  1. Why do you say the jm had sloppy training? Did you sit in on the training or just getting that idea from the pic? I can promise you that you can train as well as possible and still have student do backflips, turn sideways, bounce off the step, need to be physically removed from strut, voodoo, hoodoo an all kinda wierd shit. (qoute from capt ron) Pic is a good argument for direct bag rather than the static line assist that was used. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

    on our way

We are leaving for Rantoul in a couple of hours. going to make a point of dropping in at the dz.com tent off and on and meeting a few of you. if you see an old fat bald guy with whats left of the blonde hair cut really short and my wife (jumpnfun2) just say hi!! and lets all make a jump togather. If you are going to be there tonight I am going to show my little movie at the tent (I think thats what the deal is for "show your movie night") Seeeeee Yaaaaaa!! _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
  10. more or less the same thing. flailing around (a little) doesnt bother me much. it just when I tap student on shoulder to arch and i can see their legs come out in front of them I tend to think " shit, here we go again, time to wrestle"
  11. just wondering if any of you are doing tandems out of a 182? I have found the exit taught in t/m class just doesnt work ( poised exit) there is just to much the student has to help with and do more or less correctly. that leaves rolling out towards rear. not bad but an unstable exit. the other point is when the student puts legs straight out. (reverse arch) I havent had much luck with the big x so I tend to do a leg lock lock to bring them back which de arches me then let em go and get into big x. what do you ppl do? _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
  12. I had the same problem 2 years ago. I couldnt figure out what it was due to the inability to get it to shut off on the ground, only in the air exposed to the wind. turns out one of the tape door latches was bent ever so slightly and wouldnt shut tight. I took a needle nose and bent the latch back into the right position.... problem solved. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

  14. funny you should mention this. I thought i was going to have this scenario a couple weeks ago. strong uppers and short spot put me close to lake backing up for a minute. I thought about how to do this while i was telling student that we wont get to airport but plenty of landing area beneath us. (didnt tell her lake was right in back of us) I decided to unhook lats, unhook ripcord (from student harness) loosen her leg straps, unhook rsl, take my chest strap off. got as far as unhooking lats and rsl when we got enough penatration down lower to miss the lake. The plan was to flare into water and chop. I was going to brief student to hold breath and relax as i unhooked top hooks. also to swim underwater for as long as she could. push her away and ditch rig. I figured she could swim just fine with the harness on. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

  21. actually the statistics show that if you drove 10,000 miles per year, you were more likely to die in an automobile accident than if you were to make up to 17 skydives a year. so i guess for almost all of us skydiving is more dangerous. but you can still say that you are more likely to die in a car than making "A" skydive. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
  22. I have always worn goggles because of my contacts. i have popped one out several times, but dont feel like going without both. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
  23. hmm lets see. at some point i have jumped without a helmet, altimeter, cypres, hook knife, shoes, rsl, clothes, but never my goggles. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
  24. LOL. Sounds like a self imposed problem. First thing you have to do is get a job that allows you to jump more often, earn some ratings then you can quit your real job alltogather. Of course you have to realize that you can be poor and happy at the same time. And remember when you interview at a new job that you have to tell them that you wont work weekends and you need the 2nd week of august off. ive never had an employer that had a problem with those demands. take it from someone who has a wife who also jumps, 4 kids, a house and all all that stuff. you can have everything. your just a little cash poor. hehe. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
