  1. I'll definitely check out other albums by the more popular artists, but I'm also searching for the smaller bands that didn't make it on the radio too much or at all. I'm bit of a junkie for music and like discovering new to me music. I just don't have a direction to start from within the classic rock genre. I am liking most of the bands posted so far, so thanks so much for posting them everyone! You all must of had a great time growing up with that music. Too bad for me, the music I like started sucking in the early 90s. So most newer bands don't appeal to me. This is why I'm looking to the past. I do appreciate good guitar work being I did a 7 year gig building custom guitars and got to hear some real talent when artist played at the shop I worked at (some famous and some really talented local L.A. Joes). The classic rock really rips that shit up guitar wise, too bad I only got interested in it now. Anyway, keep the bands coming! Can't wait to pick up some new vinyl!
  2. I don't know much about classic rock except what's on the radio. What are some good classic rock bands that weren't so well known that are good and not really on the radio? All I listen to is old metal, punk, and thrash bands. My ears are tired and I need some new music. Perhaps a new feel good genre to explore. Thanks old salts!

    Biggest Fears

I drowned in a pool as a kid. I was dead. Fortunately I was pulled from the water and revived just in time. Take my world for it, drowning is anything but peaceful. Try freezing to death instead. I'm sure it is rather violent and anything but peaceful, I expect that. Most of us will suffer in our last moments and I can respect and accept that as part of the process. The peacefulness is the most comfortable place I've ever been, which is floating around in a calm sea watching the stars by myself. That's the last thing I'd like to see and experience. I'll let the sea take me away when it's my time, if I get that chance. Thanks for sharing your experience.

    Biggest Fears

I fear Ill wait too long when I'm old and grey and not be stong enough to paddle my kayak out to sea under a blanket of stars (the Milky Way) to enjoy one last beer before I abandon my kayak, swim away and tread water until I can't anymore. I fear loved ones watching me slowly die in a hospital bed. I'd rather be alone and somewhat healthy in my last moments. Seems peaceful.

