  1. @ Sangi: Now you know ;) Awesome, makes me want to see the DVD yet again :) "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
  2. Sangi, Should there be ANY rules for skydiving? In other words, say someone who has never skydived before goes to a dropzone, says I'll accept all risks, I'll do a solo jump so I can't hurt anyone else, just give me the rig and let me go. My life, my choice. Should there be a rule against that? I'm going to assume you'd say yes. Now, someone on solo student status says, I've passed 8 levels of AFF, stood up all my landings, I bought this rig with a Velocity canopy for cheap. It's a little smaller, but I can handle it. How hard could it be? Should there be a rule against that? Again, I assume you'd say yes. Then a newly minted A-licensed jumper -- 25 jumps -- says all right, I've got a license. Give me my camera and a wingsuit, I wanna make a youtube video! Should there be a rule against that? If you have answered yes to these questions, would you say you are trying to take away these people's fun? Additionally, if you are answering yes to all of these questions, it sounds like your problem is not that there are rules, it's that you disagree with the content of the rules. But then you're no longer arguing that there should be no rules on downsizing, or no rules on jumping camera, or a wingsuit, all you're arguing about is the content of the rules. SIM says 200 jumps for camera, you say it should be 100 (or 50). 200 for wingsuit, you say 150. Etc. Or perhaps you're saying it shouldn't be number-based, it should be based on demonstrated skill. So instead of lashing out that people are "trying to stop everyone from doing what they want to do" or trying to take away their fun, why not put forth a cogent argument on why the limits should be lowered, if you feel they should be, or that the content of the rule should be changed from jump numbers to demonstrated skills or whatever?
  3. 9 times out of ten, the agility of the Vette to get you out of trouble is because you got too close to it in the first place. Not that I'm against downsizing; just do it for the right reasons, and not specious ones. And, to Sangi -- don't be the "wanna demo a Velo with 100 jumps" guy either
  4. Your new wing loading would be well within what most people consider acceptable. Changing from the 9 cell Sa2 to Pulse or 7 cell Spectre , the flight characteristics will be different in opening speed, glide and flare. And each a little different between the two. Not huge, but enough that you should try and demo them both to find your preference. Both would make excellent WS canopies. Whichever you chose to do first (downsize or WS), be confident in the flying before you make the second change. Splitting your attention between both at the same time is not the best idea. I realize that they involve two different parts of the dive, But knowing how the canopy is opening just by how it feels without having to watch it is a good thing to have when in a wingsuit. Also, you wouldn't want to mistime your flare and get your new wingsuit dirty due to a botched landing. Oh, and don't mind sangi. He really is harmless. Kind of like that little annoying dog that pees on the carpet, barks at anything that scares him, and chases his tail when bored. But we keep him around because he makes us laugh. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
  5. Three points: 1. Nobody here can give you a good answer unless they have seen you fly. 2. Your numbers seem reasonable for a 170 according to the "accepted" limits, and you're doing the right sort of canopy drills. 3. Ignore Sangi, he adds no value to any discussion I have ever seen him comment on. Other than that, what is your reason for wanting to change wing? "The ground does not care who you are. It will always be tougher than the human behind the controls." ~ CanuckInUSA
  6. Flocking can be done with good glide ratios and at bad glide ratios. When it comes to wanting to see something different than what you see other people do, lead by example. Dont just be a grumpy old grandpa commenting a football match allong the sideline..show us how it should be done... As to the original post, before it went off-topic in a (sangi)predictable way.. Congrats and welcome to the flock..mighty big wings.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. Sangi, Really, I am curious. What pleasure do you get in coming around here and posting foolishness like the above? Why the juvenile behaviour? Curious also, how many "real flying" jumps do have on a wingsuit? Anyway, I'm going with the classic...
