  1. 0:0:0 No inspiration to jump in crappy weather. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. I cut this from another thread. Continuum is available on Blinc Magazine and the Triax website (both in VHS or PAL). We can ship the same day or next day at the latest. Thanks again. Kenyon Salo Triax www.triax.com Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. Good post. I hope a few people read it with an open mind. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. The alarming thing to remember here is NOT that you are jumping a Sabre2 170 loaded at about 1.32:1 (heck I used to jump the same canopy loaded a tad heavier than you and know that it's a fun ride). The alarming thing is that you've downsized only after a handful of jumps time and time again. Can you tell me that you mastered that 210 before you downsized? How about that 190? Can you honestly say that you mastered it? What about this 170? According to your history (3-5 jumps ago) you should have already been on a 150 huh? So when's all this going to happen? Last Saturday on jump #184 of my current canopy (a Crossfire2 loaded at 1.5:1) and all previous 183 jumps were stand up landings. Guess what? I made a judgemental error thinking that I could surf the landing like I've done time and time again. Unfortunately the ground was harder and stickier than I antiticipated and I crashed. So was I ready to downsize after jump #183 on that canopy? I mean I stood up every one of those other landings? Heck no, I am no where near mastering my canopy, so "NO DOWNSIZE FOR YOU" as heard from the Canopy (Soup) Nazi!!! Hopefully you will survive your Sabre2 170 and hopefully we will see you put hundreds and hundreds of jumps on it before we see you downsize again. I'm no canopy nazi, but I do believe that people need to master their current wing before they downsize. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. I don't know you, but I'll still give you a hug. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. Patience is a virtue. Your time will come, but don't compare yourself with others. We're all different. Remember Sunnydee123 when she was trying to learn head down? It didn't come naturally to her just as freeflying hasn't come naturally to myself. I still suck, I just don't suck as much as I used to. Heck it wasn't until I was over 200 jumps that I started to become comfortable under canopy. Don't worry about the things you have no control over. 7. Who was it and do I need to punch them out. Mary rocks!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. Yes someone could be killed due to an AAD firing (duel out canopy entagglement scenario). But who's fault was that? The AADs? No!!! The skydiver ... Personally I think AADs are good. But should they be mandatory? Probably not ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. Not sure what to say besides what's already been said. I think we all experience similar (yet different) issues at our respective DZs. If you feel scritinized as to what you do, what you use and how you do it, then take comfort in that people care about you. But also try doing things a little differently. You know what they say, variety is the spice of life. Take care and hopefully we'll cross paths at a DZ one day.
  10. Why should I hate you when I've got all this: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=913997;search_string=gear%20rat;#913997 Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. It is nice when the video has been edited and mixed with music. But sometimes watching the raw footage of a good jump is just as enjoyable. But to address your other point, what one person may consider boring, may be exciting to another. So it's hard to say if you'll like one video over the next. I mean who's to say that someone who's into formation skydiving will be able to appreciate my freeflying/tracking video (and visa-versa). We're all different and have different interests in this sport. I guess people should add a little more descriptive text, so that someone not interested in the topic could save themselves the download. But anyone willing to download a file, should realize that maybe they might not like it, and it's NOT the fault of the person posting the file. As far as the nature of this thread. I want the best possible quality while still trying to control the size of the downloadable file. As an example my Bellas II preview movie at it's highest quality is a whooping 1.7 GB AVI file. I was able to reduce it for download consumption to a 33 MB WMV file (having 15 seconds of credits section at the end doesn't help the size), and in the process of reducing the file size, the colors are all messed up. But that doesn't mean that the people downloading my preview can't get a good idea as to what the finished product will look like. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. Nice flying!!! But you need to learn a thing or two from the squirrel (or whatever it is). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. Congrats Kelly. Now you don't have to worry about people saying you need to get licensed before you try ... we'll you know ... But don't forget you belly skills as well. I seemed to have developed a bad habit for not ever wanting to fly on my belly unless I'm tracking and/or deploying. I mean this as a joke, but there is also some truth to it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. There is no copyrighted music on the DVD. Not even the song on the preview? I do like your editing style on this song. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. Yes how can I forget the two rules of skydiving with Mary: 1) Don't hurt Mary. 2) Don't forget rule #1. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. I did do at least six jumps where your footage, Duece's footage or Greg's footage could have been used. So I was just whining and giving him a hard time. Hey I have a question concerning the sound track, but maybe I should PM Duece as it may not be appropriate for public consumption. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. I believe I saw a brief clip of myself and Omar exiting an Otter. But otherwise I guess I'm not in it. However, I do like the editing that you've done on this preview song Duece. It's a job well done. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. 0:7:0 Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. I'm going to pretend that I'm SkymonkeyOne right now, as I know exactly what his answer would be. They are considered students until they get their proficiency card completely signed off and have become a licensed skydiver. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. Have fun, be smart, don't fuck up. Also, seek training if you haven't done so yet. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. Who do you work for? Maybe they'd be interested in knowing that you've hijacked my thread. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. This sucks. But if you do want the BB job, what's one weekend? You guys can't be that busy at the DZ this time of year are you? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. Hey HH If you notice me in the next 90 minutes or so logging into DZ.COM, going to the main talk back page, going back to the main DZ.COM page and then logging out (every five minutes). It's just me running a script to gathering some system performance metric statistics so that I can test the transaction gathering code myself and my employer are working on. So I hope nobody confuses this activity with malicious corporate employee internet behavior and tries to get me fired again as believe it or not. I am working. Oh by the way, the product I am working on is some pretty neat shit, and more info about it can be found at http://www.xaffire.com. However it's not nearly as neat as jumping out of an airplane. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. I don't fit the exact profile of the people you asked about, but I have a similar concern. I am currently only considered a temporary resident of the USA (I'm a Canadian technology NAFTA worker) and I too have made the decision to venture into the dark art of BASE. Initially I will be doing all of my jumps at the Perrine (a 10 hour drive from where I am) and once I'm experienced enough, look out Moab (both legal sites). But if I want a BASE number (which would be neat to have) I will have to break the law and getting caught could result in me being deported and possibly having a permanent ban in the USA. But there's always Europe right? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. I'm game as long as we're in Moab!!! Of course I'm going to have to spend some serious time in Twin Falls ID before I move to Moab. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