    San Francisco

Some food joints I can recommend: Q's Restaurant http://www.qrestaurant.com/ Great tasty recipes, love that place. Eric's Restaurant http://www.yelp.com/biz/erics-restaurant-san-francisco Good Chinese in Noe Valley. Bunch of shopping on 24th St. (between Castro and Dolores), right down the street from Eric's. Lisa's Mexican Resturant http://www.yelp.com/biz/lisas-mexican-restaurant-daly-city-2 Mom and pop shop, good friendly service. It's about a 10 minute drive from SF via the streets. The enchiladas or chimichangas plates are great, so are their nacho appetizer plate. Not fancy, but decorative and cozy that usually has a harp player playing while you eat. Ghirardellis http://www.ghirardelli.com/locations-events/ghirardelli-locations/northpoint-caffe-san-francisco-ca Located in the Fishermans Wharf. Good ice cream sundays. If you're hanging around Pier 39 or the Wharf area and can enjoy some sweets, have a go with them. Woodhouse Fish Co. http://www.woodhousefish.com/WFC%20Market%20Menu%202010.pdf Good seafood if you find yourself downtown on Market St. Drinks: Anchor Brewery http://www.anchorbrewing.com/ Local Brewery. No food, but they have an awesome tour about its history and you'll walk away with a buzz. Call way ahead for reservations! Speakeasy Ales and Lagers http://www.yelp.com/biz/speakeasy-ales-and-lagers-san-francisco Local brewery. No food, $3 beers! Music and bands. Hemlock Tavern http://hemlocktavern.com/prog_guide.php The only bar I go to because of the music, rock, punk, indie. Bands playing, vinyl spinning. Not a shithole either. The crowd 20s-40s. Outdoors: Some others posted some good ones for hiking outside SF. If you want to see the redwoods without a big commute, there's Muir Woods http://www.nps.gov/muwo/index.htm. Half hour or so north of the city. A bit touristy, but pretty as the redwoods get. You can drive around the Marin Headlands for some good views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the city too while in the area. Stintson Beach is right around the corner, you can watch the paragliders and hand gliders launch off of Mt. Tam and land on the beach. Lands End http://parksconservancy.org/visit/park-sites/lands-end.html Located in the northwest part of town by Ocean Beach. There's a nice coastal trail there, you can detour from the trail to Miles Beach for a nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Not too many tourists hike the trail and it feels like you're not even in a city for a moment. Really peaceful. Movie night Dolores Park http://www.doloresparkworks.org/2012/05/film-night-2012-ready-bring-movies-dolores/ They're playing 16 Candles (if youre into that movie) Aug. 4th. Free, nice view of downtown from the park. Bring some beers. Nice park to visit anytime and people watch. Enjoy your stay!
  7. Sucks to hear you won't be posting as much. You've always gave genuine thought to helping the younger jumpers on here, one of the few posters I respect when giving out advise on here. Thanks for your time spent posting. I hope you find what you're looking for in your travels and the fishes you seek. The best to you dude! Shawn.
  8. Instead of trying to continue your argument about skyhooks (I think the thing you kept harping on with your instructors) by trying to use what Mr. Booth wrote you as a way to validate your argument and continued apology online, go to your dropzone and apologize in person. You want to jump and make adult decisions up in the skies, get some moxy and make an adult decision on the ground, confront your problem face to face. What's the worst that can happen?, they tell you to fuck off? You might not gain their respect still, but you can walk away like a man with some self respect. It takes a man or women to admit to another they fucked up. Or maybe they'll see you can be an adult and make adult decisions and give you another chance. Apologizing online is kind of immature. Beating shit around the bush is obviously getting you nothing. No disrespect intended. Good luck!
  9. Cool sunsets people! The nice ones really simplify life for a moment. Heres some of mine.
  10. .....when the smell of your own farts makes you want to go on a plane ride and blame it on someone else.
  11. The ergonomics of the chair, the location of the seat, prevents it from tipping backwards. It's a pretty sound chair strength wise too. I had a 230 lbs friend plop on it numerous times and told him to try and break it to no avail. It's made out of bamboo, which has a tensile strength as strong as or stronger than steel. Thanks for the response wmw999.
  12. Thanks for the replies! I may just make/offer a high back version too. Great idea! Thanks for posting your preferences.
  13. Hi people. So I inquired at a modern/contemporary/eco-friendly retail store in the Bay Area if they'd be interested in carrying my design of a rocking chair. I was met with an enthusiastic "yes". I have 3 weeks left to change or modify my design before I give them the final specs. Everyone likes the way it is that Ive shown. Ive already sold 3 the way it is now . I had done 4 other prototypes of the chair to get the geometry right for a comfortable sit for big/small, short/tall and all (the seat moves a bit the length of your body to contour your curves). Theres one thing I dont like about the chair cosmetically/visually, everyone thinks Im overcritical. What would you change about the design? Be honest, be brutal. I just want to get it right and not have to change anything once we get our contract together. Thanks for your opinions and help!
  14. I rock a Traser H3 http://www.traserh3watches.com/seiten/Classic_Chronograph_Big_Date_Pro__mod-detail-id-5-sprache-en.html Tough as shit, tritium lights, tach and date. Use it backpacking and timing mountain bike runs (trying to beat my best times). Any watch would be fine, but I tend to abuse myself and whatever is with me catches a beating too. Hence the tough watch. With a 40 mm bezel its not too big and stupid looking on my wrist. What watch did you go with?
  15. "I don't think it did any good" You should of slapped him in the face with his reserve handle. That's what I would expect if I decided to do something stupid, or a punch in the face.
  16. I almost did when I lived on Davis Island in Florida 10 or so years ago. Some guy, either drunk as shit or high on hard drugs, started smashing the front doors on my neighbors apartments (old school glass doors). After the first door he smashed, I saw he was bleeding being he smashed the glass with his bare arms. He moved to the next apartment, smashed the glass, went in and you could hear him screaming thrashing everything in the apartment. He moved on the the next apartment smashing the front door. My apartment was next. He didn't get my front door, maybe he was afraid of my dog barking. After the second break in I told my girlfriend to call 911 and stay in the bedroom. My pistol was pointed at my front door. He got lucky. Had to mop up the scumbags blood from my front porch.
  17. Thanks for the input everyone! My friend also has the Mark III 22/45 for her to borrow. She can decide between the Sig and Ruger as her first firearm. Again, thanks.
  18. Hey SC people. I'm looking to get my girl a .22 pistol as a starter gun. Trying to work her up to at least a 9mm for home defense. She's always has hated guns (she's been robbed at gunpoint, we have something in common finally), even though I have a couple firearms in our home, but they are too big of caliber for her to handle yet. Took her to the range today with a Sig Mosquito a friend lent me. She had a great time! and overcame her fear. I own a P229, nothing bad about the Sig except the heavy trigger pull, which was her only complaint in DA with the Mosquito. I dont think theres a short trigger reset option as of yet, nor would I want to drop the cash for trigger work with a pistol I hope she'll outgrow sooner than later. I'm looking to buy her the Mosquito since I like the quality of Sigs. Any other .22 pistols I should look at before I commit to this one that she might like with a lighter trigger pull?
  19. You can save a lot of money by buying stuff that on sale only. Buy a few of the items that are on sale if you'll eat them again in the future (stuff that won't spoil). Wait for the other items you want to be on sale, then buy a few of them. Mostly everything at the food store will go on sale sometime, just wait it out. Make a couple trips a week to see (unless you live super far from groceries and waste more gas than you save). Clip coupons, cook for yourself as already mentioned. Also, eat everything you buy. Leftovers for lunch the next day and such. Include whole grains and fibery food, they'll fill you up and make you feel full faster than sugary and fatty foods (less food you'll want to eat, plus healthier). You can eat healthy and well if you shop right. Eggs as mentioned are a good source of protein and chalk full of vitamins. It's like a multivitamin. Soft or hard boil those suckers.

    ~Imagine

People that adopt, through the act of selflessness are the most noble of people. Freaking amazing. It's nice to see a good story after listening and watching the daily news of this world.

    One Liner Fun

When life gives you lemons make lemonade, then throw it back into the face of the person that gave you the lemons until they give you the oranges you asked for in the first place.

  23. Aside from getting a coach or two, going over EPs, checking out the aerial map, and the likes, don't forget to walk around your landing area and "outs" areas to check for new obsticals/vegetation that might be there. Not that there should be any new vegetation coming from winter, but being you jump in New Jersey there may be a drum or so of toxic waste that the spring thaw has pushed up Be safe.
  24. B&O Beogram 4004 turntable, Marantz 2240B reciever, Bose 301 Series II which I found brand new in box. That's my set up, can't beat that analog sound. Equipment made to be repaired.
