  1. I agree. I have worked with Mike, and he is one of the nicest, down to earth guys around. Great work Mike!(as always) Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  2. BIIIIG red flag right there. One thing I have learned in my dealings with email hoaxes, chain letters, etc, is if it says that, beware. I cant tell you the last time I saw an email hit my inbox with that ending that actually was accurate and true. Usually its an urban legend, misquote, or blatant misrepresentation. Before you go accepting that (potential) rhetoric as gospel, check it out. Do some research. Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  3. I'm with you. just bought 250-1000 rounds(depending on the type) per gun that I own, just in case. one person said "you wont see any of the enemy here, why the ammo?" I said "it isnt the "enemy" I am worried about. its joe whitey down the road that decides he needs my supplies more than I do, and the cops wont stop him because they have better things to do." From the look on his face, I think something finally clicked. Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  4. supposedly if your community is under a bio attack, you are supposed to take 3 days supply of food and water, go into a room of your house, and seal every door, window and hvac vent with tape and plastic. then you are supposed to wait by your radio to be rescued... yeah right. 5. Ok, Just wondering how you all are taking this new alert. Personally, I prefer to err on the side of caution. While I was doing my regular grocery shopping today I did get my gallon of water/day/person, and a few canned goods, along with the plastic and duct tape. No biggie. If I am wrong, I have less grocery shopping to do later. Besides, you can NEVER EVER have too much duct tape. I also decided that the plastic isnt why they say we need it. Its so the stench of rotting flesh doesnt fill the streets so they can clean up the neighborhoods easier weeks/months after the attack Yeah, its morbid, but if you cant laugh at your situation in some way, they win. 6. why doesnt the DZO/gear dealer just recommend the noob strap a camera to his head while he's at it? And as for the gun analogy I read somewhere in here, this would only apply if the buyer were not of age (physically or mentally) and of the maturity to own a gun. Sell me a gun? NOBODY but me should be liable. Sell it to my 8yo nephew, by all means the person who sold it to him is liable. IMHO the mfr should only be liable if the particular item is prone to malfunction that leads to death or injury. But thats another story for another thread..... just my .02 Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  7. the right choice for WHO?!?!? Let me get this straight... we can no longer (or soon wont be able to) buy hornets, heatwaves, Tempos etc. if we want a reasonably priced new canopy? Now we have to pony up $500+ MORE for a canopy now? Greeeaaaat. I love how they take a perfectly good, little known (to the US) canopy that is priced affordably, and stop producing it so as to remove the low end competition from the market. I personally liked being able to get a great ZP canopy for a reasonable price. I guess that isnt possible anymore. Sounds like the microsoft approach. Lower priced competition cutting into your margins? Just buy the company, absorb the product and remove it from the market. Reintroduce a similar product of the same (or sometimes less) quality for a higher price. Its a good choice??? I challenge you to find someone that owns a hornet that doesnt like it. I have run into quite a few, and none had anthing but good things to say. Me included. Yeah, its a good choice. For the manufacturers. Screw the consumer! /rant Edit to add: If they can show me comperably priced (to the old line) like quality canopies, I'll change my tune. Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  8. sure you havent lapsed back into seriousness? I think the comments were caught perfectly by pilotdave 100%. I stand beside my comment that treetop, peanut and the other full time trolls should go down in flames.... HOWEVER, Bob and Steve (or whatever Peanut and Treetop's real names are in real life) are NOT included in that comment. I wouldnt wish that fate on any PERSON at anytime. I too would rather this not spiral down, so I am out as well. good debate guys. a perfect example of why I stay here, and stay away from the wreck. Each has a different crowd and different atmosphere, and seems to work well together. Blue skies Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  9. the best site I found for all things flat, round, shiny and video... http://www.vcdhelp.com if they cant help, nobody can Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  10. actually, the difference is that 99% of the conversation is just noise... its more to irritate and inflame, (or to argue about whether something was offensive or not) than to inform. Yes, there IS some info there, but most is lost in amongst the noise. To me, it was just a big annoying talkback forum, with a handful of post whores who did nothing but do thier best to inflame, even when a legitimate question was asked. and I think part of the reason things are tolerated here, is things are taken in context more, and jokes are seen as just that. apparently I didnt offend too many people, since it took someone over a week to comment on how they were offended, demonstrating my point. if this were the wreck, there would have been dozens of posts yelling at me for my sense of humor, with direct attacks on my character. (well restrained reply, BTW) Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  11. not to mention you get the helmet manufacturers making enclosures for ONLY sony cams. you might be able to get it to work, but its a hard to tell. also, be prepared for it NOT to, or for it to wear out quickly because it isnt build as sturdy as a sony. oh, and no matter how many threads you start on this topic, the answer isnt gonna change Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  12. you can always try a shark fin/vertical mount plate. I have seen several video guys using these like a roll cage, as the fin sticks up higher than the cam itself (double check before you buy your specific one). they just drill a hole thru not only the helmet, but also the plate and mount it all as once piece. Did they say when they would resume production? I was looking into a PC5 roll cage myself, but hadnt ordered it yet. Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  13. or you can do what I did. buy a cheap hi-8 camcorder, and play. you will get to build experience, without worrying about breaking the bank if you have to jettison your helmet. Then when you are ready, upgrade to digital. just my .02 Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  14. try THEsmokinggun.com. one one hand I feel sorry for the smokinggun.com website owner, but on the other hand, you cant register something like that and host it at a bandwidth limited provider. Things like this are bound to happen. for those not in the know, apparently smokinggun.com (not THEsmokinggun) got innundated recently, and his service provider charges per download of the page. Since the millions of hits exceeded his monthly allotment, he was charged for the excess useage. Apparently 760 bucks last month alone. oops... one hundred and TWO reasons for not shopping for the best deal on web hosting Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  15. I had an interesting twist. I think its gonna be funny if she found out about it, and just disappeared to make him look guilty. (maybe I am just trying to be too optimistic) And you thought cutting the crotch out of every pair of pants of the cheating guy was a cool revenge...

  17. At first I was confused by the statement "manufactured 1/94, so it never needss another inspection (paraphrased)" At first, I wondered "hmmm... those damn things will ALWAYS need inpections every so often." Then I read Cliff's email. SUUURE it never needs another inspection... no need to inspect something that has already been classified as un-airworthy. Just hope the idiot that bought it is a rigger... good luck getting a rigger to install it without the required inspections. Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  18. I agree. I have seen "this year's award" with the lawyer that went thru the plate glass window for the past 3 or 4 years. Too bad there arent that many lawyers really dying each year ;) Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  19. thanks to everyone for your support. Samurai: if they didnt find it helped them, they probably werent truly ADD/ADHD. Thats the fun of these meds, if you dont have the problem, the medicine does weird things to you. And I could probably not tell the FAA doc I am even on it. I just switched doctors, but havent had my records transferred. I could always just tell them my doc is the old one ... he wont have any records of meds. oh, and to give you an idea how bad they used to be, I was on 30mg x3 ritalin. and I was a whopping 85lbs. No wonder I was spacey... surprised I didnt pass out. Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  20. I was afraid you would say something like that. parasport isnt very easy to deal with. a 4 month turnaround is considered fast for them when dealing with warranty issues.
  21. Well, after many years of fighting it, and it getting progressively worse, I finally saw the doc to control my ADD. I have been fighting to focus, and concentrate of what I really NEED to do. It has cost me over $6000 in wasted tuition over the past several years. I was diagnosed and treated when I was a kid but that was over 20 years ago, and they tended to over do it with ritalin. So much so that mom and dad took me off because I was a zombie. The kids today take less in a day than my single dose (3x/day)! I am now trying wellbutrin, and hoping it will help. I'll know for sure in about 3 weeks. My biggest problem, is that ADD requiring medication is a disqualifier for a 3rd class medical. I have had my pilot's license since '95, and even tho' I havent been in the left seat in going on 3 years, I had hoped to go back to it when my personal economy went back into the black. I guess the most frustrating thing, is that high stimuli activities like flying arent a problem with the ADD. Figures, the one thing that it doesnt effect is disqualified. Feeling a little bummed, like a part of me is now gone. Yet at the same time, I am hopeful that this will help my life in general return more to normal, and let me do what I need to do. 22. The videographer at our dz that does it has an interesting solution. He launches from inside behind the formation, and turns on the light with a remote switch once he has left the plane. Yeah, you lose the exit, but at least everyone can still see Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  23. where did you find the spring for your cutaway? I considered building a cutaway for my helmet, but in my casual search, I havent found a good place for the spring.
  24. well, if it works with one cam, but not yours, sounds like it COULD be a bad connection on the cam. Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
  25. just my .02, but my pc5 shows "DV-IN" on the LCD when it is connected to the PC properly. Have you checked your PC's device manager to see if it is even detecting the cam, or if a yellow question mark appears when the cam gets plugged in? the latter indicates that the system sees it but isnt quite sure what it is.
