  1. I've been using the Vista for about a year now and really like it. The pressure altimeter is nice for checking out the track profile and computing glide ratio and such. I've been using a wrist mount with good success. I haven't tried all the software but of the ones I have tried the OziExplorer is the best.. and free. Use it alot on my mountain bike also. 3. My GPS max is 120 MPH with light winds. Its typically 90-110 MPH. I'm sure others can do better He who hesitates shall inherit the earth. Deadwood Skydive New Mexico Motorcycle Club, Touring Division
  4. The way a Racer closes subjects the loop to much less abuse (IMHO). They usually still look pretty good after a few pack jobs. He who hesitates shall inherit the earth. Deadwood Skydive New Mexico Motorcycle Club, Touring Division
  5. I made a bag with a free stow pouch. Closes just like a reserve free bag except I use rubberbands for the locking stows. I have about 300 jumps on it with no problems. At PIA this year Sunpath showed a main bag they were working on with absolutely no stows. All done with tuck flaps. That may be my next project. He who hesitates shall inherit the earth. 6. Every time on a "normal rig" Much less often on a Racer. (I assume you are talking about a Cypres loop) My theory is the most amount of abuse a loop gets is during the closing process. A used loop that looks OK usually doesn't when you done closing the rig. He who hesitates shall inherit the earth. Deadwood Skydive New Mexico Motorcycle Club, Touring Division
  7. So is mine, got one jump on it and its pretty cool
  8. I was only trying to emphaize to this guy that he should not expect to be able to run to reference material and look up the answer to every question. You say "The correct answer to any question - that you are not sure of - is "excuse me while I go look that up." Thats fine for exploratory type questions, but if the question, as part of the oral exam is for example, "What are the privileges of a senior rigger?", the answer should not be "I don't know but I'll look it up." Say that more than 25% of the time in any subject area of the oral and your busted. The oral is a bit harder than the written because you are not give multiple choice answers, where you have the ability to say to yourself, "I've seen that answer before and I remember its the correct one. " In the oral you must be able to spit it out with no help. It quite a different thing if all you've done in prep is memorized what the correct answer looks like, as is so often done. 9. And speaking of bad ideas, my friend Mike didn't like the "reliability" of the part of the OSI that had the velcro OSI closure strap pulled off by the nose inflation. He attached the velcro strap to a separate line that went down to his main riser. After the canopy "opened" he would pull the strap and release the OSI to complete the opening sequence. Alas, this didn't work very well either. I still jump my Delta II Parawing (AKA Dildo II Paranoid) once a year. I just don't use the OSI and do a "pop and hop". Its a very interesting canopy. 10. However, If the DPRE asks you a question as part of the oral exam, you may not use any reference materials. He who hesitates shall inherit the earth. Deadwood Skydive New Mexico Motorcycle Club, Touring Division
