Stupid test said I have a Midland accent.... everyone knows Canadians don't have accents.... sheesh!

Ay?! :D

I think you said that with an accent. I would've said "eh?!" (This is meaningful input from a non-Canadian.)

Considering this test rated me as "midland" and everywhere I have lived, NC, CA, WA, AK & OK EVERYONE knew the minute I opened my mouth I was born and raised in Texas, I'd say the test is bogus as in Bo, my friend's name, and Gus, my dad's friend's name. :S

They keep saying "midland'! Is that Midland, Texas or Midland, Michigan?:S:D

I kept running that through my head and decided on that 'spelling'. :$ I appreciate the correction.B|
I've asked a few Canadians who I've had the pleasure to meet and they all kinda laughed about it and didn't seem to know of any 'correct' spelling for that expression. I'm still, in the 'dark'.:D

Northern

You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for.

I grew up mostly in the Chicago burbs.

North Central

What people call the "Minnesota accent." Sounds almost Canadian. You may have even been asked if you were from Canada before

Not sure if this is true cause I have always been asked if I am from the east coast. No one has ever asked if I was from Canada...:S

I used to have a slight southern accent but now i don't have it unless i drink a little bit lol

it thought i was Midland. :S

Me too. I was born and raised in Texas, spent a dozen years in Utah, then 2 decades in Seattle. A few beers or a few days in Texas puts the drawl back in my dipthong. :D But most days, especially since I make a living talking on the radio, I have a very neutral accent anymore. I still say "y'all" which puzzles peeps who don't know my history.

As more of us travel, live all over, and watch national media, regional accents seem to be fading away. Valinda was disappointed when we went to Texas and they didn't all sound like cowboys.

Southern. When I met skymama, one of the first things she said to me was, "You talk like that." HAHAHAHA!!! Cracked me up.

It pegged me right on with Northern even mentioned Detroit where I am from originally even though I have lived in the south for 23 years ...well I guess Florida is not really the south

Haha, the same for me too except I've lived in the south for 38 years! My family is originally from the Detroit area too.

Hey, Chuck, I'm not correcting ANYBODY! ;) I'm just teasing you. I've been to Canada ONCE and that was to Montreal (although I get bonus points for that, as it was for a hockey game), so I'm not about to start the Great Canadian Spelling Debate. Those Canadians can spell it any way they want and I'm good with it!
