LouDiamond 1 #1 September 26, 2005 HERE are a few of the pictures of the S3S being flown in the Skyventure Arizona windtunnel and the video can be seen HERE"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
Anvilbrother 0 #2 September 26, 2005 I watched the video and never realized that what looks like all the forward motion is from the leg wing. Postes r made from an iPad or iPhone. Spelling and gramhair mistakes guaranteed move along,

basehoundsam 0 #4 September 26, 2005 Ahhhhhhhhhhh the tunnel ..... thanks for the fun this week........ alll that training chasing students has turned you into a dinamo tunnel-bird. Next time we'll play harder, longer, and stronger........ just w/o the 108 degree temps. p.s. Don't forget to send the toychest to Moab for the Boooooojieeee........ katiebear21 0 #7 September 29, 2005 Curious - what was the tunnel speed? Was it turned way down? Looks like you'd still get a lot of lift even with the leg wing in. Katie Get your PMS glass necklace here
outrager 6 #8 September 29, 2005 QuoteLooks like you'd still get a lot of lift even with the leg wing in. Only a lot of drag. Any lift and you penetrate the tunnel wall Aside from funny pictures, this is the most useless waste of tunel time. bsbd! Yuri.
LouDiamond 1 #9 September 29, 2005 Quotewhat was the tunnel speed? It was at about 55% which is what they set it on for kids. The111 1 #10 September 29, 2005 QuoteOnly a lot of drag. Any lift and you penetrate the tunnel wall Actually, lift is defined as a force that opposes gravity. Enough THRUST would have put Scott through the wall.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
outrager 6 #11 September 29, 2005 QuoteActually, lift is defined as a force that opposes gravity. Enough THRUST would have put Scott through the wall. You are absolutely wrong. Gliders do not have thrust, there are only lift, drag and gravity. The drag is directed opposite to the flight direction, and the lift is directed perpendicular to the flight direction. Lift vector does not oppose gravity vector. Lift and gravity vectors added together oppose drag vector. In a tunnel there is no lift, only gravity and drag. A wing suit in a tunnel is the dumbest thing i have ever seen done to either a tunnel or to a wingsuit. bsbd! Yuri.

SkymonkeyONE 4 #14 September 29, 2005 I don't want to get in the middle of this, Yuri, but Matt does have a degree in Aeronautical Engineering unless I am mistaken. I doubt he is "absolutely wrong", but it is possible that you misinterpreted what he wrote. Either way, I agree with what Jarno wrote in the "fastest" thread. The111 1 #15 September 29, 2005 You're not mistaken, but in this case I may be. It's been a while (and a lot of drinking) since college and to jog my memory I looked up some quick web definitions of lift. Most definitions specified that it was a vertical force opposing gravity, however those definitions were also in regards to powered, LEVEL flight. I think Yuri may be right in this case. Believe it or not, my BS in Aerospace Engineering was basically a Mechanical Engineering course of study with one or two Aeronautical classes tacked onto the end. And if you know me, you know I might have slept through those classes. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
