  2. I did 47 out of a Cessna 150 one day in Leadville Co. It was 120 degrees on the ground. All went to 12,500 AGL, with video. (All stand-up landings) We had to carry 4 O2 bottles (one for everybody) as the air was getting a little thin. Of couse we had to hot fuel all day. Went thru 94 RATO bottles also. Was I glad when 5 o'clock came and we finally finished. He who hesitates shall inherit the earth. Deadwood Skydive New Mexico Motorcycle Club, Touring Division

I guess I'm the old man in the group. I turned 53 in January this year. Only made 10 base jumps last year. I'm also still doing tandems, wingsuits and speed jumps. But it is getting harder. He who hesitates shall inherit the earth. Deadwood Skydive New Mexico Motorcycle Club, Touring Division
  6. You probably won't like this solution but it works for me. I bought a trailer for my bike. (Valkyrie Interstate) I take three tandem rigs, my personal rig, all the doodads and a cooler. 9. Woke up to this in the Albuquerque Newspaper this morning. I wonder what this is going to cost him. And its not a suspension bridge. http://www.abqjournal.com/north/317057north_news03-07-05.htm Monday, March 7, 2005 Colo. Man Injured in Parachute Jump By Laura Banish Journal Staff Writer A 21-year-old man suffered serious leg injuries after his parachute opened late after jumping off the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge— one of the highest suspension bridges in the federal highway system— early Sunday morning, according to New Mexico State Police. Robert Walking of Crested Butte, Colo., was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe where his injuries were "less than life-threatening," Lt. Jimmy Glascock said. Walking jumped off the bridge, situated more than 650 feet above the Rio Grande, around 6:30 a.m., police said. He may have been participating in a sport called BASE jumping, which involves launching from fixed points while wearing a parachute. BASE stands for building, antennae, span and earth. It took several hours to locate the young man. Search and rescue teams were dispatched, although a New Mexico National Guard helicopter was ultimately used to pull the man from the bottom of the gorge, Glascock said. Later Sunday, St. Vincent spokesman Don Butterfield confirmed Walking was still a patient at the hospital but said he could not provide information about his condition because of federal privacy laws. Several family members were present at the time of the incident, Glascock said. The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is located about 10 miles west of Taos on U.S. 64. 12. My opinion: The reserve free bag system used in skydiving, along with a container that properly stages the deployment, is probably more forgiving of an unstable deployment than a typical base rig. 19. Only experience I have is with the Delta II Parawing (or as we affectionately called it, the Dildo II Paranoid) Have about 200 jumps on one. It was built in the late 60s by Steve Snyder and was an outgrowth of the single keel rogalo wings. I still jump mine once a year at our annual water boogie. Just jumped it last weekend. (and dead centered on the float) Opens hard (when it opens) and looks very small up there. Turns are fast as most modern ram airs but forward speed is only about 15 MPH. Mine is modified without the internal brakes so the toggles just go to the outside trailing edge, meaning you really have no brakes. The Thunderbow is more like a triangle parachute than a wing. It has no keel. Was pretty reliable and docile He who hesitates shall inherit the earth. Deadwood Skydive New Mexico Motorcycle Club, Touring Division
  20. Does anybody have any hard data of jumpers who have been fatality injured by a hard opening? Dates, canopy types and info from autopsy reports would be helpful. Thanks He who hesitates shall inherit the earth. Deadwood Skydive New Mexico Motorcycle Club, Touring Division
  21. Here is what I did with a Garmin Belt mount, an 0-ring, some hand tacking cord and a Consew 206. I usually jump a 182. Sit in the back, and at about 7K (on a 10K jump), turn it on and just hold it up to the rear window. After everyone leaves, wait a while, move to the door and jump. Keeps a signal all the way down. It has also worked in Otters and Skyvans by just holding it near a window on the climb. He who hesitates shall inherit the earth. Deadwood Skydive New Mexico Motorcycle Club, Touring Division
  22. I kind of like the way Strong demonstrated the packing of their tandem drogue. The drogue gets folded similar to a PC, but with the bridle left out. Then the bridle is stuffed into the BOC pouch, followed by the drogue. This way, when you throw the drogue, it doesn't have to unfold to release the bridle and it stays folded up until its well clear of the burble. When you toss it, you are not pulling the bridle out from inside the drogue, its just pulling out of the pouch. I've seen some videos of the drogue being deployed when packed in this manner and it seems real clean. With a tandem, similar to a WS jump. you want a good strong launch of the PC (drogue) to get it out of the burble. But hey, what do I know? He who hesitates shall inherit the earth.
