  1. Ok I vote for stupid question dumbass. You are second guessing yourself based on the belief that the jump would have gone fine. you don't know that. You also now know how catastrophic the engine failure was. At the time you didnt. How many times has a student done somthing on exit that took a couple tumbles to sort out. I have never jumped without lowers but ii brings in a whole new set of possibilitys. Dont talk yourself into thinking you made the wrong descision so that if it were to happen again you automatically jump without thinking about it. Bottom line is that everyone lived. so the descision you made was "A" right one. Perhaps you would have been fine if you jumped. perhaps not. It doesnt matter anymore. I love ya like a brother and would have hated to lose you that day. (I will never admit that in person even after you ply me with yeagerbombs) _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
  2. forget the jet powered 182's I wanna see the super human ti's doing 24 tandems out of a 182. I've had it after 5-6... but i'm old. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

You mean you don't want to talk about getting 4 hours of sleep if your lucky and how to fake your log books? You mean the best way to avoid weigh stations? You mean talk about how companys will fire you if you don't run illegal hours? That kind of stuff you don't want to talk about in public? _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

  8. MY wifes brother got me to take my first jump with him. After we started spending our entire weekends at the dz, my wife decided if you cant beat em-join em. that was 1002 jumps ago for her. one our kids has 45 jumps one has 12, one has 3 and the youngest did a tandem with me last summer. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

  13. I am surprised that there arent more ppl saying their p/c was impeded when they fired it or are most ppl just sending them in to Strong without trying it. I know we videoed my ground deployment yesterday. there was a moment of silence after I pulled the handle before the holy shits started. my p/c never got out of the container. I for one do not understand how this mod got out of testing. from my understanding it is almost a 100% failure rate to launch a p/c from the tray. I am very dissapointed to say the least. I should know better than to fall for what I thought of at the time to be an inadequate solution to a non-existant problem. the flinger will go on the shelf right next to the catapult system from reflex. Bottom line is that in my mind there is no friggin way this system was tested fully. skydiving rigs should not be subject to "gimmicks" in order to try to get a leg up on the compitition. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

  15. Your size isn't a factor. Big jumpers just need to buy big jumpsuits. I am 220 but I can exit as rear rear float or diver or base.. whatever I want to do because I have a large jumpsuit. It doesn't look pretty but I am never the one going low. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
  16. Wow getting pretty technical. The main point is why now after all these years. This is bullshit. A senior rigger can install an rsl but not remove it? so now I have to spend 50 bucks. our master rigger will not sign off untill this gets cleared up. This has everything to do with the skyhook. either on purpose or javelin messed up on the tso and the faa caught it when they looked at it for the addition of the skyhook. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
  17. I am guessing the movie is actually based on the 300 spartans who held off 300,000 or so persians at thermomomomompololis (whatever) for 3 days. Historically speaking the single most famous last stand in history. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
  18. I hate to tell you this but It looks like it was done the way it is supposed to be. I installed vinyl flooring for years and as far as a lot of staples go the more the better. For removal the best way was already mentioned. take a skil saw and cut into sections, use a prybar and hammer and pry it up. after all vinyl and underlament is removed I used to use a flooring edge sander and just sand/grind the staples down. then put a new layer of underlayment down and your good to go. that vinyl doesnt look old enough to have asbestos in it. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

  22. Interesting. I dont read dutch however. How much are these? any good? I wonder if there are others top mount helmets I don't know about. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
  23. Doing video out of a 182 you you will bump the still occasionally it is inevitable, hence the d-box question. Not sure ppl are really reading the post. Neither my wife or I are new to video/still camera flying just looking at switching from top mount to side mount. my attempt is to get better weight balance. without going to a ftp for $ reasons. there doesnt seem to be much budget minded top mount helmets.(helmets you can put both still and vid up top.) looking for replies from ppl who have switched and mainly use their set up for tandems with the occasional rw jump as that is our typical scenario. maybe i am just asking the wrong questions. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
  24. I was going to jump the an-2 but after almost a full day of waiting for a full load I said to hell with it and turned in my ticket then went and jumped the jet. wffc o6 was the most dissapointing i have been to. hope next year is better. (bring the vendors and ppl will come) _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
  25. To be honest I went 6-7 years without a box for my vid. I got one as a gift and the only good thing about it is the ease of removal to change tapes or dub. I am more interested how many ppl use the typical freefly (side mount) type camera helmets for shooting tandems along with a still. My wife and I have both used top mounts for years, mostly protec and i have to admit with mixing and matching liners and a good tight ridell chin cup it's a pretty stable platform. the bad part is with the still it is very front heavy. My thought is simply to distribute the weight a little better with a side mount and still up top. I really dont want to spend 7-800 on a flat top although i have used them and they are a good platform. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
