  1. That's why I always try to make a point to give a visual check of the jumpers exiting before me pilot chutes, then feel mine one last time before I exit. (since I saw the video of that guys premature that got hung up on the tail)

    "Speedometer"

We might one day , at the rate were going, unless natural selection steps up and embraces intelligence as part of its process.

    "Speedometer"

"meter" device to calculate the rate of something, speed, distance, ect, "guage" measures the value of something at a giving moment, gas level, tire pressure, ect. You're fuelometer isn't reading back to you how much gas you're consuming within a distance or speed, ect., so you don't have one. The fuel guage only tells you how much gas you have at that moment.

  9. For me it was dreams of flying that I've had since I was a kid, and still have them to this day. I could run and take off, fly wherever I wanted, mostly to escape people that were attacking me. Skydiving let's me escape life for a moment at a time. In 3rd or 4th grade I saw skydiving on TV and was amazed people were flying like my dreams (even though I could fly up, hover, ect.). Begged my mother to go, obviously I was met with a NO. So I climbed the bleachers in gym class and jumped belly first to mimick the skydivers, I flew!, broke and fractured my middle finger. My first BASE jump My now crooked fingers always reminds me of my first flight. 19 years old, I was watching a plane one summer day by myself and wanted to go up there, so I drove myself to an airport and they were jumping there. So never been on a plane before I jumped that day. Fell in love with the sky ever since. I didnt know you were allowed to learn jumping, so I went to a closer airport the next day to learn to fly planes. Years later I learned to fly my body like my dreams. Up in the air is where I'm most comfortable in life.
  10. Please explain yourselves.
  11. if youre going to do full altitude H&Ps check with an instructor first, make sure they're not dropping a load on top of you, ask about the uppers that day (so you don't blow away), get out last, and tell the pilot of your intentions. They're fun though!
  12. Ahhh, I'll always remember jump #7...... I asked to help spot the load, that helped the nervousness before the jump (I was nervous prior to my spotting duty). Gave the thumbs up when I thought we were good, got the thumbs up back from a JM, and off I went. It was the first jump I knew what relaxing was. Freefall seemed like forever not having to preform for someone. Most free I ever felt in my life. I wish I could do that jump again and again. Enjoy!
  13. My girl bought me a jar of moonshine from TN for the holiday. I know what I'm drinking. What I'm doing, probably be crushing up a bag of sunchips and counting the crumbs while watching CSPAN reruns. My name, Mr. Excitement.
  14. The newspaper put the whole community at risk, gun owners and non-gun owners. Now criminals can target homes where they won't be met with lethal force if they choose.
  15. In my experience, when you're on jump run and you ask someone to do something when they land, they're quite likely to agree to anything you say then promptly forget you even exist about 0.00001s after exit. That hasn't been my experience so far. I've always been met with some form of acknowledgement from others I ask.
  16. The check-in is for the DZ. It's their cue to go looking for your broken, responsible self. Yes, I understand the system. Having never encountered a check in DZ (just went across country last month with my girl and jumped a few places on my way), none that required a check in either, I relied on the senior jumpers that took an interest in the new guy to their DZ to make sure I was accounted for. I would gladly check in if it was required, but I would also still ask another jumper to account for me too. The DZ check in would be added insurance to the jumper looking out for me also if I was missing. (maybe I miss worded my first post).
