FAA Endorses Skydiving Insurance Requirment
NightJumper replied to base363's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sorry, all ours took was a telephone conference with the Ft. Lauderdale FSDO and the county. You might also get a lawyer and ask about the civil options in your state for restraint of trade by requiring something that is not available. -
Tandem to overcome fear before getting back into aff?
NightJumper replied to Daizey's topic in Safety and Training
I can't speak for why management at that DZ made that decision nor would I. Just remember that is not the only drop zone. Stay focused on the goal, not the problem. But my offer still stands! Stay safe, Mike -
Tandem to overcome fear before getting back into aff?
NightJumper replied to Daizey's topic in Safety and Training
This makes no sense to me. If it builds her comfort level, who cares. And maybe skydiving on her own is not for her but she might enjoy doing tandems, if so, great! I train tandem instructors and test jump tandem equipment and I still love doing tandems front or back. It is like doing a two-way all the way down. When I was at the Mardi Gras boogie they had a wedding jump that one of the skydivers wanted to go on, but she had twisted her ankle the week before and still did not feel comfortable jumping on her own and so she asked me if I would take her on a tandem, which I did. She had never done a tandem and came down so excited that you would have thought it was her first jump. So go tell her to do a tandem and have fun. And if no one else will take her, come down to Florida and I will! Stay safe, Mike -
FAA Endorses Skydiving Insurance Requirment

That is strange because we got just the opisite ruling. How can they impose a restriction that can not be met? And that would not be "consistant" since it is not available. -
I will send you a PM just as soon as I finish skining this bear.

Just for you, sure! Seriously, I will talk to the webmaster tomorrow and see what I can do. Stay safe, Mike

Yes, what Rob is referring to is a couple of items that we are working on specifically to make packing more rigger friendly. As for the two-pin system, it is hear to stay (at least for now) for reasons that we believe it should. We have always had a TSO for a one-pin system but we have found our present system works better for us. Heck there are a lot of three-pin pilot rigs out there. As to the "perfect" rig, don't hold your breath since I don't think there will ever be such a thing (at least anytime soon). And who decides what the perfect rig is? The reason is choice and all of the different types of disciplines that require different type of systems. The same reason why there is not a perfect car, boat or plane. I would say that the industry has arrived at the point that okay rigs our no longer competitive in the market place. As for pack volumes, again it is the manufactures trying to keep up with user demands for smaller rigs. I have even heard one manufacture talk about vacuum packing to squeeze out a few more cubic inches! It makes me wonder sometimes.

Next time call me. I can have it complete in two weeks. In fact, the last tandem was done in 10 days. Stay safe, Mike
-
Paul, just quickly pick one so that she will think that you are smart, artistic and sophisticated.
-
The simple solution is call the manufacture. I can tell you that all of our containers including tandems are cut 7" from the eye on both sides with or without an RSL.

Pic one is my search & rescue dog Cara searching what is left of building four WTC on September 12, 2001. Pic. two is of Cara and Sigourney Weaver during a break at 4:00am at the make shift food service area on Lbierty Street across from 4WTC. Sigourney was helping serve food to the rescue workers. Pic. three is of Cara talking a nap after another 12 hour shift of searching. -
