  3. I have the same mouse as you, and I love it too. I always end up trying to use the thumb buttons on my mouse at work. MS is coming out with a newer version of that mouse, the roller wheel will now rotate left and right as well like a joy stick. Don't know how useful it will be, but maybe I can re-assign them to something I use a lot. This MS mouse has really stood some abuse. I've only had one problem during the 2-3 years I've had it. The wires inside (the mouse cord) broke inside the cable right at the connection point inside the mouse. So I took the mouse apart, resoldered the connections (hardwired, had to cut the connector off), and now it has worked perfectly since. http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/features/tiltwheel.mspx
  4. http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/internet/11/07/web.surfing.ap/index.html If your boss or other administrators at work give you any crap about spending all your time at dropzone.com, you can set them straight. My company has a fair internet policy that allows personal surfing in moderation as long as it does not interfere with any work. Let's just say I use that policy to its fullest.
  5. I've stated my thoughts in the following thread (which pretty much discussed exactly the same thing your trying to get at: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=729610 However, I will just add that I think Jessica Lynch showed some common sense and class when she said to the public that the military overplayed and over dramatized her rescue. She admitted that she didn't fire a single shot, and that there was nothing heroic about her actions.

    Who pays

Ideally, the manufacturer should pay. However, in the real world, it is a generally accepted practice that the consumer pays shipping to return to manufacturer, and manufacturer pays shipping when returning a new or fixed product back to the customer. Sometimes, I don't even think it's worth the bother to hassle with the manufacturer over shipping. Get a USPS (postal service) priority box, neatly fold and stuff the jumpsuit in there, and send it off. 5$ out of pocket.
  7. Your going to need a video capture card with appropriate software. Just make sure the capture card has inputs that match the type of outputs you have (from whatever your going to output the video from, VCR etc). Some newer technologies might have digital outputs, in which case, it might be a helluva easier sending it to a computer. But since its on VHS, I doubt it. Then you can either use the software that comes with the capture card or something like Adobe Premiere to edit, compress, and encode it to a popular format. http://www.arstechnica.com/guide/audio-visual/videocapturing/vidcap-1.html
  8. Launched in 1977, they say the power generators on that thing will last til the year 2020... cwaaazzy..
  9. I am trying to locate Jim Cazer's email address. His telephone and physical address's are available, but that's not what I need. His AOL email address has not worked for some time now. If you know his current email address, please PM it to me. Not sure if he would appreciate his email address getting spammed since these forums are being used to harvest email addresses, so send it privately or make the address not searchable by computers. Thanks.
  10. We'll.. according to their calendar.. the "US 8-Way Team. CRW Camp Beginner & Intermediate" will be held Dec 12-14th. http://www.floridaskydiving.com/new/schedule.htm I wouldn't mind attending, but I just don't think my schedule would allow it.
  11. Exactly what it sounds like. You 'hop' out of the plane facing the relative wind (into the direction of flight), make sure you are stable, a'n'd deploy your chute: 'pop'... http://www.flyinggnu.dk/Stillsgalleri/11/images/hopnpop_jpg.jpg
  12. Here are atleast two threads that deal with incredibly small Cobalts [pictures are within the threads]: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=470628 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=318459 edited to add: Here is one more thread about this exact same topic. Another picture of the Cobalt 25 in that thread. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=254218
  13. What kinda dog is that? Kinda looks like my dog, Nestle. Also posted some shots of my roommates dog, Max.
  14. That is freaking hilarious.. I am trying to contain my laughter so I don't fall out of my chair at work...
  15. I voted yes for several reasons. The Republicans are not going to front another candidate when they already have one that is fairly popular. I hate every stinking Democrate candidate and the general philosophy and ideals of the Democratic party. I am somewhere between a Republican and a Libertarian. Would I vote for the Libertarian candidate? No.. because that is a wasted vote. Not only is it wasted because the Libertarian stands no chance of winning, but because it takes the votes away from a Republican that does stand a very good chance of winning. But am I even going to vote in the first place? Probably not.. but that's for another thread and time..
  16. I have one because I do CRW. When you land so far off you have to describe the area around you (because you've never been there before)... then you need a good cellphone.. I have a Nextel phone.. a fairly old one.. i don't think they even make it anymore.. batteries dont even last 36 hours.. BUT... I only pay 10$ a month for a fully loaded service plan.. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a new provider and phone.. but I dont want to spend 200$ (because I won't be able to settle on one of those 'free' phones) on a phone and 50$/mnth + tax...
  17. One of my roommates is a recent grad from T-A&M, and brought a nice kegorator to the house we live in. It's pretty much the beer fridge. There is a keg in there with bottles of beer surrounding it. It saves a lot of space in our regular kitchen fridge.
  18. Urine.. Urine has really good anti-fog properties.. soo .. just piss all over the mirror and whatever else you have that you don't want fogging up. Haha. sorry.. actually.. a lot of things like that will work wonders to keep things antifog. Dishwashing liquid (like Dawn) work great too. I used that stuff all the time when i used to play paintball.. every time before I left.. I would put a few drops of dawn on the inside of my face mask and polish it until it was clear.. worked great to clean the mask too..

