I was born and raised in Texas, spent a dozen years in Utah, then 2 decades in Seattle. A few beers or a few days in Texas puts the drawl back in my dipthong. But most days, especially since I make a living talking on the radio, I have a very neutral accent anymore. I still say "y'all" which puzzles peeps who don't know my history. As more of us travel, live all over, and watch national media, regional accents seem to be fading away. Valinda was disappointed when we went to Texas and they didn't all sound like cowboys.
