  1. There are issue with the hard drives head-crashing at high altitudes, as well, so you may want to use a solid state player, like a mini or a shuffle, instead of risking your full out iPod. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  2. I friend of mine recently put my Spectre 170 into her J2, which is sized for a 150, according to sunpath, without much trouble. Javs usually don't seem too bad about going up a size, but if she's planning on jumping the 170 for a long time, why not just get a 170 container? Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  3. The canopy that Atair (europe anyway) is promoting is the Radical. Robi Pecnic and James Boole from Phoenix Fly were both jumping it at the last Flock and Dock event in Z-hills. It looks sort of like a Cobalt, but thinner and with "triple" cells towards the ends. It definitely dives longer than a Cobalt (or CC) from what I saw there. If Bryan is not jumping his onyx then I know of no other person who is. Former PST competitor Eric Butts had one as well, but I am pretty sure he has a Velo now. Chuck Erik jumps mostly Sigmas but is talking about getting a Velo. His personal rig has a Comp Cobalt 120 in it. There were some bigger pics of the canopy in Moffett's (IMGR2) avatar, but I can't find them. Except for the diamonds, it looks like a demon at first glance, but may not be totally stock. 4. We met Tony and talked to him quite a bit on Wednesday night, but we only got to fly with him a couple times. Super nice guy. He was right there on the big flock we did. Ted Like a giddy school girl.

    V-2?

No, they're the same as the grippers on the V1, just offset slightly. Also, there's some in flight V2 pics at the bottom of this page. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  6. Some pics from Skyfest. Ted Like a giddy school girl.

    V-2?

A couple of pics of ours. The suits are beautiful and very well made, and fly great, of course. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  8. I couldn't find anybody, anywhere, even on the internet, to buy crispis from, or I'd have gotten some. There's one dealer in the US for the paragliding model, and they never called me back. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  9. Nothing. That's everyone's point. Hanwags are the kickers of choice for BASE jumpers. Large hiking boots in general are popular because of their ankle support and the need to hike to exit points. Possibly, then. No, but they are powder blue, and say "FLY" on the side, making them look devastatingly gay. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  10. First off, I'm not trying to "hack on Yuri". I'm Just pointing out some questions I have about his results. I don't think you can deny that he's made a very bold claim here, and scepticism is the appropriate scientfic response to bold claims. Second, Yuri is not the first person to fly Hanwags. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  11. Interesting to know. I've never jumped a wingsuit in anything but tennis shoes, I was just speculating. OK, some of the same flyers who are posting big numbers just reported averaging less than 2:1 at the Stupino boogie. Yeah, I looked at the data more closely, and I see your point. I see what he did there. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  12. And then when they found out how much work it is, they went digital so they could just spray and pray in the air and then zoom and crop on the ground, right? Now I'm pulling your leg. Seriously, I'll probably go digital eventually, but I don't like the idea of having that much money right in the path of a riser, and I've got a bunch of other stuff to buy 1st. 13. Yuri, this seems very unlikely. Let me explain why. The biggest GR number I've ever heard quote for the phantom is 2.5. The biggest reliable GR number I've ever heard quoted for any suit is 2.7 for the V1. These numbers are from some of the best pilots in the world, guys who have 100s or 1000s of WS jumps jumping just for performance, guys who are built well for flying, guys who design wingsuits, guys who jump in base rigs, aerodynamic helmets and Hanwags all the time. And now here you come, with considerably less experience, and a less-than-optimal build, and say you can sustain 2.9 just by throwing on a pair of 'wags. Somehow, that seems very unlikely. Somehow the idea that you dusted the best flyers in the world, simply by putting on a different pair of shoes, doesn't really make sense. Especially considering those pilots are already wearing the same magical boots. However, there may be some buried truth here. I'm sure the phantom was tested and tuned quite a bit with hanwags, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if Robi tunes suits to fly their best in the base environment, since it's really more important and more noticable there. And that would include tuning the suit to fly best with Hanwags. So I think if you'd posted and just said "Hey guys, I just did my 1st jump with Hanwags, and had one of the best flights of my life. Anybody else notice this when flying with boots?" you'd have gotten a bunch of people agreeing. But throwing out outrageous numbers like 2.9 is just going to make people roll their eyes. 14. I'll be there clicking wingsuit pics, but I'm only shooting old fashioned chemical pictures, so I guess I'm out. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  15. Man, I'm like mother Theresa. Just ask anyone who knows me. Hey Voodew, blast from the past! Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  16. Perfect, you can use mine. Come find me at skyfest. Amanduh knows who I am. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  17. How big are you? I have a personal set of tracking gear that might fit, if you're around my 5'10" 200lbs size. I could hook you up with those at any time. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  18. A few more pics, including the soon to be infamous Ass-Cat. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  19. Indeed, thanks to Todd and Kathy and Aggieland, and to Morpheus for the demos. Also, good job Jen getting the whole thing together. See you at skyfest. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  20. Really interesting question, and something I think about quite a bit myself. I don't see this at all like you do. I don't think there ever really was a "space race". Only recently has there really been an explosion of suits onto the market, and only recently has there really been a number of different high performance suits available. The only person who has really been driving constant improvement since the beginning has been Robi, and his pace hasn't really changed. Look at the progression: Classic -> GTi -> S1 -> S3 -> V1 -> V2. The smallest difference between any two succesive suits is the Classic -> GTi jump. Everything else is really about the same, including the V2. I think you're percieving the V2 as a minor upgrade to the V1, but it's really not, it's about the same increase as the others. No commercial suit has really been revolutionary. Patrick dG's 1st suit was revolutionary, no one had seen anything like it before, but the suits we have been flying since have really just been extensions of that idea. Every suit manufactured now can be traced directly back to either the classic or the crossbow, which were both inspire by Patrick's designs. Next point: I think you're underestimating the changes to the V2. The suit has a whole bunch of refinements that are not immediately appearant. Which makes me think: This is the first HP suit which has not been primarily a "look Ma, bigger wings!!" improvement. It's relying on better aerodynamics to gain ground, and I'm curious to see whether this is an indication that designers are starting to get more experience manipulating the subtler points of aircraft design, or whether it's an indication that they're running out of easy, low hanging fruit and having to work harder to get the same types of gains. I'll let someone else comment on the S3 -> S3s -> S6 succession, I'm not too familiar with any of those. Side note: The V1 has the narrowest stance of the PF suits, and the V2 didn't seem any wider than the Acro, Phantom or Prod. Personally, I see more and more people flying wingsuits all the time. The market is anything but stagnating. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  21. High school year book, eh! Man, you must have been really ahead of you time to come up with something that profound at the tender age of 19 or 20. In all seriousness, I think my highschool year book quote was "There is another". It's true, too. Whenever I think everyone is onto my games, someone new comes along and bites on it, hook line and sinker. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  22. It's OK, man. Keep practicing, and some day you'll be good enough that someone will be willing to pay you. Then you can start raping your fellow skydivers just like the rest of us. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  23. Yeah, but that's not the sort of behaviour I've come to expect from Ed. Man, if Ed stops being all serious, who am I going to antagonize? Fuck. This is terrible. Oh, wait.... There's always Scott. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  24. Speaking of turnarounds, Eddie, are you starting threads just to talk shit? Ted Like a giddy school girl.
  25. Getting bored at work, eh? I don't think that's exactly what Jesus had in mind when he turned that water into wine. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