    Free Cat

Only because it's a cat.. If that were a dog, everyone here would be up in arms (including me) looking to kill that low life scum that would dare put up a sign like that and take a picture.. We love our doggies..
  20. Use the thickest thread the fabric and machine can handle! I doubt you can over build pants or a suit.. I just made some pants for myself.. I used nylon "upholstery" thread.. It was the thickest I could get at a neighborhood fabric and sewing store..

Oh no! Where is Ivan and the re-post police? Citizen's arrest! http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=670419 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=666022

  23. http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/NaturalHazards/Archive/Oct2003/California.TMOA2003299_lrg.jpg Looks like Mexico is on fire too..
  24. How does the pilot chute pull the pin then? The whole point of the tab on the Lightning bridle is to snag the pin and open the container. If there is no tab, then how does the pin get extracted? The way I'm picturing it, all that will happen is that the bridle will slide through the pin hole without pulling it. I suppose there might be enough 'snatch' force on the bridle but I'm not sure I want to count on that every time. I've never seen a Triathlon, so I would just like some clarification... Obviously you should follow manufacturer recommendations when assembling your canopy, but maybe a knot behind the pin could act as a stopping block. but that might cause more problems like the hanging up on the rings or something.
  25. I agree with everything you said. However, I think the basis of this thread was that she is getting unfair attention, regardless that it is undue attention. The first argument that was raised in this thread was.. how come Spc. Shoshana Johnson didn't get a book deal? Was Lynch somehow more special? More heroic? Not really.. Lynch was probably blacked out 90% of the time after sustaining injuries from her vehicle crash. She couldn't fight, she probably couldn't even move. She had back, leg, and chest injuries.. If she managed to pull out an M-16.. sling two wounded comrades over her shoulder, and fight off a battalion of Iraqis, then yes.. she would have been a hero... but she didn't do anything. She just survived. If she died, tragic as it may be, she would have never received a bit more attention than any other soldier killed in combat. Spc. Shoshana Johnson was pretty much identical to Lynch. Neither were front line soldiers, they were about the same rank (if not the same rank).. neither really deserve to be called heros... so why did Lynch get the special treatment? Because she was more 'presentable'... it's easier to package an alleged 'cute' (I think most people here will agree that Jessica Lynch is not "cute").. white middle america woman that overcame all odds, fought these savages, and lived. I think the media went overboard on the story as soon as it hit the press wires. It was on every front page story, and the journalists were drooling at the opportunity to make the wildest claims and make the story as dramatic as possible. I don't think the US military wanted to play down what really happened after that. It was good press. Forget the rest of the company that was KILLED... we had a survivor... and that's entirely what the press focused on. Why would the gov't want to step in and say.. 'she wasn't a hero.. she wasn't wounded in hostile fire.. our special forces rescue team did not encounter any resistance'... Anyways... I'm done ranting too..