  8. hey sangi what is "real flying?" to you? im a freeflyer that happens to also enjoy staying up for 3min+ as far as i can tell you just like falling, not flying. i appreciate many different disciplines in this sport: canopy "flight", wingsuit "flying", free "flying", not just falling from the sky, but actually using the skys energy to create flight. quit being such a troll and go jump...... we all know you and your ways. Is it troll feeding time again? They get hungry so fast... Blue skies, Keith Medlock

  10. To the OP, Really Nice looking suit, Have fun.. To Sangi: What is it with the hating on the Flocking. Just showing his nice new suit and you go "there" crazy..... why don't you just revive one of the many "Flocking is not Real Flying" threads.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  11. thats not comforting. lol i dunno i did a search and looked up shoulder injuries on the forums cause well...i made a post about my shoulder and of course i got advice but also people said "search for shoulder injuries" like sangi's sig of your quote says, "reading around here teaches mostly three things: "use the search-function", "you will die" and the classic "you're an idiot"!" seemed a lot of people either did PT and got better or had surgery then did PT and got better. i know just PT won't help me, i've already tried the gym and built the muscle...i'm sure that's the only reason my shoulder hasn't actually dislocated yet. and there were a few cases where nothing helped, i just hope i'm not one of those! i don't want to be manifest bitch Sex with sith is like sex with a stripper. A lot of flashing lights and waving of glowing sabers, but in the end you end up with something dark and wrinkely. DPH# "-13" TSK# "-13"
  12. Everyone: Stay on topic and check yourself if you feel the urge to tell someone something that meets the criteria for a PA. Sangi: Put yourself in check, you're on thin ice not only in this forum but on the whole site. Chose your words wisely from now on. I'm tired of the BS people, grow up and post the way you would want people to respond to your posts. I have the ban hammer out and several of you are looking like nails. Note: If the shoe fits, wear it. Everyone else please continue with the topic of discussion. That is all.
  13. I didn't made a search. I mainly just heard what Sangi himself told me. And I fully agree with you on the V3/loaded handgun comparision. Again, I share my opinion with you on this one. I don't see why someone would get offended by that. Just to be clear, a skygod for me is someone who has just made like his 500th or something, can go HD and starts saying to instuctors at the DZ with 1000's of jumps that their method of teaching is wrong and that they should listen to them. The skygods you are refering to are, in my opinion, not skygods, but guru's :) Those are IMO the people who don't have the ego's and have all the knowledge and will always be opeen to help other people become safer in the sport. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
  14. Absolutely true. But the website IMO does have something to do with it, be it indirectly. Some remarks that people make (and I'm not specifically talking about anyone) are quite rude. I hear people saying how they'd love to get more people in the sport, but how is that gonna work if some of the experienced jumpers on DZ.com keep 'dissing' them, being basically rude etc. It demotivates people to continue jumping IMO. And that I find really sad. Agreed. Well, I'm not saying that it's the skygods who are to blame for this, definitely not. You're right, it does seem a bit offbase to say that. It's just that people who have more experience, and act like they know everything (a.k.a. some skygods, not all of them, actually I shouldn't have said the word skygod, that was wrong on my part, it's just some people who think or know that they're the shit who give him shit I think) who acted condesending towards him. That I would not know. I can't read Sangi's mind
  15. First: When you ask questions like "how do you deploy from full flight without blowing up" people are gonna make smart remarks, and it's nothing to do with this site. Ask those kind of questions face to face and people are going to take the piss. Second: He didn't just ask questions, he gave advice. Wrong advice based on misunderstood second hand information. Constantly. That pisses people off. This site is the same for everyone, yet there's only one Sangi. Strange. He could have accepted that he said some stupid stuff early on in his posting here, put it behind him, started talking sensibly and people would have mostly forgotten his earlier posts. Instead he's decided to keep posting stupid stuff on purpose to try and annoy people as some sort of childish revenge. And so people are going to keep being dicks right back at him. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  16. The argument is not silly. I'm not saying that Sangi knows why, but even a broken clock is right twice a day. There are big differences in bending your legs and falling at a ratio of 1.5 and tilting your arms back and dive at a ratio of 1.5. By diving you have more speed and reserve to ascend from your original plying path. If a jet fighter wants to fly at 1.5 he can either turn off his engine and fall in the angle he wants or he can tilt his nose down and keep on going downwards in full speed. The last option is definitely the best flying which causes lowest chance of stall and more outs. You might not be all that experienced with wingsuit base, but as a respected wingsuit manufacturer you should be careful when discussing there issues as several people are dying every year because they don't get the difference. Please don't mislead the wannabe wingsuit base jumpers. -Jo Henrik
