  3. That is COMPLETELY uncalled for. If it isn't a personal attack I couldn't imagine what was. Ooroo Mark F...
  4. Ten to nine on that if you went to the Flying Swan in the Brentford Triangle you'd find a mob of shapeless grey things - auditors - arguing with a mob in suites carrying briefcases. Just belt the whole lot of 'em around the ear'ole with a stout stick and I reckon normal programming will be restored - whatever THAT may be.

Well I don't get that far with only 10 watts from a ancient FT-301S...

  9. There is a whacking great mob of viruses (viruses for non-organic, virii for organic)around the place at the moment that'll do that. Give the machine the once over with an up to date virus scanner with current signatures. If you have trouble running it that'll make virus infection a sure bet. Do a google search for "about:blank" +windows and you'll be able to learn more than you'd ever need... Ooroo Mark F...
  10. Vacuum pot, no question. Its output. If it produces crappy tasting coffee it's crap. If it looks like a POS and produces great tasting coffee then it's great...
  11. This is not even a little bit good - from any viewpoint. Well nearly all over the world - Australia and New Zealand are the only two scrapie free countries there are...

  13. I've got a permanent disability that in the grand scheme of things is trivial - Polio affected right leg which has resulted in a rooted lower back and arthritic lumbar and hip joints from a 5cm leg length difference, a 70% strength difference and very uneven gait. What can ya do but suck it up and get on with life. Whenever I get frustrated and down about not being able to do something I remember the Arlo Guthrie line "What about the last guy". The context was that there is always someone worse off. Just be thankfull that you're not allergic to beer. Well not decent beer anyway...
  14. A mate of mine went through almost exactly the same scenario a number of years ago. He got the lawyers involved and you can imagine the quality and quantity of the ensuing shit fight. Not even a little tiny bit pleasant... Suicide attempts, drunken rages, etc. from both sides of the argument. Not fun. Two weeks ago I was talking to one of the children, no longer a child, and he now has only contempt for BOTH parents. Why ? At NO time were the children asked what they wanted. I think to not ask the kids is a HUGE mistake - please don't make it...
  15. No bet. Like everyone else in the work force those people are doing their jobs to the best of their abilities, as far as we can tell, and at the very LEAST their employers should be able to pay 'em the right amount on time. Most people are able to tell their employer to fuck off if they mess 'em around like this. These people just can't do that... Ooroo Mark F...
  16. Well he, GWB, came to Canberra and heaped insult upon insult. The Australian people were denied access to OUR parliament house. School children from the other side of the country had their visit to parliament cancelled and were told to re-schedule it. There were guns taken into a joint sitting of parliament at the insistance of the US heirarchy. (Never before have there been weapons allowed into the house.) The worst was reserved for when he delivered his speech. He treated the whole house with utter contempt. He failed to display even the slightest knowledge of the protocols that ALL visitors (all unelected people in the house are visitors - Hansard reporters, etc) must conform to. He even went so far as to fail to address his speech to the speaker of the chamber. Contrast that with the Chinese delegation. They had security concerns but they managed them without causing undue inconvenience or taking weapons into the house. The parliament building was open for public access. Not only did school groups attend but they were given a chance to talk to the Chinese delegation. The most telling thing was that the Chinese had very much done their homework. They knew the protocols and followed along. To my mind the US delegation seemed very insular whilst the Chinese delegation was open and accessible. The US people seemed hostile and annoyed that they had to be here while the Chinese people came to talk and listen and enjoy themselves. It'll be interesting to see how his visit to London pans out. add in children

As others have mentioned - are you absolutely sure it's ADD ? I ask because my nephew was a REAL horror at that age and for a few years before and after that as well. He was sort of like a SEVERE case of ADD and an equally severe case of Tourettes. In short a right little horror - the only person I know of to be expelled from a child care centre. The solution. Cutting down on tomatos (and other nightshade family veges) and red meat made some difference but the REAL differences were made when they got to excluding artificial food colouring and over sweetened stuff (breakfast foods like NutriGrain and CocoaPops and WheatBix). These days he's a quite normal 17 year old - well as normal as a 17 year old male can be anyway...

    Firestorm 2003

From what I'm hearing here it sounds like Ash Wednesday 1983 or Canberra last year. Well maybe not as bad as Ash Wednesday - at least I fervently hope so. No-one needs that shit. Let's just hope that the weather and everything else is on the side of the CFA ( Country Fire Auth. or whatever they're called there ) and they can get it under some sort of control pretty soon. Sounds like a huge job and being an active CFA volly I'm damn sure I'd rather not be mixed up in it. I _do_ have an ulterior motive for wishing them all speed though. We'll need the Aircranes for our fire season which has all the indications of being another right bastard. Ooroo Mark F...
  21. Give up now. There's no way that youth and talent can go close to competing with age and rat cunning.
  22. I figured it was pretty serious when it made what's widely considered to be the heaviest current affairs program going. ( PM on the ABC in Melbourne.
  23. I get to use a 2003 Prius. As a straight out car it's a POS - way too many perfect compromises[1]. Assembly is not up to the usual Japanese standards either - a few annoying rattles and bits of the interior that don't quite fit. Around the city it's a very good option. Where speed is low with a decent percentage of time spent at a standstill is where it really shines. Compared to a Range Rover the fuel bill is negligable - around 1/8...
