  1. I've done, I think, 3 HA jumps with wingsuits. One was a solo in a classic, from just over 20000 ft, and I think I got around 3:40 for freefall time. Your speeds will be higher at the top, but I don't have data saying how much higher. I've also done a couple flocks from 18500 ft or so. It's always colder, but it'll depend on your location and ground temp. I think the rule of thumb is 1 degree (farenheit) per 1000 ft. Never have used oxygen in freefall, it's not really needed unless you're going up really high. All my altimeters (analog wrist mount and audible) were a bit off way up at the top, but came back to accuracy during the freefall. Dress a bit warmer, wear your normal suit, breathe the in-aircraft oxygen, don't chatter like a bitch all the way to altitude, and pull at your normal altitude, and you'll be fine. Have fun.

  6. I didn't do anything to the rig, just had a rigger take a small piece of lightweight parapack and put velcro on so I could rap it around the lat. I'll shoot some picks tonight and post them. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  7. I guess I should have read the manual better. Still, I don't think that would help much. The rig sits pretty low, so I'd have to almost cover the pouch velcro to get it really protected. I had one of our riggers whip me up a velcro-on sheath for the lateral, took him about 10 minutes, which was mostly finding material. So I think my problem is solved. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  8. I've got a V1, and I always use the cover strip. The problem happens when I'm using the base pouch, after I pull. The hook velcro is exposed during deployment/under canopy and for the walk in to the packing room. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  9. I've started using the base pouch a little more, and I'm noticing significant fraying on the lateral of my rig from where it comes in contact with the hook velcro after I deploy. Anybody have experience with this? What did you do? I'm probably going to have a rigger clean it up and sew a protective cover on it (I've got a wings, which doesn't have the convienient cordura sheath). Anyone see any problems with this?   13. Actually, I have changed. I've gotten worse in every possible way. If I remember, you weren't in a tracksuit, and getting the fall rate up was the problem. Have fun in Europe. Be safe. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  14. Pretty much anything is possible with a lineset change. If the old lines were out of trim, or if PD tweaked the trim slightly, then you've essentially got a different canopy. Also, if the old lines were spectra, they may have been slicker than the hma lines, which would have let the slider come down faster. Ted Like a giddy school girl.

    I didn't put any long flights on it, just break offs after flocks. I didn't feel like the arm pressure was any higher, but the front end in general seemed to be generating more lift. I know that sounds contradictary. Also, it seemed to be easier to get into that 'really maxed flight' state than my V1. Ted Like a giddy school girl.

    It's not much shorter, maybe an inch. Also, it's a little wider, which can't help with flapping. How many V1 jumps have you done? If you just got the suit, you may find that the flapping goes away as you start to learn it more. The leg wing of the V2 really felt pretty similar to the V1, the arm wings were what really seemed to be pulling harder. Ted Like a giddy school girl.

    What made it nice? Easier to get around in? Less tail wing flutter? It was easier to walk around and get into the plane with it zipped up. Less of a tendency to step in it while climbing the steps. Ted Like a giddy school girl.

    It was really more "banned to secrecy" , but I'm back and makin poasts 2 teh intarnets again, d00derz!!1! OK, I'm not sure how close the V2 I flew was to the production model, but I got the impression that it will be pretty close. There was actually 2 V2's at FnD, the one I flew was Robi's, and James had his there too. Sam (980) flew James'. The only noticable difference between the two was the materials. Robi's had orange parapack on the arms (which I liked better than the dacron), some kind of super high-tech, super spendy material for the body, and no dacron leg piece. Arm wing planform was visually the same as the V1, but the wing profile and 3D shape was tuned to work better. 'Intake' style air inlets on the arms, and fewer arm wing ribs. The leg wing was a bit wider, slightly shorter (which was nice), and straighter along the bottom, with 3 mylar inserts instead of 2. The leg air inlet was a refined version of the V1 inlet. The butt deflector was reworked, with two ribs instead of one, and (maybe) a little bigger. I only got 6 jumps on the suit. The difference while flocking isn't huge. I felt like I had a little more arm wing power for floating, but that may just have been variations in the formation. The suit isn't really noticably different until you punch out. It seemed easier to really max this thing out. The arms really seemed easier to get a lot of lift out of than my V1. When I nose my V1 over and tuck my chin, it seems to want to dive some, where this thing just seemed to want to haul ass. Robi said he was expecting 10-15% more glide from it than the V1, which I can easily believe. That should put the best pilots at 3.0+ GR. Sick. Overall, lots of small refinements adding up to make a big difference. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