  17. Getting canopy instruction from EFS4LIFE and Sangi. Sometimes you and I can agree on something.
  18. Getting canopy instruction from EFS4LIFE and Sangi. Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
  19. Gees i look forward to your posts sangi, best laugh i have ever had. Come back in another 3 years when u have actually flown a few wingsuits and actually done some flocking
  20. No, not really, not everyone wants them.. This is the american logic - The bigger - the "better", not the whole worlds.. Bigger doesn't equate to most distance covered and the biggest speed (which imho matters most in wingsuit flying), unless you fly in mega downwind.. There's a reason why most people don't fly mattresses in BASE environment (where you witness TRUE wingsuit flight). Sangi, I usually try to treat everyone here with respect...or at least a measure of courtesy. Your posts frequently test my resolve in that matter however... In any case, I would suggest that "big" wingsuits are not exclusively an "american logic" and you can see that at many wingsuit events (or video) from events with international attendance. Now I'm curious though. What's your experience with wingsuits in BASE environrment, or anywhere for that matter, that drives your perceptions of "american logic"? And why is BASE "TRUE wingsuit flight"? Can you explain that better? pms
  21. Sangi~ You may very well be correct, i can only speak to my experience and that is over here in the states, i have yet to make it over to play with cliffs yet, but its coming. I agree, this is a very american issue... I wish i didnt agree, but i must. Z Flock #11; Muff #1909; PFI #15, USPA Lifer Commercial Multi-Inst. Airplane/Rotory www.flyteskool.ws Aerial Photography
  22. Thanks for posting, Sangi will correct you later.
  23. Mike, Sangi is always right. Whether it be wingsuiting, canopies or whatever. Remarkable how much of an expert one can become with 100 jumps. And if you ever forget, just ask him. He'll set you straight. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
  24. To the OP: No. It's not a good idea. Give him a couple days and Brian Germain should get back to you telling you so. After the shit that got stirred up in the "Stiletto as a student canopy", it is understandable that some folks would think you are posting this just to prolong the flamefest now that that thread has died out. I am not saying you are making this up, just explaining why some think that. If you read through the Stiletto as a student canopy thread (Not the older part of it so much as the most recent stuff) you'll see all the arguments why your friend shouldn't be under that canopy (or any elliptical for that matter) at this point in his career. Skydiverkeith: A troll is someone who post something that may or may not be true with the deliberate intent of starting a heated discussion (it's the fishing analogy). The rules are pretty clear about this, and include a link to the definition (click the "rules" at the top of the page, just under the main bar). DSE: I can see the validity of sanctioning any instructor who made a sale of this kind. Riggers are required by the FARs to "follow the manufacturers instructions" and recommendations when packing reserves and maintaining AADs. I think instructors should be held to the same standard when selling equipment, expecially if the buyer is this far from meeting the recommendations. I don't see it happening, but maybe it should. Sangi: Learn your history dude! It isn't the "Fossils from the 70's" that are so strongly against rapid downsizing. It's the fossils from the late 90's and early 2000's. When I first started, it was very common for people to downsize really fast. The good old "just be careful, and only do straight in approaches and you'll be fine" rationalization was really common. So were accidents. Look in the "Incidents" section in old copies of Parachutist. There were often 2 or 3 fatalities per month that were caused by inadequate skills under a canopy that was too advanced for the pilot. A lot of people did it and got away with it, but quite a few didn't. There was a guy at my DZ that was loading a XF 139 around 1.4. He biffed twice before he learned. broke his back the first time and was out for a few months. Didn't learn, and the 2nd time he hit hard enough to break most everything below his pelvis (including the pelvis). ICU for a week, hospital for almost a month. Six months on crutches, almost a year before he could walk without a cane. Another guy was flying a 170 Diablo at ~ 1.2 at around 100 jumps. He has had a few close calls and a 2 cutaways, but hasn't broken himself yet. Eventually USPA got tired of it and started the "Femur is not a Verb!" campaign to try to reduce the accidents (they revised the SIM too). It's been long enough since all that insanity that a lot of newer jumpers haven't seen it. I was "lucky" enough to see the end of it firsthand, and have a healthy respect for advanced canopy flight. Edit to change canopy name to the correct one because I'm an idiot. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  25. Sangi, there is no data. The guy thinks his ideas will work, but was saying all the time that they work only to attract attention. He doesn't know what will happen. No wonder no manufacturer was interested. His claims are fake and he lied to all of us. I still hope someone test jumps it and it turns out to be a great suit. Maybe there is a breakthrough in his ideas. I just don't like to be lied to.
