  1. Hey Jenn, Voodew and I are sorry about getting you chased off your DZ. Kinda wierd that they're doing this now. A lot of this stuff (Voodew, Me, and I'm guessing the low pulls were Doug) happened quite a while ago, and with people who aren't even jumpers there. Anyway, just go jump at Spaceland. Does Waller even have any staff left? I thought all your people were at SSM now. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  2. Are you thinking of the Dragon Skin, which Fido posted here? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Do you have an address for the Dragon Skin factory (Czech Republic)? How much do they charge? How long do they take to deliver? etc.? I certainly don't, but Fido may. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  3. Are you thinking of the Dragon Skin, which Fido posted here? Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  4. Hey Caroline. My sister has done both. She was in the Peace Corps in Haiti, and hated it. She's now teaching english in Korea, and loves it. It seems to have more to do with the mentallity of the people she's interacting with than the actual jobs, though. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  5. So, 43 just from the intertrode. 6. Jump numbers definitely aren't a perfect representation of someone's skill level or suitableness as a WS student, but they're a passable guide if you don't have the time/money/opportunity to take someone through a dedicated prep program. The difference between 50 and 200 jumps is huge, as is the difference between 200 jumps and 2000. Some people do great with low numbers, and some do awful with high numbers, but as a rule, more jumps is better. Also, what's the hurry? Just do the damn jumps. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  7. Mullins? Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  8. Not all that well. The whole thing is made of tubular webbing, folded into a tab at the top and bottom. The bottom tab goes into a keeper, and the top goes under the wing, between the cable tabs. They don't seem near as secure as velcro. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  9. You're slow, man. I spotted the difference right away: They sewed big ass logos on the wings. These are 'features'? Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  10. Robi appears to be motivated more by his own desire to design better and better suits than by external competition. He seems to design at his own pace, for his own reasons, regardless of the market. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  11. Tom, no one has used these brackets yet. Dave, the guy who made them, just finished them up. They're based on a prototype we used back during halloween. The straps go under the bootie. I'd love to give you some in-flight data, but we don't have our V1s or our GS1s right now, so it's going to be tough. I'll let you know how they work with prodigies . Ted Like a giddy school girl.

That is a bad ass idea. All the little vibrations would make the wing stay rigid. That would be sweet. Right up until you want to pull. I'm sure that can be worked out, though. Ted Like a giddy school girl.

yeah, it really has tons of applications. Basically any sport that needs impact protection, would benefit from this stuff, and if they get the 'flexible ballistic armor' they mention on their web page figured out, the military and police contracts alone are going to be worth hojillions of dollars. No, I think the idea is that the stuff is flexible, then becomes rigid during the impact, protecting you, then goes back to being flexible after the impact is over. Think of Silly Putty. If you're just moving it around in your hand, it's soft, but if you roll it in a ball and throw it at the ground, it bounces. The material changes properties during the impact. Or even think of water. Hit if fast, it's hard. Hit it slow, it's soft. These guys are going to make so much money. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  15. I agree with Tonto for body type ordering, especially for fall rate performance. It effects glide performance as well, but not as obviously. However, this is at best the third most important factor in performance, with pilot skill and suit type being first and second. Physical fitness starts to play a role with the more advanced suits, further negating the impact of body type. Also, the wingsuit community isn't a very big one. The companies making these suit are small operations, and I'm guessing that people with builds close to those of the primary test pilots of the suits (Robi for PF, Yari for BM, Loic, etc) will be at an advantage. All the aerodynamic theory is great, but it really doesn't hold too strictly in the wingsuit world. When your aircraft's 'airframe' is moving around and changing shape unpredictably, the 'theory' stuff gets too complex to be workable. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  16. Why not just rotate the larks head 180 degrees so all the lines are included? Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  17. So, is the GPS portion of it going to be an alti2 only gps, or can I hook it up to a gps I already own (like a Garmin Vista C)? Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  18. I'm in for at least one. A balloon would be very cool, too. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  19. Steep. I've skydived with a guy doing that. He was hauling ass in both directions. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  20. Reread what I said, Scott. I never said it's OK, I just said that you were misunderstanding Yuri, as you're now misunderstanding me. Jiggs and Outrager sum it up well, it's a matter of manners. Frightening other jumpers is rude, even when it's not dangerous. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  21. Again, this is assuming that the person or persons under canopy won't do anything to alter their current course. No, it isn't. What he's saying is that it's straightforward to set up an approach path which makes it impossible for the canopy to reach you. Fly far enough in front of them, and they can't get to you, no matter what they do. What the other Yuri is say is that, even given this approach, some people will still get scared. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  22. Also cool for openings, BASE (forward and backward), maybe a neat perspective from someone leading a flock on his back, and others above and in front, looking down, etc. Could be cool when done creatively and with some good editting. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  23. Hey, how did that guy get a multi-colored Vampire?!? Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  24. Spectre 170. Could you go into more detail on this? What do you mean "pressure change spike", and why do you feel there would be one? Where did you get hear about this? Well, I attached it anyway. One thing that is clear, is that the cypres and protrack 'think' very differently. The lesson is simply "Don't be stupid." I was and I got burned. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  25. I'm famous!! Still way to early to tell. There's months left, so I imagine so pretty cool stuff is going to come out of this. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
