  1. He didn't. He said that he thought that any business person has the right to refuse service to anyone. That's not the same as "condoning racism." At most it is providing others with the opportunity to be racists. You think it should be legal to own guns. Does that mean you publicly condone murder? Not publicly. If Ron believes it's cool for a business to turn someone away for no other reason than the color of their skin, how is that not condoning racism? I never said that. It is your imagination. Then set the record straight with a direct and affirmative answer. Do you believe a business should be allowed to discriminate, as in deny services or goods to someone, on the basis of skin color, sexual orientation or religious belief? Why should he do that? Did he lose a bet or something and now he's obligated to you? Because he prevaricated instead of answering previous questions. why should Ron answer? You are doing just fine putting words in his mouth. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!
  2. That may well be true. But keep in mind that to a businessman, getting a golden parachute and declaring bankruptcy is often a good option. There's always another company. Very true. I was just agreeing with Nigel's post about the reason some business peeps would support Trump by showing an example I am familiar with. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!
  3. Some say the same about our Governor here in Florida. They see the decisions that they make as more of a business decision than a political decision like a "career" pol would make. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!
  4. Thanks I was confused by the way it was stated in the article. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!
  5. I am curious what was the "private gain"? The follow up example of the ATF agent is not anywhere near what reportedly happened. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!

  8. He was making 40k per year. That's why it was a surprise to us that it is cheaper for him to stay home and care for the boys himself. I never could have imagined it would cost that much. But I guess when you look at the responsibility the care center is taking on it kinda makes sense. Sure was a lot easier 31 years ago when we had our son. We made a plan that my wife would quit work until he started school. Even then she went to work on the weekends so she could pick him up and drop him off at school during the week. Then and I had him on the weekends. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!
  9. One of my guys had to quit when his wife gave birth to twin boys. She makes more money than him and day care for 2 infants is crazy expensive. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!

  11. Me too, not terribly surprisingly. Go after the root causes. Try to understand why these people do these things and address that. I will, however, support some sort of actual armed defense in the schools. Cops (resource officer) are one idea, regardless of how well it worked in Florida. Teachers are another. Despite all of the ridicule, there are some teachers who are in favor of this. Not all, not most, probably not even 'many'. But there have been enough times where some teachers in these situations have shown incredible bravery. The professor who held the door shut at VA Tech, at the cost of his own life, the security guard/coach in Florida who died trying to protect the kids, there have been others. Properly trained (to the level of police officers at a minimum), and understanding the entirety of the task they are taking on. The fact that they may have to shoot a kid in order to save others. The fact that their actions may take innocent lives, the fact that they may die in the process. The tactical fact that they aren't going to 'go out and get' the shooter, but will have an ability to stop him if there's no other alternative. It's not a step to be taken lightly, but for those who are willing to take on the responsibility, its a better option than "lock the door and hope he doesn't find us." Civilian carry in the US has become a reality. Millions of people have permits. Some of them carry on a regular basis. Yet we have not seen the 'blood in the streets' predicted by some. We haven't seen a whole lot of 'heroic defenders' shooting bad guys either. The reality is that that sort of situation is pretty rare. I have a friend that is a teacher at a local high school. He is also and Army vet. He told me that if they started arming teachers he would take the responsibility on very reluctantly. He said that even though he knows it would save other kids lives it would be very hard for him to shoot a student. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!

  15. What I notice around here on the old v-twin guys: They are typically wearing a bandana wrapped around the head, no gloves, and denim jacket & jeans; But they always wear massive leather boots. that's because the big twins are HOT and your feet are right next to the engine
  16. I am not surprised anymore when I see riders with less than optimal foot wear. I am by no means an ATGATT guy but come on get some good boots. His last statement on the video says it all "I got lucky..very lucky" You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!
  17. I refuse to live in a neighborhood controlled by a HOA. They're like fucking nazis. In my sister in laws old neighborhood the head of the HOA would walk around every Sunday with a clipboard looking for infractions. When looking for a new house early last year (thank you Skymama) one thing on our list was no HOA. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!
  18. Hi Keith We move last year after 29 years in the same house. For a small house we sure had a lot of stuff. My son and his wife moved in a month after we moved out so at least we had some time to move it all. Oh and as far as your back being sore. You know they have people you can pay to move your shit . And generally they are a bit younger than you and I. Muff Muff see you in Fitz You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!

  20. I noticed this the other night. A cop car on the side of the road with blue flashing lights that were so blindingly bright. Maybe a downside to new LED technology. Or it could be the old eyes. Lot of old people don't like driving at night because of lights. You may have a point there :) You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!

  23. So? It's not like they can't deduct all their expenses (and knowing a lot of small business owners, I'm pretty sure they deduct a lot of personal expenses too). We can deduct some expenses and no not personal expenses but all profit is treated as pass through income as if we drained our company bank account at the end of every year. What you are allowed to do and what some small business owners actually do are quite different things. Back when the IRS was still funded adequately to have a compliance operation, the highest level of tax cheating was consistently found among small business owners. I get what you are saying. We MAY have operated that way at one time but we try to stay legit as we are growing. I was more commenting on the pass through. I pay taxes every year on my share of the company profits as pass through income. Realistically we are not pulling all the profit out of the company every year so I don't really see that money that I am paying personal taxes on. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!

  25. Hi T. It used to be popular to put a blue dot in the middle of your brake light on motorcycles. I had a few friends that got ticketed for it but that has been a long time ago. Same with the blue neon. I always thought that only police were allowed to have blue lights but I have not done any research. edit to add: this was in Florida You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!
