?????

    Sigma new 340 main ?

Hi Richard, I had the opportunity to make several jumps on the 340 when I went through my TE course last year. Damn nice Canopy. I jumped it in the Micro Sigma and fell in love with it. I put 420 LBS under it not including the rig (not sure what the Micro weighs) and stood up the landing with little wind. Toggle pressure was minimal and response was wonderful. I recommend the Sigma 340 Highly . you wont be disappointed. I fly the Aerodyne A2 #50 and Love it as Well. It is not as High performance as the 340. I fly it aggressive an it does every thing I want or need from a solid all around tandem canopy. Price is why I have it in both of my rigs. You cant go wrong with either. I would recommend setting a minimal Tandem number for the 340 because of its quick solid response and overall elliptical feel. Hope this helps JM2C Chris Whitley
